I was intrigued by this restaurant's good reviews, the Michelin recommendation, and the menu I saw…read moreon display on a day this place was closed when I ended a hike there, offering a 6 course tasting menu with accompanying wines for 60€.
So I decided to come back just for the restaurant, overlooking the salinas.
It feels a little sterile in here, with waiters stiffly dressed like in a white tablecloth environment, while the tables are plain, decoration an afterthought, and the clientele, well, looking like middle aged La Palma tourists look during daytime.
Arriving hungry directly after another long hike, having managed to change into better clothes, I was disappointed to learn that the tasting menu was only available upon prebooking, which the menu outside clearly didn't state. Also, prices and many dishes listed were no longer up to date.
So ordering a la carte, the food arrived efficiently, and it was very good, although not flawless. First course, squid croquettes blackened in squid ink, tried a little too hard for underwhelming taste. The main course though, a sirloin, was excellent with very rich sauce. Dessert, goat milk foam with papaya jam, was very refreshing and nice. Portion sizes were very generous. Wines also good. All in all, a good experience.
PS I forgot to ask why it calls itself "Salt Themed Restaurant"; it wasn't obvious to me except for its location on top of the salinas and a shelf filled with salt packets.
