Here is the thing about Jackie Ha: she is a perfectionist. She has a vision of what will work for you, but runs pictures and ideas past you first to make sure sure you agree. She did a trial for my wedding hair and make up to try different color palettes and took pictures to decide if she liked the outcome. She experimented with a couple of other colors before deciding on a combination of effects. With all of the other decisions and things I had to do the weeks before the wedding, it was a huge relief to be able to rely on Jackie to choose the right look for me and my bridesmaids, as well as setting up the "get ready" schedule and sending it out to the girls. A prime example of Jackie's rare blend of knowledge/maturity and fresh/current style, she took one look at a picture of my wedding dress and saw what no one else would have--that if I wanted a half up-do, I would need to have extensions to make the hair hit the back of the dress at the right place. I never had extensions before and was nebulous, but it ended up being a huge hit. She matched my hair color perfectly and found the right length and put them in in record time. She is at once attentive and intuitive. I was already set on using Jackie for my important day, but the final reason I felt comfortable with using her besides her excellent reputation among my friends, was that she said she could also cover up the big tattoo on my scapula (you are just not thinking about your wedding day when you are 19 in Amsterdam craving a tattoo from the same artist that did Antony Kiedis from Red Hot Chili Peppers, are you?). It is red and black and thick (Molly the Jackhammer was the artist's name, guess how much it hurt?)--and Jackie worked a miracle that will allow me to look my future children straight in the eye and tell them no way no how are they getting a tattoo, "Mommy can't let you desecrate your sweet skin that way--see my unblemished skin in my wedding pictures?" The only other time I have had professional make up done at a wedding, the crew left once the ceremony started, but Jackie will stay for touch ups for pictures and, in my case, helped me take off the veil and add flowers to my hair so it would look different for the reception. She is also currently about half the price of other wedding make-up artists. And a quick note on hygiene, Jackie noted that the brushes and mascara she was using were just for me and had all been sterilized. I typically don't wear very much make up and still didn't break out after the wedding. Finally, Jackie is a perfect combination of efficiency and kindness. Each of my bridesmaids felt beautiful and were taken care of in about a 30 minutes. I recently went back to Jackie to get a full set of Premium Volume 2D-6D lashes and I loved the upgrade! They were fuller and seemed to last longer than the Glam Full set that I got last time. Also, these eyelashes felt so natural and soft and didn't seem to weigh down my natural eyelashes. In fact, they were excellent for butterfly kisses! It took a while to have them applied (about 3 hours), but it was well worth the time; I got so many compliments! Something important to note: DO NOT WEAR MASCARA! If you have fiber-lash mascara, don't wear it for several days leading up to your appointment. The first time I got my eyelashes done, I did just that and there were no issues. But this time, I wore mascara the day before and thought I got it off. Not so much. My mascara apparently majorly clings to the eyelashes and this added to the application time. I used to go to Jackie faithfully for over a year; in fact, she was my first lash lady. She did an awesome job on my lashes and I thought she was friendly. I was so impressed by her work that I even referred her to several of my friends. Sadly though, I think she only values certain customers because she took advantage of my flexibility and started to get quite flaky with my appointments. Several times, she texted me on short notice to say there was a booking problem and would last minute ask if I could come earlier or later than my originally requested appointment time. Since I was able to change my schedule easily and live close by, I didn't mind but it started happening more and more frequently that it was getting to be inconvenient. Plus, you know when you're due for a fill it's not at all convenient to have to push your appointment out later, looking like you're down to your last lash. The last two times this short notice, appointment change happened, she completely cancelled on me and said she'd get back to me for a reschedule. Both times she was apologetic however the 2nd time (and last straw), she never got back to me to reschedule. I took it upon myself to re-book my appointment but even then she didn't text to confirm or follow up like she normally did and basically ignore the fact that she flaked on me. I took this as she simply didn't care for my business or didn't see anything wrong with the on-going schedule problems, so I ended up just cancelling my appointment and decided to party ways with Jackie. I get it, she has probably gotten a lot busier from when I first started seeing her, but it was pretty disappointing that she didn't seem to value a long time, loyal customer. read more
