So I decided to come back just for the restaurant, overlooking the salinas. It feels a little sterile in here, with waiters stiffly dressed like in a white tablecloth environment, while the tables are plain, decoration an afterthought, and the clientele, well, looking like middle aged La Palma tourists look during daytime. Arriving hungry directly after another long hike, having managed to change into better clothes, I was disappointed to learn that the tasting menu was only available upon prebooking, which the menu outside clearly didn't state. Also, prices and many dishes listed were no longer up to date. So ordering a la carte, the food arrived efficiently, and it was very good, although not flawless. First course, squid croquettes blackened in squid ink, tried a little too hard for underwhelming taste. The main course though, a sirloin, was excellent with very rich sauce. Dessert, goat milk foam with papaya jam, was very refreshing and nice. Portion sizes were very generous. Wines also good. All in all, a good experience. PS I forgot to ask why it calls itself "Salt Themed Restaurant"; it wasn't obvious to me except for its location on top of the salinas and a shelf filled with salt packets.

We arrived at the restaurant around 1pm on a Saturday, and there was plenty of seating, though it did fill up by 2:30. The outdoor seating in the restaurant on the ground floor was fairly well protected from the wind. We received fine dining service. First the three flavors of finishing salt were brought to the table. Next the green salad and fried cuttlefish came in large portions and were delicious. I chose a locally produced white wine to go with my meal, and it was excellent. The main event was the fresh fish of the day, for two. As an accompaniment, we had the La Palma specialty, roasted new potatoes seasoned generously with locally produced salt. The entire experience was superb.
