I can not believe how much this place change in my life time. I love to see how a business can evolve in my life time, from a little Tex-Mex cafe with a back patio / stage for performance to now a full on concert venue with big name act coming here. They also have a dedicated parking lot. They do have a small kitchen that have food here. But it is all about the concert venue here now. Some part of the venue is not really handicap friendly here. Rolled up here this past Saturday for the Tropidelic concert. Wasn't sure what to expect when I got here as the photos made this seem like this was a restaurant with a stage area. Fortunately when I arrived, I followed the sign to the gate area where there's a more open area for bands to play in an outside covered area. The merchandise tables are on the left when you walk in. Go further to the left and there's a walk-up bar, seating, a small food stand and restrooms behind the bar area. Concerns eased! Had a blast watching the show which included Joey Harkum as the opener and then the Kyle Smith band as the middle act before the main act. The crowd brought awesome energy and all the bands crushed their performances. Plus the floor is very close to the stage so I was able to be up front and center to where you could slap hands with the performers if they feel like it. Only issue is parking. I heard the stories about the parking situations here and noticed that people had trouble parking or trying to figure out if they would be towed. I'd recommend doing lyft/uber here so it's one less headache to worry about. Look forward to more shows here! read more

Love this place however, beware of the Valet. He had no problem charging me double ($31.20) on my card for parking last night (The Red Stray Clays) and allowed me to walk away...didn't say a thing. Thankfully my bank sends me a text and when I saw the charge and walked back to him, he immediately apologized and gave me back $15 in cash. Sunday brunch jam session is legen- wait for it- dary. When it is nice weather and daydrinking on a patio is the plan put in front of you by the good lord below this is the place to be on Sunday to enjoy some tunes, appreciate a pretty drink, and have some tex-mex all at the same spot. The strawberry margarita is not just pretty, it is very pretty. LOOK AT IT. I would have liked to have known what the velveeta looking saucer was on the table, but I assumed it was velveeta and treated it accordingly. (If any drag queens were considering using a stage name of Velveeta: just don't. For two reasons at least.) The tex-mex fajita omelet took forever for the kitchen to produce. After it had been over 30 minutes and we had not seen our waiter the Lieutenant just flagged down another waitress to go make inquiries. We never got a very good answer, just that it took some time. Well, like duh, sister. Apparently they had to go out back and slaughter the cow with a ritual dagger first or something like that. I feel like there was enough time from this spot in the Warehouse District to actually walk back to Market Square, wait in line at Niko's, and walk back with Greekfast. But then you miss the music. I mean, the music was nice when it was going but they did take frequent lengthy breaks. If trad jazz trios are the internet meme with the guy staring at himself in the mirror pumping himself up to go hard for hours, then this is more the internet meme of the college age millennial drinking a beer now and getting around to other stuff later when it won't stress him out too much. And I wanted another margarita, especially after sitting there staring at an empty margarita chalice for what must have been 45 minutes. Our waiter didn't show his face until we had been ignored for what was nearly an hour, with the food. Given how long the food took it would probably have taken another hour for him to freshen my drink so instead we just ate and moseyed on out to where ever else liquor resides. The service left quite a bit to be desired for a cantina type joint where they basically just bring you stuff and you don't expect sparkling conversation since you want to listen to tunes. But the music was great when the musicians were going, the patio was perfect in nice weather, and that one drink was hella pretty. I could not advise coming here if you were hungry at the time since they are pretty dang leisurely about bringing you food and whatever in the HECK that velveeta dish saucer truly is remains a mystery. 5 STARS FUN FUN FUN!! Oh and great authentic Tex Mex too. Wow. What a great time my friends and I had at Last Concert. This place has some serious and unique history and wow, how things and times have changed. Never even heard of this place until my good friend told me about it while getting a pedi. I thought, what a great way to spend our Saturday evening. So we all went! Unbeknownst to me, this is also a very well known and liked/beloved Mexican Restaurant. Very small and quaint for sure. I'm an early bird, so me and my man arrived early and I'm so glad we did. A very popular and well known Cover Band named SkyRocket, played that evening. They are from ATX. They RAWKED the freakin house! I felt like I was back in High School and College. So much fun and they were all on par with the songs, singing and instruments. Very talented musicians. Lots to know here to impress your date or not to be stressed. First, know that you will pay up to $25 per person to see and hear the concert. Very worth it. 2nd-the Restaurant is very much first come first serve. Especially when popular bands such as SkyRocket are playing. We arrived, valet only at $10 up front too BTW, and got our concert tix and headed to the tiny bar and waited for our other friends. Now it's wise to prepay Online for the concerts. We will definitely do that next time. We got seated and ate around 7:30 which is perfect cus the band didn't start until I think 9:30pm. The food was delicious! I definitely did not expect such authentic tasting Tex Mex. Small 1 page menu which is great. The drinks were good too. Frozen Margaritas were perfect as it's still pretty hot and humid in Houston for late September early Oct. There is seating in and outdoors too. Obviously outdoors is way more fun. Once SkyRocket started up, we were moved to go in and enjoy the concert standing room only. Whoop! Good times had by all. Definitely a place we will visit again real soon. So much fun. Nice venue, but TERRIBLE management. If you have an issue, as I did, you cannot reach anyone to have it resolved. They double charged me because their website wasn't clear. When I got there the person at the front told me they were aware of the issue but they couldn't process refunds. So I disputed it with AMEX and LOST! Their 3rd party ticketing company has it down to a science. Big scam if you ask me - total fraud. I'm looking for my next avenue to go after them. Anyone have same problem contact me. read more

Hidden in the Warehouse District amongst studios and abandoned houses is Last Concert Cafe, a hidden Houston gem that every self-proclaimed native or visiting tourist should experience. The menu is your typical Tex-Mex fare, but LCC's pan y mantequilla (ahem, bread and butter) is its eclectic atmosphere and outdoor live music venue. You could dine inside, as quaint and pleasant the decor is, but I recommend grabbing a seat outside, either in one of the private little rooms (or "mini-casas") or further back and closer to the stage. Check their website for their list of shows, but Wednesday's Pot Roast is a local favorite. Keep in mind that if you do venture out back during a show, there's a cover, but it's well worth it. And while your wallet's out, rummage through the jeweled goods sold out back by "watch yo step" man. If you want to kick off your shoes and dance around in the beach sand in front of the stage, do it. If you want to grab a hula hoop and work off that third taco, go for it. If you want to give everyone a laser spectacular show with your new glow sticks, why not? Anything goes at Last Concert Cafe. (Hey, I once ate a cup of queso for 20 bucks. The ol' bossman made me do it.) Some call it a big hippie hangout, but live show entertainment ranges from local country acts to daytime electronic music festivals (Prai Urbana), cover bands ... all sorts. Last Concert Cafe is truly a diamond in the rough. Tips: Be careful where you park, be it for towing or a crazy homeless dude. They have strange hours, so call before you go. If you do choose to order some grub off the menu, a couple of my faves are: the creamy guac with a few lumps of avocado, the cilantro-infused queso and salsa, tres leches and chocolate flan. As you can tell, I'm big on apps and dessert. Service can be a bit ify; sometimes they're understaffed for lunch, but just chill out and have a good time. There's a tiny bar inside (serving up 'ritas a great assortment of bottled beer--no micheladas), as well as a few out back which only open up on busier nights, along with picnic tables, heat lamps for the colder months and fans for the treacherous summer. read more

I went here on a Sunday night and it was not busy. They had a good rock/blues band playing until 8:30pm and then a comic came on. You can sit outside away from the music/stage so it isn't as loud. There is also indoor seating away from the stage. The stage is in a middle area between the inside and outdoor patios. It is a very relaxing environment. They bring you chips and salsa. We ordered the Big Mamma meal for $16 and it included: three beef enchiladas, beans/rice, guacamole, two beef tacos, cheese tostada. Plenty to share with two or three people. Food was good, but not as good as other Mexican restaurants in the area. This is a place you go to for the entertainment. Sometimes they charge a cover for the band. Check the website for future events. There is metered street parking, which is free on Sundays. I would go back if there was a band playing I wanted to hear and I would eat. The food is great, the prices are average, the beer selection is sub par and not good. The drinks are ok and not bad. The music is great, the dance floor is horrible. There isn't one. We bought tickets for a table to see a band, without knowing that this is an OUTDOOR VENUE IN HOUSTON, TEXAS IN THE SUMMER. So, there's that. There is no parking --- so there's that, too. (Luckily, our friends knew about this and we took an Uber.) The venue is covered with vinyl, which is good in case of a storm (which had been predicted but did not occur), but limits the flow of air. There are fans, but when you're back in the table area, you don't get much air circulation. I'm glad we got a table so that we did not have to stand up, but the stools (metal, no backs) are fairly brutal. And certainly, the acoustics leave something to be desired. I wore earplugs for protection, but kept getting shrill feedback from time to time in my left ear. We drank water, so I have no idea about the bar drinks. It would not be my first choice of venue, but I *might* return for the right performance. Maybe. Oh: note that the standing area has a sand floor. You might want to skip the sandals. read more

After a work-out on a Monday night I wanted to gain all those lost calories so my friend and I opted for some Tex-Mex. I had always heard LCC was a place to be. I was wondering how it would be on a Monday night. We looked for a safe parking spot along the street where we wouldn't be towed and walk on over. The door was locked...we were like DAMN it's closed! But it says knock and wait... Sure enough after about a minute someone comes to open the door. Very strange, but I guess the area is not the best place to leave your door open. I had the Pauls tosta burger and my friend had the Burrito grandiosa. We also started out with the Crab jalepenos. The food here is nothing to brag about but their atmosphere is why you should return. Right when you enter it's your typical restaurant, but if you go further in you are welcomed to a mini oasis. Very VERY Bohemian... you might forget you're in Houston... it's too Hip... The Last Concert Cafe has been and remains one of Houston's greatest underground/alternative secrets, if you can find it. Freaks and Hippies have been hanging here for 20+ years now, with live music six nights a week. Carolyn Wonderland still does a monthly gig here, Houston's best South Coast Rock & Rhythm & Blues band, The Hightailers still play every Thursday Night, Rice U. favorites Pot Roast are here every Wednesday, and its' back patio & outdoor stage area is possibly the friendliest place in Houston (although Super-Happy Funland is a close second). The food is adequate Tex-Mex. The Kitchen closes at 10:30, although the bands often play until 2 or 3 a.m. Have fun! read more

This is a hidden gem/dive bar/Tex-Mex restaurant in the Warehouse District. We biked there, and they were nice enough to let us chain our bikes on the front patio. (A good idea since it is Downtown, and you will run into the occasional homeless person.) As the name implies, Last Concert Cafe has live music that ranges from rock cover songs to electronica, depending on the night. I would give two thumbs up to the vegan enchiladas with red sauce. Saw the Heartless Bastards here 6/3/23; The HB's are a great band. I drove 300+ miles to Houston to catch the show. Very disappointed in the venue. Sound was horrible. Won't ever go back to this venue. Should have stayed home, saved some green and just listened to "Arrow" and "Beautiful Life" on a quality sound system so I could enjoy the music and understand the lyrics! They keep the music alive until whatever time you feel like. This place is a staple for local music. I love the intimate setting and the local acts like Craig Kinsey, Charles Bryant, etc. They always have good musicians and songwriters comein to town and do a set as tradition. Many were made there. I saw the Futurebirds here, and it was totally "rock n roll". The intimate atmosphere and easy bar access makes this place awesome.

I have been hanging out here for a few years, but that doesn't even come close to how long some of the regulars have been hanging out! With a namesake that is recognizable almost anywhere in this great city, if you haven't stopped by, you must; and well, if you have, stop by again! If you score a seat in the small indoor dining area you may think yourself lucky. And you are, you are still going to get a great plate of true Tex-Mex (most of the food is great and cheesy and cilantroey) and sit right by the full bar, but hold your hungry horses and make your way out back to the patio because this is where you get the full experience. Maybe not the FULL experience, but pretty close. Hopefully one of Houston local musical geniuses will be jammin' out and you can sit back and sip on your margarita and just enjoy. Wanna burn that cheese enchilada off...take a turn at the hula-hooping! Yeah, you heard me. Right in front of the stage and toe deep in sand, you can take your hand at a little wiggle with the hoop. The service here has always been great and helpful. Another eclectic destination for food, drink and entertainment. The times that I have seen bands here, the crowd/entertainment has the same vibe as Renaissance Festival without trying to get you to buy something. Hoola Hoop dancers in the sand, incense (maybe something else burning) with the band onstage keep the atmophere very casual and non - judgemental. If the very large back gate isn't open, you will have to knock on the front door. Behind the front door is about an 8 table seating area with the bar. There is more seating outside and 2 (maybe more) buildings across from the main one that houses additional seating and uniquely, primitive, clean restrooms. There is only street parking which can be challenging. Although I will not be ordering the vegan enchiladas again, I will certainly be back because I don't follow the crowd either. read more
