Is there even anything negative to say? Las Olas Blvd is a population tourist destination, given all the bars, restaurants and shops on or near by. Whether you're visiting during the day, or at night you're bound to have a good time. There's a little something for everybody here. Shopping the cute little boutiques, enjoying an ice cream treat, having a 5 star meal or simply enjoying a cocktail at one of the many bars, this is a destination location worth the stop.

Las Olas Boulevard has a whole lot to offer in terms of restaurants and bars. It just keeps getting better and better. I love the variety of cuisines. From Italian to American to European to some awesome steak and lobster restaurants, you sure have a lot to choose from! They also have fun events like the Art Featival and Wine and Food Festival. Those are lots of fun and well organized. The downside, like all major cities is parking. It can be difficult to find it. That is the only reason I took off a star. This is a fun area and if you live nearby, I would imagine it would be hard to get bored around here. I love this area and look forward to coming back and back and back....

A street full of shops and restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. We decided to walk this street while killing time before getting on our flight back home. This area kinda reminded me of downtown Palm Springs. They had a bunch of art galleries with restaurants and boutique stores. This is a good spot for shopping or a day out with friends.

Beautiful art galleries, and some very nice shops as well. I enjoyed peering into Tommy Bahama, on cloud, Lilly Pulitzer, Brito, killwins, Fleming, Lobster Bar, Eddie V's, Louis Bossi, El Camino, 60 vines ... It was a beautiful day to wander around and people watch. There is so much new construction all around it's almost not recognizable.

Absolutely love this area with so many restaurants, bars and retail stores at my fingertips. Once you get here there is no need for an Uber since everything fun is within walking distance. My favorite food places are Rocco Tacos and Voodoo Bayou and for dessert there are a bunch of chocolate, donuts and yogurt shops.

Our next family adventure takes us to Las Olas boulevard with a rating of 4.8 and more than 138 reviews located in fort Lauderdale, with perfect weather for walking the day we began our tour along the waves boulevard. A long street full of restaurants where you can find an international variety of cuisine and choose according to the country you want to try. Also, if you are an art lover, you will find several galleries where you can enjoy works by local artists. Also, if you want to travel on a Sicilian boat and stroll through the canals, you can make this dream come true without traveling to Italy. I think that when night falls, Las Olas Boulevard comes alive at night with live music and other options.

Las Olas Boulevard runs from the ocean to downtown Ft Lauderdale. Lined with a mix of high-end boutiques, great restaurants with a wide variety of cuisines, art galleries, and cultural landmarks. Amazing for people watching.

The Las Olas Boulevard is a fierce international staple in East Fort Lauderdale with a variety of restaurants, bars, sky high condos and a magnificient intracoastal waterway. My family has been visiting Las Olas for many years and its sky line and its tourism gets bigger and bigger. Parking is the number one negative issue in this area. They do have on street park/pay in addition to four or five park/pay lots in the immediate area. Beautiful place to live and play. We have recently participated in numerous Pub Crawls on the Las Olas strip. Many of the businesses include: EL CAMINO LULULEMON VOODOO BAYOU ROCCOS TACOS PALM ROOM SALT LIFE UNIQUE TREASURES LILY PULITZER QUIET STORM SURF SHOP ENVY ANN'S FLORIST & COFFEE BAR KILWINS CHOCOLATE YOGURT UR WAY CAFFE EUROPA HOLLYWOOD DONUT FACTORY RIVERSIDE HOTEL BOATYARD RESTAURANT B SQUARE BURGERS

Beautiful day to be in Florida . 75 degrees and strolling thru Las Olas looking at Art. Many beautiful shops, took a water taxi boat cruise. I saw a lot of joggers running thru town. I stopped at a delicious Italian bakery. Pan de Dolci I think it was called. Biscotti and Canoli's. Las Olas is a lovely town. I noticed 2 packed restaurants. Louie Bossi and El Camino. Hope to return soon.

Running from west to east, this is the main strip of Fort Lauderdale and is the best place to go walking in the city. The western end features a lot of high rise office and residential buildings. As you head east, you'll see more restaurants, bars, boutique shops, art galleries and more. There are so many places to eat and go drinking with lots of outdoor seating too. Actually, the quality of restaurants is much better on Las Olas is much better than the touristy, overpriced ones that are on the beach. The strip is extremely safe and clean too.

I checked out this infamous strip on a recent trip to Fort Lauderdale, and it was okay. There are a bunch of cool shopping stores and restaurants. Nothing really struck me as oooh, but if I lived in the area, I would definitely take advantage of some dining experiences. There's plenty of places for paid parking. A block away from Los Olas, you can take a complimentary water trolley that takes you to a few local destinations. Due to time, I was unable to take advantage of the trolley. I didn't realize rosa Blvd also continued towards the Fort Lauderdale Beach area. I will definitely return and enjoy some dining, and that trolley

Great place to walk and choose from so many restaurants and shops. Careful if you're wearing heels, though, as the sidewalks can be a little uneven and rough. Recommend taking a Lyft or other ride to avoid the narrow streets and crowds. There are golf carts for hire too! Take a load off, enjoy some food & imbibe some more! Let someone else drive.

    Sushi places.

Las Olas Boulevard is a major east-west thoroughfare in Fort Lauderdale that runs from SW 1st Avenue in the Central Business District to A1A in Fort Lauderdale Beach. The name "Las Olas" means "The Waves" in Spanish. The road once carried the designations of State Road A1A Alt. and State Road 842. If you are a tourist, you will most likely come to this area for dining, drinking and other types of entertainment. You can easily get a gelato for a few bucks, empanada, cigar bar, sushi, or a $50+ steak....pretty much whatever you want at any price point. The easternmost section begins on a barrier island and crosses the intracoastal waterway. The road then enters the residential neighborhoods of Seven Isles and Hendricks and Venice Isles. West of SE 17th Avenue, the road enters a commercial shopping district, which is itself colloquially called "Las Olas". This portion of the road is lined with low and mid-rise bars, nightclubs, bridal stores, shops, boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. The road passes over the Henry E. Kinney Tunnel and enters the city's financial district. The westernmost part of the street is predominantly lined by high-rises that are close the the area known as the Riverwalk. The boulevard was constructed in 1917, when Las Olas was just a dirt road that crossed the swampy wetlands to the barrier island at Fort Lauderdale Beach. The Las Olas Isles were dredged in the 1920s to create land for a waterfront residential district. The modern commercial segment of Las Olas Boulevard was constructed during the Post World War II era. The buildings surrounding the westernmost downtown segment underwent significant redevelopment since the 1970s. In the early 1980s, Las Olas went through a major renovation program to enhance property values. The land was worth much more than that of the standing homes. It was decided that anyone who wished to buy property on one of the isles would have to tear down the existing home and build a home of equal or greater value than the land. Professional tour companies provide tours that take people down the waterways to show off the celebrities homes and yachts. Las Olas is a commercial area that it's close enough to the Intracoastal and the River that you can enjoy water views and waterfront dining, just steps from the main drag. In 2020, the city completed construction on the $49 million Las Olas Oceanside Park project at the intersection of Florida State Road A1A and Las Olas Boulevard. This project provided a 650-space parking garage behind and a beachfront park and plaza. The park hosts a variety of events, including farmers markets, fitness and art events. During the summer of 2022, much construction is being done around Las Olas and Federal, right by the tunnel, so be aware of traffic delays during busy times. Where Las Olas meets A1A, many Friday nights, you can join others for free open air concerts on the lawn....during holidays you can find many special events that range from farmer's markets to craft vendors to more music....

What it is, is an amazing point of visual design architecture as well as a matter of local flavor. Located next to the extreme northwest corner of Hugh Taylor Birch State Park it actually extends out over the Intracoastal Waterway. Being so unusual and unique, it abounds with all sorts of rumor and gossip. Any young local child will tell you it is the home of the legendary Captain Nemo while some tour guides claim it to have been the "playhouse" of Burt Reynolds while others say it was that of Hugh Heffner; all of which I believe to be hogwash. Some claim it as being a Bill Bigamy design in which every other floorboard is glass to watch the water underneath. The same architect that built 17th street bridge But I think the most credible statement is that of Dan Duckham, the architect who said: "The client was a bachelor and a general contractor who owned a unique lot on a very wide section of the Intracoastal Waterway. The unique part was that a portion of the lot was actually under water as indicated on the legal survey. The design proceeded with the bold assumption that we could actually do it, and amazingly it was approved by the Corp of Engineers. Part of the structure is on dry land but overhangs the seawall and the main living/dining/kitchen is suspended over the water, supported on two large pile caps. Columns and long span concrete beams were formed and poured on the site and lifted in place by crane. The landside part contains the owner's office, Master Bedroom and Guest Bedroom, and is connected by the Foyer. Miraculously, it's still there." But no matter, it's a site of local flavor and architecture not to be missed.

Galt was the son of the law partner of Hugh Taylor Birch, who once owned most of what is today's Fort Lauderdale Beach. During Florida's Land Boom years in the 1920's, the the Countess of Lauderdale, Gwendolyn Maitland, decided to create a resort to rival Palm Beach in Fort Lauderdale. Her partners in the project included two Lords, a Viscount, an ex-King of Greece fellow aristocratic Palm Beachers, including society's ruling Grande dame, Mrs. E.T Stotesbury. The new resort town, incorporated on November 25, 1925, was called Floranada, a combination "Florida" and "Canada." The cornerstone was laid for Florinada Inn, a golf course was built and a narrow-gauge railroad was ordered. Hurricanes and the Great Depression caused the end of Florida's land boom. The company had sold only a few lots and the money on these was refunded and the land reverted to Galt with no other buyers. In 1927 the last remaining oceanfront public beaches in the city of Fort Lauderdale were declared off limits to blacks, so they used the Ocean Mile, which became known as the black beach. Galt held on and refused to sell his land to just anyone and he turned down an offer for a trailer park. In 1953, Coral Ridge Properties, Inc. formed by James S. Hunt and Stephen Calder purchased a tract of land from Arthur Galt from what is now Fort Lauderdale north from Sunrise Boulevard, between U.S. 1 and the Intracoastal Waterway north to Floranada Road plus the ocean frontage north of Oakland Park Boulevard. The sale was $19.4 million, the largest real estate development deal ever recorded in Florida at the time. Coral Ridge Properties subdivided the land and as sections were developed, they were annexed by the City of Ft. Lauderdale. Soon after hotels and other buildings began popping up. The first building was The Beach Club located where part of the L' Hermitage Condos now stand. The first oceanfront hotel, the four million, 257 room Galt Ocean Mile Hotel opened in 1957. Coral Ridge Properties then built the Ocean Manor, the first high-rise hotel with beach frontage. The Mile developed rapidly as a local and tourist hot spot and sales began to boom with The Fountainhead and The Ocean Summit followed by the Commodore in 1965. Galt Ocean Mile became the premier spot for affluent retirees from the Northeast, the Midwest and Canada who wanted to escape harsh winters and bathe in the sun. Today, the Galt Ocean Mile is lined with high-rise condominiums and luxury dwellings worth millions of dollars. It is prized for its restaurants on the Intracostal Waterway, marinas, and proximity to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The community is considered to have the largest strip of high-rise condominiums in Fort Lauderdale and even has its own road, Galt Ocean Drive, which veers off State Road A1A at Oakland Park Boulevard. Through the years the once elderly population is shifting younger as it becomes attractive for up-and-coming professionals around the country. We came early so we didn't get to hear or see the show. And the staff was awesome and very attentive. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

This was one of the most disappointing endings to a fabulous dining experience…read more From the moment we sat down, we ordered everything. Cocktails immediately, appetizers, entrees. As soon as we got to dessert, it felt like the staff started circling our table like sharks. They dropped off our check with the dessert, which immediately made us feel like they wanted us out. Our server was absolutely wonderful, but you could tell he was uncomfortable putting the check down that early. Then a short, stocky manager (or whoever he was in a black jacket) came over and abruptly asked if everything was okay and whether we had a good time. We explained that it felt incredibly rude how much we were being rushed. Instead of acknowledging our concern, he dismissively threw his arm up and said, "Three hours," as if we were somehow the problem. Go check the cameras. We weren't sitting there doing nothing, we were eating and drinking at the pace the restaurant served us. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, entrees, wine, dessert, and coffee. We took advantage of everything the restaurant offered. It's not our fault that a full dining experience takes time. If the restaurant needed the table, that's understandable. A professional manager simply says, "I'm so sorry, but we have other reservations waiting. Would you mind finishing your drinks at the bar?" Most people would completely understand. Instead, we were made to feel like an inconvenience after spending hundreds of dollars. The food was good, and our server was excellent. Unfortunately, the management completely ruined the experience with their attitude and lack of professionalism. We're from New York City, where restaurants are busy every night, and I've never been treated this way. If you want to enjoy a relaxed dinner without feeling rushed out the door, I'd recommend going somewhere else. This restaurant seems far more focused on turning tables than making guests feel welcome. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had.
