Laumeier is a beautiful neighborhood park featuring a wide variety of art installations which are sure to amaze and entertain, some great shaded walking paths with play area for the children. The park also hosts the annual art fair and other pop up events. My favorite thing about this park is that it is not super crowded. While the weekends might boost the number of visitors, the park is usually still fairly peaceful. We've met photographers here before as the sculptures and sceneries do introduce lovely backgrounds for photoshoots. We've also just spent some time strolling with our pup on beautiful days. There is an education center to learn about the park. Aside from beautiful nature scenes and flowers, there is a large eyeball which is quite an entertaining conversational piece, a very tall human piece, a leafy looking piece made of wood, a large moose (I think?) and so much more! I visited here once before during COVID, when I was looking for outdoor, socially distant activies to enjoy. This last visit, I came for their after dark night market (already forgot the name of the event). It was awesome!!! I loved walking in the woods and coming upon the art. My favorite, aside from the pics, was an installation in the dirt mounds with a projected screen and live music. Not quite a rave, but fancy. I didnt shop at the night market or catch any of the musical acts on the main stage, but next year, I'll plan better now that I know what to expect. I will say, parking was kind of a nightmare, but once through, it wasn't so bad. Mostly the pedestrians made me nervous. Bring cash to move faster if you don't pre-purchase a ticket (for the event; the park is free the rest of the year). read more

We made it to Laumeier After Dark last weekend and it was one of the best events I've been to in St. Louis in awhile! We got to the park around 5 and while traffic was a mess, we took an Uber and he was able to get us right up to the gate pretty quickly (sounds like they ran out of parking for those who drove in). We spent most of the night exploring the art installations along the trails, as well as hanging out at the Hidden Gem pop-up bar- which was a blast. So many different random fun things to do- at one point we got called over by a magician and got our own private show. It was a busy night at the park, but the space is so huge it never felt too overwhelming. We ended up staying until the event was over, we were having so much fun seeing all they had to offer! read more

Lots of art for people who aren't necessarily into art to enjoy. It's basically a huge outdoor sculpture museum. I don't know the park well enough to know what is where. I visited back in November for Laumeier after Dark, which is a night festival with various stages and food truck and craft market areas. Parking that night was a little insane and I think I'd go very late into the event or much, much earlier than I did. read more

When my husband and I came to St. Louis a couple of months ago, we wanted to find something artsy to do outside, and we came across this sculpture park. Sadly, we went on the HOTTEST day, so it honestly wasn't the smartest day to go, but we truly enjoyed it for what it was and sadly, we probably only saw half of the sculptures that were there. We also didn't realize at the time that the building had an indoor exhibit, so we didn't see that, but it didn't look open when we went, anyway. Around the park, there are plenty of large sculptures spread out that are worth seeing. My favorite was the large blue eyeball that looked realistic with all of the veins and everything. There is also a large tire and a realistic deer, too. We also noticed that the park was well-kept with mowed grass and clean trails. I highly recommend coming here if you have never seen it. I would visit again to see everything we missed, hopefully on a cooler day! read more

No entrance fee and free parking! Great place to walk and enjoy an outdoor gallery. There is a giant blue eyeball sculpture, similar to The Eye in Dallas, TX. It's sort of a hidden gem per our local friend. You get a nice hike through the woods that are shaded and also get to enjoy interesting artwork throughout. Once you're done with the wooded area, there's also the grassy area with more sculptures and artwork. The grass looked like it would be perfect for a picnic. And wait. There's more! There's also an indoor exhibit. We didn't get to check this out, but I was told it's a nice place to chill and perhaps escape the weather. Parking was aplenty. Beautiful public sculpture park! Paved trails take you around the whole area. Some sculptures you need to walk on grass to get to. There are two locations of bathrooms on the trail. Not a ton of shade, but fun to visit especially with family. They have a few pavilions for rent as well that are worth the price! read more

This is an absolutely beautiful stroll in the park! My boyfriend and I wanted a place to spend the afternoon but not for long, so if you're looking to spend about an hour and a half outside to walk around the whole park and look, interact, and appreciate art in all shapes and sizes and forms then this is the perfect place for you. I won't post all the pictures of the sculptures to keep the magic in the place, but it is such a great adventure. I loved spending time with the interactive pieces and enjoying the art experience that normally I wouldn't ever choose to do. You've gotta see the Laumeier Sculpture Park if you're in St. Louis. I'm not sure there is anything else like in in the US - it's just that memorable. I last visited the sculpture park when I was around 8 years old in the early 1990s. I'm not sure how many sculptures have been added since that time - the red oil tanks I definitely remember. A great way to get your steps and some exercise in for the day. Walk the entire park and take in the amazing sculptures. We visited early on a Friday morning. It was already disgustingly hot, so we only stayed an hour. So many unique things to see. The grounds are well-maintained. You'll find picnic tables and restrooms throughout. A great place to take photos. There's a visitor's center, but it didn't appear to be open when we visited. Kind of a bummer considering the heat. Highly recommend. read more

Came to the 36th annual Laumeier Art Fair at the sculpture park. It's every Mother's Day weekend and is a "Don't Miss" event! This is our first time and it was a pleasure. Excellent artists, with many from nearby artists, were displaying and selling their goods. The weekend features many live musicians with several performing their own music rather than cover bands (yay to local music artists!). Be sure and come hungry and thirsty. Lots of local beer and food vendors. This year, there was HiPointe, Chicken Out, Steve's Dogs, Sugar Fire, Grace Meats, pretzel boys, local coffee roaster, local shaved ice, local lemonade vendor, local popsicles, etc. I am sure you get the idea. Also, don't forget your $$$ to buy your mother a nice piece of art! read more

This park is a good park to go to once in a while. There are some new sculptures that changes from time to time and some sculptures that has remained here years such as the eyeball. Plenty of parking. There are several parking lots. A good place to walk. There is also a hiking path that I will definitely try to go on my next visit. This is probably one of the best-kept secrets about St. Louis. In my opinion, it ranks among the best sculpture parks in the nation. We used to visit here when we lived in the area over 20 years ago. Though displays at parks like this can't change very much in a short period of time, the setting is beautiful and you feel like you're far removed from the urban jungle, when in fact it's less than 20 minutes away from Forest Park. The sculptures are distributed over a large area, with rolling hills and short wooded paths that reveal new discoveries around every corner. The guide map is extremely helpful, with small pictures of the different installations so you can quickly orient yourself - it is easy to get a little lost if you're wandering randomly through the grounds, as we like to do. The staff here is very friendly and eager to answer your questions. I should also mention that admission is free, just like many of the other museums in the St. Louis area. The residents of this area are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful cultural attraction here. read more

We enjoyed this place. Sizable area with three different parking areas. To see the whole thing (about 70 sculptures) would take a couple of miles and a walk through the woods. Having said that, we took in about 50 of them in just under 2 hours - doing the main section just past the visitor center and continuing off to the SW. There's another section east of the visitor center and going through the woods. Well spread out; so if there are a lot of people, not a big deal. Make sure you get a map. Most of the art is abstract and you'll want to read the info on each sculpture. read more

Such a unique experience! The park is home to over 60 large outdoor sculptures, many made with recycled or found items. The sculptures are placed along a large paved loop, and also along 3 short hiking trails. Numerous picnic tables are available and benches are plentiful throughout the park. The main loop and restroom access is paved and wheelchair accessible, as is a large picnic pavilion. Many of the sculpture placards include braille along side the printed verbiage. Leashed dogs are permitted and doggy stations provide plastic bags for disposal of waste. The venue holds art classes, art camp, educational programs and more for the local community. Walking at a comfortable pace, reading placards, and stopping for short rest breaks (yeah, old bones here!) we were able to see the sculptures in approximately 2.5 hours. The park is open from 8 AM to 30 minutes after sunset. Parking is plentiful in multiple lots located at several entrances to the park. There is no entry fee! I am so glad that we decided to include this park on our itinerary for our short St. Louis vacation! read more

I volunteered here for roughly six weeks during the summer, mainly helping out with the park's annual art camp program for kids. As a longtime fan of Laumeier, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The instructors are attentive and go beyond the traditional "camp counselor" template since many of them work in teaching or art during the year. Instructors also receive training on behaviors, conflict mediation, language and lesson planning. Younger age groups are stationed in outdoor shelters, while the more specialized "Art Squad" for ages 10-15 spends more time indoors. Camp at Laumeier would be a great option for kids and teens who have a passion for art and nature. The park itself is wonderful! Expansive and well-maintained green spaces that are an oasis of calm in car-centric Sunset Hills. Some of the sculptures are more modernist and angular, while many others (like Dre Wapenaar's Treetent and Niki de Saint Phalle's Ricardo Cat) invite imaginative play through their quirk and charm. A few sculptures lie beyond the reach of the paved, accessible trail that wends its way through the park, however. Pavilions, picnic benches, and other lunch spots abound, as do wooded hiking trails. There are also multiple public bathrooms. Laumeier also has a Finally Friday program during the summer with weekly food trucks and booths. This park is one of St. Louis's hidden gems and is a fantastic destination for hiking, picnicking, and learning about art history. read more

Even though this sculpture park is all located outdoors this was a great experience. What an amazing way to have your art displayed in mini shapes sizes and forms. Do uniqueness that was displayed here was just jaw dropping. Pieces that I could not even imagine making my self Even the simplest form of art was a great way of expression. The acreage of this location is definitely a great way to get your daily steps in for the day. There is also a building that displays more information about the location and some of the art pieces as well I think there was a small admission fee but I did not that particular section of the park. The location also has quite a few benches that you can sit and enjoy the view as you take a break. Definitely a breathtaking area to maybe have a picnic if the location allows it. Super fun free attraction when visiting St. Louis! The sculptures are diverse and each is accompanied by an explanatory sign. Beautiful property to walk around with a nice path. Bathrooms were well kept and nicer than I expected. The indoor visitor center was closed when we visited and they were out of brochure maps, which was disappointing, but there is a map online you can reference as well. Lots of fun photo ops. I'd recommend this park for travelers of all ages! I would caution you to beware of dogs when here... seems to be a popular area to walk dogs (for obvious reasons), but some of the larger more aggressive ones were alarming. Free sculpture park? Yes please! This place is actually extremely fun to walk around, I'm a little surprised. Came on a weekend morning/lunch and although there wasn't that much people in the morning, it was definitely getting more crowded during lunch time. Currently, the indoor exhibits aren't open because of COVID but there's plenty to see outside. Favorite Things: - Eye - What's not to like about the giant eye with a lot of veins? - Mark Mennin - May or may not be the most comfortable chair I have sat in, in a public setting. It looks extremely unassuming but the concept is very cool. - Abstract Variation No. 5 - Very walkable exhibit and every point of view is extremely different and unique. Interesting way of thinking about art. - Colorful Bleachers - Not sure if this is a work of art but it is so cute and fun, definitely a nice photo opportunity area. - Lie down in the grass/have a picnic. The grass is really soft and with the sun shining, it makes a perfect place for a relaxing, lazy afternoon. Definitely recommend coming here if ever in the area. read more

I came here last week with my dog to explore a new park in the STL area. When I came here, the weather was cool and gloomy, which was decent for going for a long walk. Since I came the day after a rainy day, I stayed on paved pathways to avoid muddy trails. I enjoyed my walk in the park with small, medium, and large sculptures to admire and read the story behind them. I had a great time here with all the different sculptures to see. I went to Laumeier Sculpture Park today for what I consider one of the best art fairs in St. Louis. It's something I look forward to every year. There are lots of parking options when you get there that are just a short walk up the street to the entrance. The park grounds are expansive so even during large scale events it isn't crowded. This weekend they hosted both local artists and those who traveled in from out of state. I was able to get a couple of art pieces that I will really enjoy. The kids area was large and gave children lots of options to explore different art mediums. The food and drink offerings were all local as well. Can't wait for my next visit! read more

Interesting and sort of weird park. Well, the sculptures are certainly unique. Check out the huge eyeball sculpture right in the middle of the park! Best thing this place is absolutely free. It depends solely on memberships and donations, and it's maintained by volunteers. The park host several events, classes, and workshops. This is one of the lesser known attractions of the greater St. Louis area but well worth the time to tour. It contains over 60 truly unique sculptures that don't totally 'trip your trigger' initially until you read the background information for each work. The the amazement and appreciation sinks in. The park is spacious and incredibly well maintained with 3 hiking trails to additional exhibits. It is open 8Am until sunset daily. The park also has activities that include educational art programs, musicals, and parents night out functions. It is pet friendly with handicap accessibility for all the areas of the park. We were there for nearly 3 hours. It was a short 17 mile trip from the Tower Grove district of St. Louis. read more
