From the outside looking I would not have know this place was a bar. I thought it was a tire shop haha, but once you go inside, it's a vibe. The decor is cool and they have music playing, its nice. To drink I got the Chiquita (blue pina colada) and my friend got the Tamarindito. The chiquita was very tasty, it was a great for being on the rocks. I loved whatever they used for the rim. The tamarindito was perfect for my buddy but not for me. It was a bit too smokey for my taste. We saw a lot of people ordering the espresso Martinis, so we wanted to give them a try as well. The espressos here are different than any espresso I've had in the past. The espresso martini here have a cinnamon taste to it, similar to Mexican hot chocolate. Came here for their "free" crawfish. Is something really free when you have to buy something to receive it? When you buy a drink, you get free crawfish to go along with it. Understand that you get what you pay for, so don't expect the crawfish to be top tier. The drinks on the other hand were delicious and strong. Just how I like them! The atmosphere was nice as well, other than the three LOUD, drunk females that were singing at the top of their lungs. But hey.. it's a bar and they were having a good time, so. There's not a lot of seating area inside, but they do offer patio seating as well, so that's a plus. Parking is available across the street in a dirt lot and along the street in front of the bar. The bar itself is nice -- cozy spot with good prices. But our experience with the bartender, Sherry (pink hair), was really disappointing. We were a group of 9, ordered drinks, and one friend accidentally turned the music up for just a few seconds before lowering it and apologizing. Instead of handling it calmly, Sherry got upset, spoke to us rudely, and even grabbed the tablet out of my friend's hand. The vibe went downhill fast. My friends and I were looking to try out a new bar in the downtown area, and we stumbled across this little hidden gem. It really was a little hidden as we drove by a few times just to make sure we were at the right place. There's a unpaved parking lot across the street or you can street park. I'm gonna be honest and say the surrounding area is a little sketch. Walking up, we didn't even know which was to enter, but the taco vendor outside told us where the door is. Walking in, our apprehensions quickly went away! The place was nice and clean, and neatly decorated. The music was on point and the overall vibes were great. The two gentlemen behind the bar were effortlessly handling the constant drink orders and doing it with a smile. From the outside, you would never think that this place serves expertly crafted cocktails. I started off with an espresso martini and it was very good. Not too sweet with coffee being the star of the drink. We watched as they brewed the espresso and made the drink. It was even nicely presented. My girlfriend and I came for our friend Latenite's DJ set here on a Friday night! We didn't know what to expect given it was our first time coming out here, But I am so happy we came with some room in our stomachs. The restaurant/bar is 21+ but had no cover. As soon as we walked in there were 2 bbq style vendors serving up tasty bites so we knew our tummies would be taken care of. We ordered a loaded brisket waffle plate prepared with nacho style toppings and condiments. It was super heavy, savory, and delicious. The cook told us their large ($22) was enough for 2, but bro, it fed me, my girlfriend, and even a few of our other friends had some bites! Great value. When our friend's DJ set started we went inside to support, drink and dance. For being such a small bar I was not expecting the cocktails to be so damn good. I ordered the purply Taro cocktail (La Sancha $13) and my girlfriend had her espresso martini for a pick-me-up. They were both amazing. I let friends try my cocktail and they all loved it! The creaminess, subtle sweet taro, and chilled mix was a very good blend. One of the best cocktails I've ever had but not very strong. I had maybe 3 of them and another cocktail (La Dama) but still felt like I was only 1-2 drinks in. Overall the whole experience was amazing. I got the coquito and my partner got the espresso martini. I really loved the coquito, it was a classic taste and I also appreciated that they still had coquito being that it's almost February. My partner said the espresso martini is good but just too sweet being that they add 3 different flavored syrups. After that we got the cosmopolitan and the mango painkiller! A chill neighborhood place earlier in the night. I have heard it can get pretty crazy and crowded on the weekends late into the night though Parking: There's street parking and a whole lot across the street. We had no problems but I imagine parking can get limited if the place is significantly busy. Drinks: I expected mostly just beers but they have quite a list of more indepth, fancier mixed drinks which was exciting! They also have frozen margaritas and wine as well. So there's quite a variety! Sadly they only had pineapple cider which was a disappointment to me personally. Seating: There's minimal seating inside but outside has quite a few picnic tables. For the size there seems to be plenty of seating plus the outside patio is dog friendly woo! Price: Margaritas were about $12 which was on the higher side based on the size of the glass. Topo chick's were priced quite a bit higher than other places as well. We definitely felt that the bill at the end of the night was quite a bit higher than other places but didn't feel like it wasn't worth it. Food: We went on Friday night and there was an awesome food truck there ! I'd definitely like to note some of the interior design/decor. It was pretty and someone definitely put thought into it. Jammed in between a tire shop and another building near N Main st is this if you blink you'll miss it gem. During crawfish season these champs can shell out 800-1000lbs worth of crawfish all for the free. FREE IS ME! Now hang on before you ask what's the catch, beer and crawfish go hand and hand so for sure purchase a couple of beers and 1 shot and you're guaranteed to get ask much crawfish in you until they're cleaned out. The sizes the had were average, their flavorful for the soak they used is like nothing I've had before and it's great that it tastes great inside and out the shell, good size, and welcoming atmosphere. What this rabbit hole I just stepped into?? An ambiguous building on the outside in an area I don't really frequent that often and yet so eclectic on the inside. When we first drove by and our GPS said 'you've arrived' it took me a minute to figure it out. But then we saw the rabbit door so we parked across the street and opted to go inside. What an interesting place this little gem is. Quite the mix of people and ages where scattered throughout the bar. There was lots of art to catch the eye as well. Plenty of seats at the bar or smaller tables by the window. Looked like a good amount of seating on the patio, but no one was out there when we went. Seems like they have food trucks at certain times as well (I'm going to figure that out for the next time we go). This little place has a mighty good drink menu. Our mixologist was really nice and even hooked us up with some tasty shots he whipped up. We had several rounds here and now I have my new cocktail spot before shows at White Oak! Bonus!! Overall space is clean and tight. Didnt use the bathroom so I cant speak on that. The parking is small but it was available both times so I had no issues there. Now visit 1- service was amazing!! Absolutely no complaints. I sat at the bar and was served in a timely fashion no matter how many patrons arrived. It got pretty crowded towards the evening and I still have no complaints. Visit 2 started off so amazing. The first server was on it! When the next server arrived, things went down hill. I sat at the bar for this experience as well. Have you ever been ignored at the bar? 10 inches from the bartender??? When I say he would not acknowledge any woman, I am not exaggerating. I had to befriend a male to get any service!! All my drinks made after that were made by that same rude bartender which didn't taste as good as the first so I left. They also charge a TABC fee and 20% tip automatically. This is supposed to be a low dive bar where I went to meet up with some friends on a Wednesday night. When my friend and I went in in our work scrubs, the door guy insisted that we must be frisked. I've been to multiple bars in Near Northside, and this is the first time I've experienced this. Like that one Friends episode, he checked the balls twice, once in the front once in the back. My buddy only got his balls checked once but I'm much cuter. What was weirder was that he didn't check my buddy's backpack. Once inside, there was a house dj was mixing and the music was loud. The crowd was young, mostly Hispanic but I didn't see anyone that looked like they should be frisked. When I asked my friends inside whether they had been frisked. No, of course not. I can't recommend a place with that kind of cover. The service was nice. When I bought two beers the bill came out to 21 dollars since there was a service charge and also a charge for the house music. Maybe their customers are bad tippers too? read more

A very low key bar located in a quiet neighborhood. Don't be fooled by the looks of the exterior, the interior is very nice and chic. My friend suggested their espresso martini and it was good! We came here as one of my first in person stops after returning from living in Japan and was not disappointed. Decor/Location/Parking The location is unassuming and definitely not where one would expect. I love that aspect of it. There is parking across the street and a couple of spots available immediately out front if visiting after the shop next door closes for the day. The decor inside is cool and definitely speaks to the unique nature of the spot. Food/Drinks When we visited they were not serving food after their initial reopen, but I'll update this when possible. The drink menu is simple with a few solid options. The Near Northside Paloma was fantastic! Service When we visited it was only us and another group in the bar, but drinks were quick and no shortage of attention to ensure we were good with drinks. Pricing The drinks are what anyone would expect for a bar in the Houston region. Overall Fantastic and unpretentious bar that is definitely a hidden gem. I will certainly make more visits! read more

You enter a well decorated, high-end cocktail bar. I tried an oaxaca old fashion as well as the pineapple daiquiri. Both of them were on point. After having a few drinks, we started to get hungry. I have been hunting for a place with a decent selection of bourbon and gin, whilst at the same time providing a halfway decent offering of beers on tap. Look no further. You guys are after my heart. This is a low key ducked off spot i truly love. The drinks are on point and amazing. I went on Sunday and they had a special of $5 margaritas all day. Shady barrio bar pretending its located in midtown. I've lived down the street from this bars location for 15+ years and was happy something cool like this popped up in the barrio, however, thats not the case anymore. I went for Halloween and a cocktail was listed as $15 on the seasonal paper menu, handed the bartender a $20 and he came back and told me it was $21 because gratuity and tax were already included. That makes no sense. 20% of $15 is $3 and 8.25% of $18 is ~1.48 so that's $19.48 which even if I wanted to give him a $3 tip why am I paying tax on it. The cocktail sucked, it had a bunch of ice in it and it was basically premixed so the bartender did no real service to make the drink. I handed him that extra $1 but guess what, I won't ever spend my money here again. This place has changed drastically since it started and is now trying to take advantage of people with these sneaky hidden fees. These fees don't even get printed on the receipt of card transactions and they'll still ask you to tip. read more

It was a lot of fun at Rabbit's Got the Gun! I was digging the decor, music, ambience, and service, and of course cocktails. We went on a Wednesday night for a birthday. We were able to socially distance, staff wore face coverings, and there was plenty of hand sanitizer at the bar and entrance area as well. I will definitely come back and check out their food menu, patio area, and restrooms! Glad we're the type to check things out for their names; glad the bartender at our hotel suggested we try Rabbit's Got the Gun. From outside it might look like a hipster's dive but fear not, the actual bar inside is sleek with a touch of elegance. Tending to us promptly was a bartender who was easy to talk to so I told him I wanted to try something new, a beer, I'm in the mood for IPA, local, and he lead me in the direction of a delicious Yellow Rose Smash IPA from Lone Pint Brewery in Texas. Came in a can, poured in a glass, with fruity and floral color tones and especially scent, thinly cloudy, a pretty dancing and creamy head that finishes with you, my kind of bite with its small to medium bitterness, and an easy yet full body that fades out nicely. Juicy, toasty, tasty! Bursting with balance aka contentment, Yellow Rose was easily my most prized beverage of Texas 2022. read more
