If you've never visited Hideaway, you've been hidin" away way too long! This local bar near the Galleria area is not your typical bar. Not your typical bar food! They have steak night 2 nights a week o. Tuesday's and Saturday's, their steak comes with options, I definitely would opt for the "Cowboy Butter" absolutely delish! I take my steak medium rare and the amazing sounds of Rick Lee and the Night Owls playing awesome blues music! Hayden, Spencer and Hunter are the utmost accommodating and kind bartenders I've ever met at a bar! They make you feel very welcomed! Love the Dollar Decor! Come on and come "Shake yo money Maker!"

I decided to try this place because a friend recommended it, she said it was really good. Being my last night in TX I gave it a try with her, the rib eye did not disappoint! Service was fast a friendly and there is a patio if you want to eat outside. It's a place for regulars since everyone knew each other by name! Definitely a nice spot to visit and eat.,

I noticed some less than good reviews here , but I had an incredibly good meal that I enjoyed greatly. I had their barbecue and the brisket was very nice and tender and these smoke sausage were also excellent. I really enjoyed the cowboy beans. You gotta get a bowl of those cowboy beans which come as aside with the barbecue plate. Call, sir.The spicy potato salad was really tasty. And I thought that was one of the highlights of the barbecue plate that I got. Plenty of food I couldn't even finish the two meat plate. Highly recommend.

My husband and I dropped in the hideaway for their steak special and crawfish. We have been going to the hideaway for years..back when the 16oz special was $14 now it's at 22. 22 used to be the to go price. We always loved the steak so we wanted to try out the crawfish. My husband loved the size of the crawfish! He ordered 10 lbs! It comes with corn and potatoes. I got the steak special it was tasty on one side but the other was over cooked. The Hideaway is a sports bar with an old skool country flare. It has $dollar bills stapled to the walls and a stage for the weekly live bands. I had a few beverages..the waiters said they were half off BUT when I went to order another I was told they were just a dollar off and not half off...which wasn't bad 7$ but still half off and a dollar off are big difference. We ordered our to go meals and we're ready for the bill and we're surprised to be charged 18% gratuity on 2 people. We were told it stated the automatic gratuity on the menu but after double checking I saw it nowhere on the online menu. We have been coming here for years and have always tipped good and have never been charged automatic gratuity....on our bill $22 tip is what we would have given but we're given an 18% gratuity on a tab in an almost empty bar with an "easy table". The waiter was friendly but did let us know that they charge their non regulars automatic gratuity :? We will not be back...

I've been very demure as of late; however, given the long wait in a dirt filed chair for an abundance of salt tossed on a fatty steak was absurd. I love the gritty ambience. The bar atmosphere was complimented by signed dollars stapled on every inch of the walls. The 1st problem was the unclean chairs. I was sure if I should sit or stand and order food. After the server took 10-15 minutes to greet us for our drink and food order, I already knew there would be a long wait. We ordered steaks on steak night. Not many people were there. Perhaps 15-20 people / 8 tables (1-3 guests per table). It took 1 hour exactly! Please refrain from ordering the onions / mushroom toppings. The amount of salt can season a gallon of pasta. The seal had ample fat that needed to be trimmed. For $20, it's a good meal but of course not for the wait or mediocre service. If you do try this place, go directly to the bar. The server has too much to do. Perhaps there you won't have a funky seat or a super long wait. Ciao

    Brisket Nachos soooooo good!

The food items we ordered were soooo good! Surprisingly good for a bar. We had brisket nachos, bacon grilled cheese and Mac & cheese balls. All were delish! Drinks were a bit underwhelming. We got gummy bear shots turned into drinks and they were just a bit too sweet. Maybe that was our mistake. Service was great!!! Will return!

Folks have had mixed feelings about this place, but I've always have had a great experience here and once U know the staff, it becomes even more chill. Joel, Richard, Connor, Vanessa, Chrissy etc. It has been a few months since my last visit and and update review was due. Steak nights Tuesday. $14 with a potato and small side salad. A 16oz ribeye, grilled and seasoned so well. I also ordered some grilled veggies which were delicious and Joel said he grilled it himself. Normally the band also plays on Tuesday and open mic night. Covid restrictions in place. Mask required upon entry. Workers all masked up. This would another great spot to watch a ball game. Kudos to all the workers for doing a fantastic job during this timeframe.

Great $14 steak night special (15 oz ribeye, baked potato, salad) and live music on Tuesday and Saturday nights. Located off of Richmond and Dunvale, this establishment has a divey sports-bar feel. They serve good food (burgers, appetizers, chicken) that are beyond the bar food fare. The beers and cocktails are reasonably priced as well. The bartenders are nice and friendly. The only issue I have is their parking lot. It's big with lots of parking spaces, however the gravel is rough. Overall a great low-key place to hang out any night of the week.

Fried pork chop, onion rings, and loaded mashed potatoes

I've been here a few times over the last few years usually for Rodeo related events. This most recent time I had fried pork chop which was delicious. It was the special and therefore extremely affordable. On top of it I had good service from the bartender who came over to take our order and kept our drinks full.

    Lots of open seating!

Ask the Community - The Hideaway On Dunvale

Do they have a dart board?

Not sure about the dart board but they do have a Golden Tee.

    Are they dog friendly?

I'm not absolutely sure about this but they should be. I can't see why not. If your in doubt call ahead and ask. Doesn't hurt.

Are they still doing $14 steak nights during COVID?

    Totally are. Tuesdays and Saturday's.

Is Steak Nite in Saturday served all day (open-until kitchen closes)?

Steak night is from open to close on Tuesday's and Saturday's. Brisket and ribs on Thursday's

    When will crawfish be available?

It's available now, weekends only. They served 2.5 pounds for $15 and 5 pounds for $30 over the weekend.

What time should I come on Saturday to not have to wait for a table? Do I need a reservation? ***It been answered. Thank you***

I would recommend around 6:30 or around 11:30. It's a big gap but those are their busiest times in between. The kitchen doesn't close till 12;30 for steak night.

Tiny bathrooms- can't get in and out without touching something. Our waitress was a few weeks in and tried her best. The fountain drinks were absolutely disgusting and needed to be recalibrated. The Bakers Special pizza was a greasy and sloppy mess and instantly fell apart just by looking at it. It had mondo chunks of meat that didn't pair well with the sauce. My husband recommended this place from his visit a few years ago but it clearly went downhill. It's an old dilapidated mess. Cushion chairs were 20+ years old with sticky stains and butt intentions on them. It was giving biker bar and made me very uncomfortable. I was afraid I'd get sick just being in the environment. The patrons were old, obnoxious perverts. Someone even brought their dog in there (not a service dog). I couldn't overlook it's condition and the food wasn't any better. There are definitely way better options on Westheimer. EEEEYUCK!

I told him I had just spoken to someone yesterday, and he "you have wrong information, there's no way we can do reservations with this many people - you probably called the corporate office (it's the number listed on their website so that made no sense)" and was very dismissive of me and not apologetic whatsoever. It's totally understandable that reservations wouldn't be possible on a World Cup day. Seems like the staff are not all on the same page, or I was misled to just get my group into the bar (which has happened at other bars during the tournament so it's not unheard of). Had to take my three nieces elsewhere at the last minute and don't imagine I'll be returning after that experience.
