Los Braceros is a pretty good Mexican restaurant, the portions are large and the service is quick. They do have fresh tortillas and chips. I am more of a mole guy than a queso guy when it comes to Mexican food - Braceros is a step up from standard TexMex but a step below east coast offerings. They have drink specials, several Mexican beers on tap and you can order a 32oz beer! During the week they can be a little short staffed but the food always comes out quick but you may not get the attention you need when it comes time to get your check. We come here often and don't hesitate to recommend. read more

Although the portions of the entrees are generous, the bar drinks are not. Went with a group of friends tonight. Three of us ordered margaritas and found them to be underwhelming and overpriced. I ordered a top shelf margarita with Patron. When the server brought it to the table, it tasted like watered down lemonade so I flagged down the manager. He was very nice and even brought a bottle to the table to make it stronger but it didn't make a difference. (Watered down tequila, perhaps?) I was shocked when the check came and they charged me $32 for the drink. This was not our first trip to Los Braceros but it will definitely be our last! read more

Im from out of town and was looking for authentic Mexican food.....found it! This place is delicious. Ill be honest and say i stopped by because the Micheladas looked good online , but the food was a great surprise! The staff is friendly and attentive, the decor is traditional and the music was very much my vibe . Will definitely visit again while im in town. Reccomend. read more

This was our first visit to Los Braceros. We went there based on Yelp reviews. What I noticed about the reviews was that most of the reviews were focused on the service and ambiance of the restaurant, not so much on the food. We decided to give it a try anyways. So here goes...... We dined on a Saturday evening about 7pm. The lobby is an open area. We weren't sure where to go because what looked like a hostess area was unoccupied. There was a young girl (high school age?) sitting behind the front counter. She sat there looking at us with a very unwelcoming look on her face, chomping on gum, pounding her cell phone against the edge of the counter. It was weird! She made it clear she didn't want to be there. My husband asked her where we go, and without saying anything to us, pointed to the hostess desk with her phone. More weird! We waited for an employee, and one arrived soon after to seat us. The young man took us to our table. He was very polite. We gave him our drink order and off he went. We enjoyed a basket of chips and salsa while waiting for our drinks, and then our food. I ordered a combo plate with a tostada and taco. I had a choice of a ground beef or chicken taco. I was hoping shredded beef was offered, but it was not. I specifically asked if the taco shell was fried, and he said yes. Unfortunately, I guess I should have been more clear. I should have asked if the shell is pre-made, which is what I didn't want. I ordered a ground beef taco, expecting it in a fried tortilla shell. I was bummed when I saw that the server was bringing my plate with a taco made with a pre-made shell. The amount of ground beef on the taco was generous, but way too light on the lettuce and cheese! I have to say, the ground beef had a really good flavor! It was not swimming in any kind of red sauce, as many Mexican restaurants seem to do out here in Tennessee. When I think of a tostada, I think of a layer of refried beans, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. This tostada had ground beef, lettuce, a light sprinkle of white cheese, and a small slice of tomato. What, no beans? I wish they had a description of dishes offered in the combos. I didn't realize that there were no beans in a tostada. If I had known the taco was made with a premade shell, and the tostada was made with no beans, I would have ordered something different. My husband had the Grande Burrito filled with pork tips, with rice and beans in the burrito. There was a generous amount of pork inside the burrito, but very little rice and beans. The pork was seasoned well, and the tortilla was fresh. There was white cheese sprinkled on top. The green tomatillo sauce on top of the burrito was very good, but, unfortunately, it, too, was put too sparingly on the burrito. As many reviewers have stated, the decor is very festive, bright, and welcoming! The restaurant is very clean, from what we could tell. We did not use the bathrooms, so we have no comment about them. The place was packed. The servers were working their arses off! No one was slacking, except the girl at the front counter. LOL! The service was slow, there was no check back, we had to get our own to-go container, and we didn't wait for our check. We'd been there long enough, but again, the servers were snowed, so it was no big deal. That's on the management, not the servers. We went with the flow of our dining experience, but, and this was a big but, the noise level was OFF THE CHARTS! We've never been in such a loud restaurant! On top of that, there were two large tables whose parents were letting their children run and play in the dining room! I was getting a headache from the noise and the kids running around near our table! What's wrong with parents? Anyways, the servers should have said something, or they should have asked the manager to talk to the adults and request that the children sit down for the safety of the servers, and the consideration of the other guests. My husband didn't even finish his meal. We grabbed a to-go container, put his dinner in it, and went to the front counter to pay our bill, which we never received because we never saw our server after he brought our food. Our server rang up our bill, we paid, and made sure we gave our server a generous tip because he was doing the best he could under the circumstances, and we left. Our meal started with a great cheese dip and chips with just the right amount of zing, then continued to the burrito and quesadilla that my husband and I had. We also shared the largest bowl of tortilla soup that I have ever seen! All served by the sweetest server! So good and reasonably priced. read more

Los Braceros is hands down the best Mexican we have had in Knoxville in two years we have lived here. Place is beautifully decorated with Mexican motif. Wonderful large bar area with liquor and beer. Food selection was wide & varied. I had tortilla soup - small. But it was large! And a chili relleno which was good also. My husband had huevos rancheros and it was better than any he had in New Mexico (he tried one everywhere they served them!) We will go back and try more! read more

Yet another Tex-Mex restaurant in Powell; thanks Joe Biden (not),. This one has a bar, because it formerly was a sports bar. Tables and booths now have kitschy, romanticized, paintings of Ol' Meheeco on them. Looks kinda silly and old fashioned to me, but whatever floats your boat... They advertise a number of Margaritas and other liquor based drinks, but at the time of writing, you can't actually buy them! I guess they don't have a liquor license yet. They do have beer available though; including a $9.40 (!) michelada in a German Stein mug; cultural appropriation? :) ' Didn't see any wines on the menu, although I may have missed them. We were greeted with complimentary nacho chips and (medium hot) salsa, which wasn't bad. ' Wife had the "Carne Asada". In most Tex-Mex restaurants I've been in, you get an actual thin steak or two, in some others, slices from a larger steak (like brisket slices in a BBQ restaurant), but here we got a couple of *very* thin slices (like 1/8" thick), obviously shaved from a steak with a meat slicer. Consequently, it was dry and not particularly well seasoned/marinated. It came with the usual yellow rice and refried bean mush (probably canned). It also came with a plate consisting of grilled, split, mild green chilies, some small onions with the greens still attached and a large slice of cactus (?) , which she didn't eat because, whatever it was, it had a slimy texture. The dish also came with 3 tortillas (corn or flour), a little salad and half of a small avocado I asked for a beef Chimichanga, but the server didn't know if it was chopped or ground beef when I asked. After asking another server, she told me I could have ground beef or steak. I opted for the steak chimichanga, which was fairly flat, not bulbous like burritos and chimichangas generally are (to use less steak I guess). It appeared broiled rather than deep fried (as chimichangas are supposed to be), and had a white-ish sauce poured over it (queso blanco perhaps?). It wasn't bad, and came with yellow rice, refried bean mush, a little salad, a spoonful of guacamole and one of sour cream. Pleasant owner/manager (?) came round the tables asking how everything was, and I told him. He was apologetic and thanked us for coming, but appeared to be wearing a sheath knife at his waist!? Service was 15% tip worthy. read more

Quick service. Manager came to our table after the appetizer of stuffed jalapeño peppers were served and asked if we wanted them cooked longer since bacon was not crisp. My husband that likes spicy food said they had a little kick. Too hot for me since I tried one. Food had great flavor and good portion size for lunch menu and appetizers. Restaurant was nicely decorated and inviting. We were passing through on a road trip but would go there again if passing by. read more
