I was at Chichen Itza all morning and was hungry so I can into the town next to it and decided to eat here because of the good yelp reviews and I can cornfirm this place was really good the staff was nice the food was tasty I had a really good time my only complaint would be they leave the front and back doors open and some flies came in from time to time but you just have to swat them it's not a huge deal anyways 8.5/10 would come here again. This is a Yucatan Restaurant. I'd say a gem due to nothing else being around. It has the typical Mexican food options tacos carne asada Pollo asada pork dishes. I had the pork Yucatan it was good. not the best pork dish I have ever had but decent. My wife had the Carne asada tacos. they were a bit dry honestly. The horchata was not the best. I would skip that if you are a connoisseur. The cost for 4 with double drinks no desserts was 62 us dollars if in the area again I would probably try a different place. But overall not bad read more

We went here as a part of our day tour to Chichen Itza and Valladolid. Great restaurant to stop by if you're searching for a good place to eat. They have some options which can be veganized. We went for Panuchos sans chicken breast and it was great. Amazing flavors. The staff was good and friendly. The service was pretty decent. The seating space is quite large and good for large groups. We were a group of 10 but even larger can easily be accommodated. There is a space behind the restaurant as you get into the narrow alley adjacent to the restaurant where you can park your vehicle. We had a mini bus and it fit in without any problem. The restrooms are decent and clean. Overall, a thumbs up. Definitely recommended. read more

After touring the Chichen Itza archeological site for four hours, we were looking for a restaurant that was in the adjacent town. Immediately after leaving the site on the main thoroughfare, we saw a well kept restaurant with parking adjacent. "Good enough", we thought, not expecting much, but we would soon be pleasantly surprised. We were greeted in Spanish that quickly changed to English at our response. We elected to sit inside in the clean, spacious, and comfortably air conditioned interior. The service was fast and gracious. The menu (in Spanish or English) had a variety of appetizers, fish, chicken, steak, and pork. After a starter of homemade tortilla chips and salsa, the main dishes were served in an attractive manner. The fish was excellent and tender, and the pork and chicken meals were also very tasty. I don't even know where to start!! This place is amazing! Amazing food amazing service just out of this world. I ordered cochinita pibil and it was more delicious than I expected. Juicy tender pork with tortillas and black beans. The habanero salsa was on fire and their pico de Gallo Dios mío!! The Puc choc de puerco y res was equally as delicious. Yucatan is the place to eat! The hotels in this areas don't have the best food or even authentic for being in Mexico which is why it's always a mission to find other food that's not tacos tortas birria etc. All those are easy to find back at home so asking the locals is always a good place to start this places are not in the best neighborhoods but who cares it's mexico!! On our way to see ChiChen Itza we stopped by a local restaurant as it had great reviews and the pictures of the food looked appetizing. I ordered the Carne con Papas and so my surprise the food arrived within 5 minutes, wow that's fast. The meat was precooked because it was cold and very dry and no to mention no taste. The best part where the French fries and beans. I wanted to try typical food but the waiter recommended the his plate. Never again. read more

Stopped by for lunch on our way to Chichen Itza and were pleasantly surprised by this little spot. The service was great and we had a very knowledgeable waiter who was able to answer all our questions in great detail. The chips and salsa were fresh and the habanero sauce was hot hot hot! We tried the quesadillas, papadzules, the steak fajitas, the tzic de res, and the chaya with pineapple. The meat was tasty and well marinated. Everything tasted authentic. With the exception of the papadzules, which I didn't personally taste, everyone was happy with what they ordered. Overall a great experience and a restaurant I would revisit if the opportunity presents itself. Side note: they don't take cards so be prepared with enough cash before eating here. read more

A great little stop on a drive from San Jose to Merida. Parking is available in the bank. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere is nice - with a big, cool dining room. Tee portions were big, beer was cold and espresso was strong - all good things. I got the pork cochinita pibil and it was fantastic - with a fun presentation. After visiting the Chichen Itza ruins we were hungry but needed to get away from the touristy restaurants that were on site. It was late afternoon between lunch and dinner so there were only a couple of other tables occupied. Needless to say, the service was great. We ordered beers all around. Chips & salsa came out next but my husband also ordered nachos. They were alright. Here's what we ordered for the main course: Marc-Pollo Pibil which he really enjoyed. Randy-Poc Chuc a pork tenderloin cooked in garlic, sour orange & grilled onions. He liked it. My hubby-Panuchos which were tostadas. He thought they were O.K. Me-Cochinita Pibil. The place to eat when visiting Chichen Itza. Skip the Mayanland Buffet and come here instead. Inside it is spacious and breezy. Food was excellent and well priced (inexpensive compared to Cancun and Playa del Carmen)! The chips and salsa were wonderful! read more

No veggie options other than a salad but waiter spoke good English so we figured out a combo. Everyone in my party really enjoyed the meal, food quality and preparation was very good. Great place to try local food. We had the traditional lime soup (sopa de lima) and slow-roasted pork dish (cochinita pibil). Both delicious! They give you a complimentary basket of homemade chips and pico de gallo to start. This place is right down the road from Chichén Itzá and provides a spacious and cool reprieve from the intense sun. The food here is either inauthentic, or Yucatan cuisine is a lot more boring than I would have thought. I've had much more exciting and tastier Mexican food in Chicago, but I will credit Las Mestizas for having a small parking lot in the back, a big, beautiful, and cool dining room, and a clean bathroom with many stalls. The menu was on the shorter side but everything on the menu was traditional Mexican food and the portions were a very decent size. Cocktails here are also very economic. You will have a delicious appetizer and okay entree. Had the lima de sopa (lime soup) and nachos especiales (special nachos) which were both very tasty, followed by a boring chicken dish which was basically just a piece of grilled chicken with an orange slice. My recommendation if you go here is to fill up on those delicious appetizers and that's it. He recommended 2 locations, we chose Las Mestizas. Great service, clean restaurant, and delicious food. We had adult beverages, various appetizers, and local dishes for reasonable prices. Amazing cochinita pibil tacos!!! One of my favorite dishes. The waiter told me the pork is cooked for hours in a typical earth oven. The service was excellent. It's kid-friendly, has a small parking lot directly behind the restaurant and it is extremely clean. Good food at very reasonable prices! Our family of 4 stopped here after an early visit to Chichén-Itza. So we arrived at this restaurant right before noon. Our tour guide from Chichén-Itza actually recommended this place. My 4 & 5 year old had the chicken tacos with slices of avocado and they loved the pico de gallo. Had to make a review of this place for people like us who choose to rent a car and are visiting the area and are looking for a great place to eat afterwards. read more
