You have to check it out! Before you even go here, you have to understand the concept. They're random items. Some returns. Some overstocked (unopened goodies). Some expired food. Some random pile of textile. They're a bunch of random items priced on the day off. Some items are worth way more than you pay for, others will make you scratch your head as to why it's even being sold, not trashed. Again, you have to remember, they just get it in bulk. I personally only purchase things here where I know it's worth more than what I'm paying for. Examples of what I paid for and what it normally costs. - $1 each for $20 each worth throw pillows from Target, still in sealed plastic bags - $1 for a small table lamp probably worth $10 at Target - $1 exercise hoop worth $25 at Amazon - $1 alarm clock worth $25 at Amazon - $1 1000 pieces puzzles, we all know what's worth more than a $1 lol - $1 bag of 6 jump ropes, no idea how much each would have cost - $1 unicorn stuffed toy worth $35 at Amazon - $3 for two under the sink double tray, usually around $15 each - $10 puzzle easel worth $130 Some days I'm here and I walk out with nothing. Some days, l get super lucky, like the puzzle easel that I was actually looking for to use for myself. I've seen people walk away with rugs, big box of storage containers, kitchen appliances ... Items definitely worth more than $15. I'd shy away from electronics of any form, because again, you have to wonder why it was returned. This place is not for everyone. I say it's more of an experience of a fun hunt. I think the best days are Fridays and Wednesdays Friday, you go early to get your first dibs. Today was my first time going on a Saturday just to check it out and this is when I found my puzzle easel, so I guess it's also a good time to see what others pass up on. Wednesdays ($1) is good and have been recommended by others because everything is a dollar and it's surprising what you can snag for a dollar! Dumpster Diving in a retail space. Last Chance... before this crap hits the landfill should be it's true name. For the majority of people that curiously enter this store it doesn't take more than one aisle of crap to just turnaround and leave. But are there any hidden diamonds in this mountain of trash? Truths: 1. This is primarily liquidated junk (returns, damaged goods) from Target and Amazon Essentials. So at least there's some brand recognition. There's a lot of random crap where the origin in unknown. 2. The majority of items have been picked through several times before it even hits their aisles for the public to buy.. The original purchaser at the auction kept the most valuable stuff, then this store owner and their friends and family get their share. You're literally last in line.. 3. Are there any good deals here? Friday is when they supposedly have the best items and that's why it's $15 per item. I have seen people walk out with full area rugs on their back on a Friday. Here's a personal example of something I bought on a Sunday ($7 day). A pair of girls jeans that are sold at Target for $23. No defects at all and tags still on jeans. So yes, there are some deals to be had. Would these items still be there on $1 day? Probably not. So shopping here requires a strategy. Get greedy and come back on a lower price day and it might be long gone. Best day Is probably $3 day. Most people wait for 1 dollar days. 4. Who is their customers base? Besides lookie-loos, they're junk resellers that basically find salvageable items and then resell them on ebay, back on Amazon, or the local swap meet. 5. There's a little bit of sketchy to this store. Some clothing still had a security device still attached?!? 6. $15 day update. If you've been here on $3 day and thought everything was crap try early on $15 day. I found floating shelves new in box for $15 and they were $30 on Amazon. Also bought a stainless steel toaster for $15 new in box and it was $40 at Walmart. So you might find something you actually need. Tip- Beat the resellers. Often they come on Friday just to scout out what's available and then come back later in the week (lower price days).. Often they will try and hide good items to make sure they last long enough to buy it on a lower priced day. Look at the tables farthest from the front door and dig to the bottom. Another dirty trick they do is to open a box of something completely worthless (figure some obscure auto part or anything very specialized). They dump the contents out of the box and hide their prized items in that box knowing it's unlikely that anyone will notice. So if you see boxes and it looks like the contents of the original box are strewn around you may have found someone else stash.. Summation - It's gross and kinda fun at the same time. While this may be at treasure trove for some, it was a garbage heap for me. I visited this store on the most expensive day where everything was $15 (Friday) and freshly stocked, with what I imagine is the cream of the crop items available here. They are closed 1 day for stocking, then the price gradually drops day by day Closed Thursday, Friday $15, Saturday $10, Sunday $7, Monday $5, Tuesday $3, Wednesday $1 rinse and repeat. While some may find some awesome deals, I can only imagine that you better nab them on the day after stocking. My experience here was that each of the aisles were filled with garbage. From dollar store items, to broken items, open and empty boxes. Stained and torn clothes etc. I can only guess that items are purchased in bulk, from amazon and other warehouse returns. I did see someone who had a bunch of inflatable mattresses in their cart, as well as some others scanning items on the amazon app (Presumably trying to see what they could resell). The Last Chance Store is a great concept. The problem is many customers rip open boxes and dump everything helter-skelter into the bins. By $7 day, it's a huge mess that makes Goodwill look like a curio shop. As long as you're buying something that's clearly a single item (e.g., a stuffed animal, a prom dress, or a pair of shoes), you might find a great deal. But if the item has multiple components, you may need to really look everything over and scrounge around for the original packaging and barcode to convince the cashier that the items are indeed a set. Note: Good luck finding all the pieces! There are no returns allowed, but there is a mysterious fee they'll add to your total after taxes that is not explained or mentioned anywhere. Mine was $0.66 for three items on $5 day. Be sure to ask for a receipt or have one emailed to you. The higher value items are displayed directly across from the register but are listed at close-to-retail prices. Of the four times I've been by, higher pricing seemed to deter interest. So, is it worth the stop? Yes, if you're already in the area, just curious what the fuss is about, and good at keeping your expectations low. Told us to get the fuck out. We went in to buy things. Searched around the bins for around 2 and a half hours. We found a backpack and put our stuff in it and at the end of our shopping spree, we laid everything out on the floor to see what we would end up buying (we wanted all the stuff, but not for $10). One of the owners came up to us and told us that bags were supposed to be left at the front. We told her we found the bag in the store and were using it to carry things but we would end up either buying it or leaving it. She walked away and everything seemed fine. Her son came up to us a minute later and told us to "pick our shit up and get the fuck out." We asked for the reason, but he said he wants us "the fuck out of here." I told him we were going to buy the stuff, but he was even more pissed. Then, we said we wouldn't be picking any of the shit up if they were going to be kicking us out for no reason. Watch out, they're mad rude and might kick you out when all you're trying to do is buy a bunch of stuff. read more

Was in San Diego and my daughter told me about this place., went there on a Monday where everything was $5. There's a lot of items that is worth $5 but there's also a lot that should be less than $5. Anyway, we came back on a Wednesday where everything is $1. The store opens at 9 am and we got there at 8:45 and there's a long line. Once we got in, it's like a zoo. Majority have their own bags and grabbing whatever they can resell. Make sure you have gloves on because there's a lot of broken glasses at the bottom of the tables. I wish when they are closed on Thursdays they would clean up the tables and get rid of broken items or at least find the missing pieces. There's a lot empty boxes and parts that belong to some items. Some people tend to open the boxes to see what's inside. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

Last Chance could have been better. Last Chance has tables full of products that range from electronics, food, decor, camping items, kitchen utensils, and much more. However, you must dig through hundreds of boxes to come across these items. Instead of grouping random items, the products could have been in bins solely for electronics, decor, etc. This made it very hard to find anything specific. Many of the boxes were opened. I believe this was due to the boxes not being labeled clearly. There were many boxes that did not have labeling so they had to be manually opened to see what was inside. If you do take the time to rummage every bin, you may find something of value. For example, my group went home with weighted blankets, cat toys, camping chairs, sound bars, wine decanters, drones, bar stools, and coffee bean grinders. Since we came on a Friday, each item was $15. I recommend bringing gloves and a sharp object to cut the tape off of boxes. Someone in our group came across something that was wet which was pretty gross.. Were the items a steal for $15 each? Sure! But the products could have been more organized. If they were, Last Chance may be able to make more money with less labor. read more

The place is disappointing. I went on a Friday when they supposedly restock. The bins are disappointing. There are not really any deals here. The stuff been poorly taped back together and customers open these up so the contents inside is all over the place. You could find something but the pieces could be all over inside. They do not really enforce the do not open the packages so it's pretty disorganized. It is spacious for the most part. They do have stuff priced high on the outside of the bins closer to the register. They look okay. It could use better lighting in that place. Overall this place was not really worth the trip even on their restock day. Nothing in the bin is really considered a deal for 15 dollars on a Friday. Yes the prices are great, so if you are looking for something in particular you might not find it but for sure if you are a hoarder of whatever is cheap, this is your kind of place. You have to go often and know what to look for to find the treasures. I bought 3 items today and was having a hard time getting the receipt from the clerk. I needed it because I was purchasing for my work and need it to be refunded the cash payment I made. The young man said the register did not work. Knowing that there was no way that was true I asked if they could fix the issue or write me a receipt. The older man there seemed to get the register to operate perfectly fine and I got a receipt. I went in here not knowing what to expect. First impression was that's a lot of digging people are going through to only discard whatever may have looked good and then start the process all over again only to repeat digging and toss that item to the side. There are a lot of tables full of things. Upon closer inspection I saw a lot of T-shirt's of many sizes, backpacks, flags, cups, fish tank accessories, car floor mats, earphones, luxury car accessories, towels just random things. I saw tore up packaging from Amazon and also some items had the target clearance sticker on it. The person I was with was trying to find treasures to send back home so I sat there off to the side protecting his loot. While sitting there for a long time unconsciously I started to people watch.. which lead to overhearing them talk. It sounded like resellers talking amongst each other and saying they can get this much out of this find. I thought that was great. I also saw some others appear to stalk so if you're into this kind of hustle then beware of your findings as well as your surroundings! Just when I thought all was said and done my friend came back over only to declare he needed to do a process of elimination. Lol that's when I decided let me take a shot at this and see what i can find for myself. Some tables may not be for the faint of heart- some of the things were obviously broken and used, worn. There was liquid spills on sone items, open food,cosmetics and vitamins. So if you are sensitive then maybe a pair of gloves can help while digging.
