Today was the perfect day for this event. The weather and temperature were both perfect and the festival was great. If you like art. This is a place to visit.there is so much to see. You get to talk to some of the artists here. That was cool. I advice to wear good shoes. The fair is in a great location. It is surrounded by galleries, shops and restaurants. It is a lot of fun. I also got to hear some talented musicians play. They had a vendor giving away pineapple popsicles and other things. I love free stuff. I was dropped off here. This area has some street parking and garages a few blocks away. The traffic was crazy. I recommend to get dropped off like I did. read more

The Las Olas art fair is a yearly event that promotes exhibits of professional and amatuer artists to the crowds who will curiously browse and hopefully purchase (price negotiations are encouraged). With such of a variety of multi-cultural art, it provided a fun experience for the five hours. The eateries were extremely busy offering food and drink to the crowds which we took a break to indulge. Parking was tight but availabe at $4.00 an hour near Las Olas Blvd. Baptist Health provided free ice pops and fans to the crowds and even bowls of water for the dogs. Fun times and cant wait to do it again next year. read more

This is the 35th year of the annual Las Olas Art Fair Part 1. The street is closed on one side for the artists to exhibit their work. There is plenty of parking in the city garages and in the lots behind Las Olas Boulevard. The show is held over two days, Saturday and Sunday from 10 until 5 PM. Last years art fair attracted over 20,000 visitors. Items for sale range from under $20 earrings to many thousands of dollars sculptures. There are a large number of artists showcasing their work in prints, photography, metal, wood, paint, sculpture, and textiles. I loved the variety of art to look at. Another thing I love about the festival is the number of restaurants you have to choose from on the boulevard. Whenever you get tired you can pop into a cafe for a drink and refreshment and some air conditioning. I brought my chihuahua to the fair and this is a very dog friendly event. Many of the businesses on the street put out water bowls for the dogs attending the festival. I had great day out with my friend and pup checking out cool art, popping into the businesses on Las Olas and finishing up with a fantastic lunch at Tommy Bahama Marlins Bar. I even got to meet Guy Harvey. This is an event that is fun for the whole family. read more

I have been to the Las Olas Art Fair a few times already...usually they have them in January, March and October. Las Olas boulevard is closed to traffic during this event and it is full of art booths and tents displaying and selling their creations. The Las Olas Art Fair is ranked as one of the top 100 art festivals in the nation. As you walk around, you can meet the creators of the art on display; commission a specific piece; ask questions about techniques; learn the sources of their inspirations; and purchase fine works of art at affordable prices. You can see many different media used like oils, watercolors, metal, wood, acrylic, polymers, etc....Many pieces were 3D, while most of them were 2D. It was a nice day to walk around and enjoy the downtown area. read more

Went to the Las Olas Art Festival this weekend with my family and honestly had a great time! There were six of us, 4 adults and 2 children. The fair itself was nothing short of perfect! The art varied to hit any interest. I saw many beautiful, funky, and unique pieces. The size of the show was great, spanning about three blocks. I loved that the show is on Las Olas Boulevard, so it is literally encased by restaurants and brick and mortar shops. This gives patrons a lot of choices of places to eat. The only reason for four stars and not five, is that I would love to see kid spots for the kids to play. A station or two for the kids to do simple arts and crafts would have pushed the event to 5 stars for me. Overall, I had a great time and am looking forward to future art festivals. read more

It was such a beautiful day that we decided to go to the Las Olas Art Fair to get some fresh air and some exercise. It was a little chilly when we got there but was warming up by the time we left. Some people brought their dogs to walk around; there were some really cute ones like the little miniature Chihuahua who was wearing a coat, cap and sunglasses, a Westie and a couple who had 2 Corgis. There were a couple of new vendors that we hadn't seen before and others who are always there. As you walk around, you can also see what shops/restaurants are on Las Olas and what new shops/restaurants are "coming soon." Some of the shops had a sidewalk sale going on to take advantage of all the people who were there. By the time that we left a little after noon, there was a long line of traffic coming in off of Broward to park. read more

This two-day art fair (now called part 1) is in January; part 2 is in March. This fell today, Sunday, January 6th, 2019 and yesterday, Saturday January 5th. It's been happening over 30 years since the late 80's. I feel like I've been going to it off and on for that long. It's grown a bit over the years -- now with over 300 artists exhibiting (and selling). It's still held in the middle of Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale But the street area being closed are a bit longer. The artists work in all sorts of media and include sculpture, jewelry, home decor, and wearable art (clothing). It takes about an hour to slowly walk by all the booths. Add in stopping to browse or ask questions, and it's at least a two hour trip. Meanwhile the regular stores on the street sometimes run specials or have their own sales and the restaurants and bars set up outside booths for drinks, etc. Some of restaurants offer special limited menus or have a minimum spend and some even include gratuity automatically n your bill during the event. When the weather is nice, it's a lovely artistic stroll in an outdoor museum. Just be prepared for the all the people with the same idea. read more

They close off the entire main length of Las Olas and double row it with all sorts of art and craft vendors. It attacks large numbers, really gets crowded and parking is at a premium with private parking areas pricey. All of the restaurants and cafes tend to be packed to capacity but if you time things right you can usually find a seat though the service you get might be slow and stressed out. Most beachside cities of the area have art fairs. However, the Las Olas Art Fair generally stands out as one of the better. That is due in part to the fact that the art vendors are more specifically oriented towards actual works of art rather than vendors selling or hyping commercially produced crafts such as those ever popular but atrociously ugly cypress clocks, white porcelain cats or pink plastic flamingos which so often typify the worst of what are purported as crafts. On a cautionary note, be careful about photography. A good number of the art vendors are very protective of their original works, do not want anyone duplicating them; hence generally resent people taking photographs. It's best to ask permission first. read more

ZZZzzz ZZZzzz ZZZzzz Excuse me, I nodded off just as I did at this art fair... Not literally, but for the most part, the fun and excitement I did enjoy had more to do with what Las Olas and Himmarshee have to offer on any given day (which is easy to find parking, decent restaurants and friendly locals). The excitement of walking into the crowds was fun at first, but that thrill lasted a whole 10 minutes once you realize that Las Olas Boulevard is not the widest street around and there is no room whatsoever to walk (especially with so many people with baby carriages, albeit mostly with dogs and the occasional wheelchair that I felt bad for since they had no option to hop up a curb). The walkway along the face of the art tents were literally about 6 foot and ironically the sidewalks were not really an option since the restaurants took them over to have added table service. Year after year and the same issues, and no remedy to date (why not move to Bubier Park located directly along Las Olas requiring no name change). With over 200 artists tents, you'd think they'd attract more talent. Sorry if I offend but most of what I saw was unexciting and stale. Although there was about 5 booths that offered unique and quality art, especially Lewis Tardy (you sir are quite impressive). The prices offered by some of the artists were somewhat ridiculous as some of the prices asked for decent pieces were higher than walking into a gallery and buying art by well known artists. For example, a lovely, blown glass vase was priced higher than a comparable piece of Gallé (if you don't know Gallé then consider Gallé the Picasso of collectible art glass). Apparently this art fair is one of many that moves from city to city and some of the artists come and go and some are regulars along the route. This is the same art fair that will take over Boca Raton for the Boca Fest this month and when it returns here in March. The underlying saving grace was the cooler than normal weather, great nearby restaurants and friendly conversation. read more

We have been going to this art fair, and it's various permutations, for several years. Today's event, 2019-part1, had many new artists attending, which is a big plus. Many of the artists, do the SE Florida art fair circuit, and it sometimes can seem a bit repetitive. But today was great! Some of our old favorites, and some new folks, as well. It's like an outdoor museum, and many of the stores on Las Olas put out outdoor displays as well. A really fun day of browsing and eating. Just be prepared to look for parking, and pay quite a bit for it ($5.00/hour) once you find it. read more

There are many artists from around the country that show up for this art fair. Show up before 10am because the booths will already be open and you can avoid the crowds. Expect to see most items costing way over $100. This is not an inexpensive art fair. You will find sculptures, paintings, photographs, jewelry, etc. The only item I have ever purchased is the annual Las Olas Art Fair poster. It is an illustration of Las Olas and they change it every year. I had the $10 poster framed for $200 and it looks great! You can park at the many parking lots around Las Olas. Expect to pay $10. Las Olas is closed to traffic so you can't park on Las Olas. read more

This art fair is a tradition that I love! I honestly don't know what is more beautiful the art on display, or the setting the show is in! Las Olas Blvd. is beautiful this time of year; there was perfect weather, the restaurants and shops were open and the streets were full of cute dogs and lots of people. Most of the artwork was WAY out of my price range, but so much fun to look at! (And to dream of owning!)). There did seem to be quite a few people buying this year, so hopefully the artists made out really well. There was small art, jewelry of every kind of material imaginable, and creative clothing pieces made out of wool, silks, and linens, in addition to the traditional oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics and mosaic pieces. I can specially loved the unique sculptures and fountains! Meandering through the Las Olas Art Fair is a great way to spend the day.....surrounded by beautiful art and getting some exercise and fresh air at the same time! read more

It was my first time coming to the las olas arts fair and I really enjoyed it. It was a lot bigger than I expected it to be. They had a lot of different artists with beautiful and amazing art work. Lots of paintings and sculptures. It was great to get to talk to the artist and ask firsthand how they created their masterpieces. I came home with something I loved and will enjoy seeing up on my wall! It was a nice way to spend a Sunday relaxing enjoying eclectic artwork. Even did some window shopping with the boutiques and enjoyed a drink when I took a break from walking around in one of their sidewalk dinning restaurants. Can't wait to check out the next Las Olas Art Fair. Tip: There is two near by garages available for parking and relatively close to where the air fair is located. The 2018 Fair waa accompanied by cool crisp weather this year. The parking was easy and a flat rate of $10 at a professional bldg just a block from the fair. The narrow street & multitude of attendees made it quite crowded to enjoy the stroll at times. We opted at going on the sidewalks and view from afar & be selective on what to view closer. Huge art fair but with unrealistic prices. I brought my son today after I had to work for a couple of hours and while we enjoyed looking at the artists work that was on display and that there was so much more on offer than at the South Miami art festival, there was so little that was affordable for us. I don't have the good guts of $1000 to spend on a piece. At least not yet. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic event showcasing some great artists, and to show your kids what they could do with the talent they may have though the art is a little bit vanilla for my taste. read more

Typical art fest that you find in most cities in the US. Mostly generic, expensive art and jewelry. In fact, the jewelry seemed more on the blasé and tacky end than eclectic or funky. Maybe to appeal to the older crowd? Nothing special. The festival is small too, compared to others I've been to in other cities. Generally pleasant to walk through despite oblivious people blocking the flow of foot traffic. We went in several permanent shops too. I wish there had been some food and drink booths set up from restaurants in the area. We found no port-a-potties but were directed to use the bathrooms in the Riverside Hotel. And people need to leave their poor, sweet dogs at home. Their paws burn on the pavement!! Worth a walk through but wouldn't go again. read more

An interesting way to shop for unique items and art. Beware the on the spot bootleg parking is to be avoided if possible. If not remove your valuables, change, and phone chargers and wires. Upon arriving home I found the attendant stole my two apple charging cables from my car. Who do I get recourse from? The illegal lots that sprout up disappear as quickly when the fair closes. This is a disgrace and let the buyer beware. Park in a registered lot. read more

The Art Fair itself was OK. I was just surprised that information about the fair & COVID-19 precautions stated that masks are required (in no uncertain terms), & when we got there we saw that at most 50 percent of the people did not have masks on. I asked a group of police officers who were there about this (all maskless), & all one of them would say is "There is no mask mandate in the State of Florida." I am well aware of that, but I don't think it is right to post that this is a requirement when it is in no way required or enforced. read more

My sweetie and I went today October 19th to the 26th annual Las Olas Art Festival. We had been before...or to some other arts & crafts festival here on Las Olas. I was a little disappointed. It was very small and had very minimal food. My and I walked the whole thing (at a strolling pace) in under 45 minutes. Not enough variety in the art. No new artists. I woke up excited to eat kettle corn and iced tea when we got there but the only food available was one tent in the center selling sausage w/peppers, cheeseburgers and hotdogs plus canned sodas. Then there were two frozen lemonade carts elsewhere. Some of the restaurants brought out a table/cart to the edge of the sidewalk and sold alcohol. Will I make the drive up from Miami next year? Meh...maybe not. read more

It's a big art fair but not impressive, I've been to much better. Needless, I love dogs but hate to see them dragged through hundreds of people. Do you really think the dogs enjoy it? Really stupid people walk tiny dogs. Of course I have no respect for anyone that takes a dog to an art fair, just trying to draw attention to themselves. I just so happened to be in Ft. Lauderdale this past weekend when the Art Fair was being held and I was very excited to check it out. Turns out though, it's just A-OK. The art was pretty expensive and a few booths seemed to repeat each other. It was a nice afternoon of walking around looking at pretty things but if I missed the next Art Fair, I wouldn't be too upset. Tip: Get a hot dog from the vendor in front of Mango's.
