My husband and I filed jointly and have very simple and minimal paperwork. We have always filed online at H&R Block and have paid $50. This year we decided to go in person, only because we had a baby. The lady clearly stated we would be charged $45 for the service. Remember, she has no mask; therefore, I can clearly and easily see her mouth and read her lips, in addition to hearing her to perfection, no matter the little glass between her and us. I got a charge on my bank account for $485. Why in the world would I pay almost $500 for someone to input numbers in a computer?!?! We went to speak to Stephanie, she initially could not remember us but then was telling us she said $485. She tried to blame us on misunderstanding her because of the mask and the glass. SHE HAS NO MASK! And I was able to understand her clearly. My husband complained with the area supervisor and they did nothing because we signed the paperwork but we did not receive a receipt after payment. All my husband was offered was a voucher for next year. Why in the world would we go back to Jackson Hewitt?!?! Also, they said they don't have set fees for their services. Everyone charges differently; no consistency. To top it off, the supervisor pretty much called my husband a liar by telling him that there is no way we have only paid $50 previously. They did nothing for us; completely blindsided us. Never again! Do not waste your time or money with these people!

This office filed my business returns late. Not once, but twice…read more The first time around, they acted like they were doing me a favor by fixing the issue that they created. This time, I was told that they don't have access to any data showing when customers come in, pay or when Block Advisors file the returns. I find this pretty hard to believe since they are an accounting business, but, ok, I have all of the documentation. After it's very, very obvious that they made a mistake (no big deal, people make mistakes) they then 'file a claim' with corporate headquarters to see if I can be 'refunded' what the IRS is charging me. They then go about their merry way not seeing that this is a problem. Having me file a 'claim' that I might or might not get and takes 1 - 3 months to process, for their obvious screw-up is not only silly, but disingenuous. Floating them money for their mistake and maybe getting that money back at a much later date is turning out to be a policy that not only looks bad on paper, but is in fact bad. Multiple follow ups have proven fruitless and are littered with unreturned calls, broken promises, no one knowing who I can escalate to (yeah, right) and good old-fashioned rude customer service. Getting in touch with corporate customer service is also turning out to be a more arduous quest than finding the Holy Grail. I have used this location for my personal and business taxes for about a decade. I have paid their over-market price thinking I was gaining some safety nets. I was incorrect. Please, save yourself headaches, pay less and use a qualified local accounting firm or accountant.
