I had the fear of god drilled into me by numerous physicians to avoid infection since being diagnosed diabetic. AS the P.A.'s are trained for the more common used procedure that is their go to. Since I now understand he is a gifted surgeon it makes sense that his time is better served elsewhere. Rather than blow me off and refer me out to another med clinic they took the opportunity to bring in a rep from the ultrasound maker they put in your septic treatment facility to see your prostate with the latest and greatest version and used it as a staff training day AFTER the doc finished surgery for the day. The doc performed the procedure learning the new added ability's of the machine while four P.A's observed and were also trained. I call that above and beyond and am grateful to all for their patience and understanding. They do care and do deserve 5 stars and I do recommend them. Oh and guys don't be concerned about that tool that goes up the septic, It's an odd sensation but all the pain is from the biopsies and needle and as soon as the needle is with drawn all pain goes away. That is until you forget about that tape that was used to separate your recreation area from your septic treatment facility is removed! LOL

It kind of hurts hearing that but I'm going to focus on the fact that I know Dr. Freedman will be taking care me. Another thing I loved about this process is that it's so quick, outside the scheduling of the surgery as I was hoping to get it done next week. But my blood sample was done downstairs, ekg happened within 5 minutes, and everything else is just so fast. When I was working, I had annual physicals done and my follow up just took so long to get back. Here, you get your results through a partnered website. I'm glad I'm still healthy lol. A lot of the issues I had, mostly the cost, was addressed and thank you to the staff for being quick and responding well to my concerns. I'll update in a month after I get my surgery done.

You're not in good hands here when you need help…read more I visited Dr. Sheldon Freedman, MD only once, and during that appointment I felt well taken care of. Dr. Freedman was friendly, professional, and appeared to be competent. After that visit, I needed additional testing by an endocrinologist. Unfortunately, despite waiting for approximately six weeks, I still had not received the required referral. Only after repeated follow-up requests was the referral finally provided. Following further communication problems with Dr. Freedman's office staff, I was surprised to receive a certified letter informing me that I was being dismissed as a patient. The letter stated that Dr. Freedman would no longer provide my urologic care and that I should find another physician within 30 days. The end result was extremely disappointing. I paid approximately $300 out of my own pocket for a medical visit that did not move my treatment forward in any way. Instead, I spent weeks dealing with administrative delays, poor communication, and ultimately being dismissed as a patient. To be clear, I have no complaints about Dr. Sheldon Freedman personally. He was courteous, kind, and competent during my appointment. My experience was negatively affected by what I believe were serious administrative and communication failures within his office. I strongly suspect Dr. Freedman may not even be aware of how this situation was handled but of course, I cannot know that for certain.

Before my urinalysis, I was told "you're loud" & "you're scaring the patients" plus, to hurry up with my business of using the rest room as "there is a long line waiting". In reality, there was no one else behind me. The person insulting me was not even my assigned medical aide. I was clearly upset, and wished to pass my sample to the tattooed woman handling my test & return to the lobby. I was told "we don't have a lobby" & "you're done with your appointment". I had an elevated PSA. I wanted to have this checked for possible cancer. Instead, I was responded with rude behavior & a canceled appointment. I said I was insulted, and I was met with "no, I didn't" by the individual who instigated this. I was also told I would be escorted by security if I did not leave, & you're "not getting" my name by the offending party, as she scurried away like a child caught telling a lie. Security guards Andre & Ebonnie spoke with me, and showed compassion & empathy that the personnel working at this clinic completely lacked. Contrasted sharply with security, it was a clear indication of the quality of care one should expect from the untrained healthcare aides who will be treating you here. Do yourself a favor & schedule another location, if not another specialist company entirely. As a side note, I arranged this visit before my air travel to see my father, who is in hospice care. This was a time-sensitive visit, thrown in the trash by unsympathetic medical assistants, lacking in basic common courtesy & ignorant of proper patient dignity.

My wife drove me the 12 hours and we had the mesh removed. It was the best decision I have ever made at a fair price and I don't know if I would still be alive. Don't believe doctors that tell you that you are fine having plastic in your body even with multiple opinions. They work for the insurance companies! Had mesh removal in 2015 and never looked back. My doctor had assured me that the mesh technique for hernia repair surgery was the no-brainer, no-worries way to go. The rate for post-operative hernia recurrence was only 2%. He even gave me the option of state-of-the-art robotic surgery involving only 3 small incisions with minimal pain, that would have me "back in the saddle" in just 2 weeks. Sounded good. When I asked him how many "mesh" surgeries he had performed, he smiled and looked to me as if he was counting. "Hundreds?" I offered. "O yeah," he said with confidence. I made my appointment for surgery and left the office fairly optimistic, with a brochure in hand that explained the minimally-invasive, allegedly no-complications, no-side-effects mesh surgery. It all seemed so "slam-dunk." But something about it was bothering me. A few days later I went online to do my due diligence and check out this so-called safe and easy mesh surgery. What was this? 20% chance of chronic pain?...Debilitating, dagger-like pain from "migrating" mesh?...Horror stories of men who had lost their reproductive powers?...Doctors washing their hands of any liability? Then I found Dr. Petersen's website. Honestly, after reading his information on the risks of mesh and the benefits of his technique, I felt both relieved and skeptical. Well, I figured, I may as well fill out the online questionnaire. It only took 5 or 10 minutes. The survey said Petersen's office would get back to me soon. This was Friday night. They contacted me on Monday. A couple phone calls later, I was talking with Dr. Petersen himself. I had prepared a list of questions, including this big one: "How many non-mesh hernia surgeries have you performed?" "7000," he answered matter-of-factly. "Around 7000?" I repeated the number, to be sure I heard it right. "It's 7000," he said with quiet confidence. Seven-thousand? Holy cow! "And your recurrrence rate?" "2.7," he replied, again without hesitation. Only .7% higher risk than with mesh surgery. At that point I remember thinking I would sure like to go to Las Vegas. Then the doctor had some questions for me, and he determined from my answers that with mesh surgery I would be at very high risk for chronic pain. I believed him, but still...he was 7 hours away by car. So, a few days later I called my "mesh doctor" and asked him if he performed non-mesh surgery or knew of any doctor in the local area who did. He said No to both questions. I thought about bringing up the potential side effects of mesh. But he hadn't volunteered that information during my office visit, so how could I trust his answer now? Dr. Petersen's frank yet soft-spoken manner had won me over. That was it. I was going to Vegas. I cancelled my mesh surgery and scheduled a surgery with Dr. Petersen. Fortunately he was able to see me the following week. Long story short, the trip to Las Vegas was worth it. I am very impressed with Dr. Petersen as well as with his staff and assistants. They were all friendly, reassuring and compassionate from beginning to end. And his office is checking in on me regularly to make sure I'm okay. (Will a mesh surgeon do that?) I'm writing this testimonial 2 weeks after my surgery. Sure, there was and there still is some pain (Hello, it's SURGERY okay?) but it's fading day by day. If I wish, I could experience even less pain, but I'm not a big fan of pain pills. I took less than half of the pain meds Dr. Petersen's prescription allowed. If you have a hernia and are considering mesh repair, listen to me. My only "agenda" is that I'm a very satisfied patient who wants other men and women to be healthy and live without chronic pain.
