This place goes on forever !!! Blew every single botanical garden I've been to so far in the U.S. Highly recommend this experience. The Dome is really special . Many plants I had never seen before , it was wild . We didn't even see everything it was so big. Museum , cafes , absolutely beautiful . My favorite were the Japanese gardens - so peaceful . The garden is a destination for tourists and can also be a regular spot to enjoy nature and learn for residents. While the single day passes have increased in the 12+ years I've been visiting, it's proven that my longstanding festival membership pays for itself every year. Supporting the botanical garden with the membership not only allows me unlimited access to the garden grounds during operating hours, but also more options for events. Think the garden is only good when flowers are in bloom? No way! Come down for classes, exhibits, walks, and there's so many more to see than the roses and the tulips. Henry Shaw's house is open to the public with garden admission and the docents always have taught me something new when I go. The house is decorated beautifully for the winter holidays as well. Another visit, this time for the Patterns in Nature exhibit throughout the garden. I went in the evening which in my opinion is the best time to see these art forms. The reflections from the lights in the sculptures on the ground are beautiful. My favorite was in the English Garden which is already dark and the forms reflected beautiful patterns everywhere. I went when they opened at 6pm to get dinner at Sasafras and then walked to the Japanese Garden and other parts of the garden before they closed at dusk. There was live music and a drink stand. I love the gardens. Everything is so well maintained and well cared for. I never get tired of visiting. I especially love the giant koi fish. This was a beautiful garden, and we didn't even get a chance to finish it! We bought annual tickets online ($45 for two adults, 1 child). You also get access to the Butterfly House and Shaw's Preserve (two areas that we WILL be going to.) The parking lot can get full fast, but it is very accessible to the front. Walking through the front doors, you enter a very modern looking building with a beautiful skylight. The front desk is VERY nice. They have so many places to see but we came here to look at the cherry blossoms in the Japanese garden. That was a HUGE area, and there were koi by one of the bridges. We also stopped by the gift shop to peruse, and got a fun lizard toy for my toddler. The only issue was they were cleaning the fountains during the visit so we had to avoid that area. read more

One of those perfect STL weather days yesterday and we got to spend it at Mo Bot. Our first delightful surprise is that we got in free! I don't know how long this runs, but Saturdays before noon, with proof of residency you can get in free! The new exhibit was delightful, Patterns in Nature, we got some really good photos. We don't usually eat here, but we were definitely hungry after our hike and I'm pleased to report, the pricing at Sassafras is very reasonable! Large portions and refillable drinks. Such a pretty place!! I know we will be back soon, especially when the weather is as nice as it was today. These botanical gardens are so expansive, we were there for 3 hours and didn't see it all! STL residents get in free on Saturdays before noon, but even then, general admission is not very expensive. Be sure to pack your own snacks/water or buy some at the cafe because there are not many opportunities to buy food or drinks throughout the gardens! I've lived in STL for nearly two years and I can't believe I hadn't gone yet. I'm excited to try their different activities such as the summer concerts and holiday lights. read more

I was SO impressed by the Missouri Botanical Garden. My friend and I went in late March, so many outdoors flowers weren't in bloom yet, but that was just fine, because there's still so much to see and do! We loved seeing the indoor space and exploring the many gardens on the property. Grapes in the Garden! The event was moved inside due to the rain in the forecast. I was expecting it to be very crowded but they did a good job in spreading the food and drink vendors out to keep the guests from getting bunched up. Missouri Botanical Garden is my favorite place in St. Louis. This was an evening weeknight visit for their annual outdoor Garden Glow event. I was able to snag a parking spot in the main lot out front. Parking is free and there are several overflow lots available a short walking distance away also if it is crowded. I really enjoy the special events at the garden. Garden Glow is an outdoor immersive experience involving lights, music and (if desired) hot chocolate or cocktails for an additional charge. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey this year, but my friends all got boozy hot chocolates. The event is family-friendly and date-friendly or you can go with a group of friends like I did. We love visiting every year as part of our holiday tradition. read more

I've always been a fan of MoBot but this visit I found myself somewhat disappointed with the lack of maps/signage within the Garden. Yes it is fun to wander through everything but not everyone is up to walking endlessly. At least there are benches that my friend could sit on to rest. The children's area is really cute. Overall the Garden does have beautiful displays and serves as inspiration. The gift shop is large and has a good variety of items although a bit pricey. read more

We have been to many botanical gardens throughout the world and this is one of our top 5 . Super clean and easily laid out. Their is an admission fee but totally worth it. We walked the gardens but their is a tram available. The entrance is stunning and there is a small cafe and gift shop. We loved the Japanese gardens as well as the Dome Conservatory. I love this place. I have been multiple times in my 20+ years living in the St Louis area, but never thought to leave a yelp review until today. Some memorable events include feeding the koi with my kids, waiting in line 5 hours (all night!) to see a blooming corpse flower, Chiluly exhibit, and the most recent Hybocozo at night exhibit. They also have the best holiday lights event in all of St Louis, and I have seen all of them. I haven't been to all of the botanical gardens in the world but I imagine this has to be one of the best. A gem in the heart of St. Louis. There is always something at every season to see at the Missouri botanical Gardens. In particular if you go to one of their exhibits. Was there on Saturday to see the latest exhibit patterns in nature. We arrived before the sunset so we could see the sculptures before the sunset and then stayed till after the sunset and I personally feel like that is the best way to do it so you can see the sculptures in both settings. read more

We brought friends and family here just twice before we made the easy decision to become Family & Friends Members. Now we can bring up to four adults in at any time! We've been making good use of the membership as something fun to do any time folks are in town. With the gardens always changing, it's never boring to take a walk and see what is blooming. Regular late night programs are a particular hit in our household. The multiple Shakespeare nights, corpse flower blooms, book talks, and expert lectures keep us in things to do each month. I even encourage visits in bad weather when you can, at the very least, take advantage of the rainforest climatron, small museum on site, and the arid house. Went on a Saturday an hour before close still such a perfect time to go. I love spring time at the garden. A little busy due to it be a Saturday, lots of photographers out taking pictures of wedding groups. If you come an hour before close the tickets are discounted, so make sure you look when checking out. read more

A group of friends and I attended the Best of Missouri Market at the Botanical Gardens for the second time this year. It was a beautiful day for the event. Online information gave specific information on parking especially since there were parking restrictions in place on the Tower Grove side. We chose the lot across Vandeventer where there were plenty of spots at 8:45 on Sunday. We could have waited on a shuttle but opted to walk from there. The event is held in the left side of the parking lot and the line went around the front and side of the main entrance. Don't despair! As soon as they open the gates, the line moves super quick. There are vendor booths around the perimeter outside and then four or five rows of vendors under a large tent. We start outside while its cooler and then make our way into the tent. So many great Missouri artisans and products. The different Missouri wineries were there giving out samples. Frontier Soups, Series Six, Missouri Life, just to name a few. We had a great time and will make this every year outing. Tickets vary depending on your membership, without they are $18 read more

Formerly called Shaw's Garden (the current name is probably better)! I enjoy the Botanical Garden enough to have had a membership a few months ago. In the past few years, I have attended Spirits in the Garden, the Japanese Festival, Garden Glow, Best of Missouri Market, and probably other events. I don't go as often anymore. That's too bad. I'm sure it's better than ever. Just a bit busy... And I don't like doing the same things over and over. But I'm sure it's great. I took a friend a few months ago and it made for a pretty morning. Entrance is a few dollars. St. Louisans aren't accustomed to paying for gems of the city. We are accustomed to complaining about every little thing. I've never heard anyone complain about the Botanical Garden being too expensive, though now I realize I kinda sorta want to complain about it lightly, lol. $16 is a little much for adults. Now that the parking lot has been expanded, parking is easier, though on busy days some people will still need to park on the street. read more

I've been to quite a few botanical gardens and this absolutely one of my favorite. Thy redid the main building and its beautiful. They have a great gift shop and a nice cafe. As for the gardens themselves, they are a mix of old and new structures and gardens. And if you have kids they have a wonderful outdoor space where kids can play for hours and be entertained. It's a beautiful place to roam around and just look at everything! It's very clean and there are plenty of benches throughout in case you need/want to rest. Incredible orchid exhibit! Truly inspiring. It's so inspirational that you can get your very own orchid plant in the gift shop! I also got to see the blooming Voodoo Lily in the Climatron. Believe it or not, there is a lot of beautiful things to see in the winter time. I got to take the time to explore areas of the grounds I've never seen before such as the Shoenberg Arid House. And the Stump Garden is really cool! A visit to MoBot is always a great day. read more

I love coming to the botanical garden, especially when the corpse flowers are blooming! MOBOT has had so many corpse flowers bloom, they must know how to treat them right!! If you follow the garden on Facebook or Instagram, they will post lots of updates about the corpse flower and when it will bloom! I've seen three bloom and it's always amazing! The flower usually blooms at night and the garden will let you in for free that night to see it. The line is usually very long but in order to smell the corpse flower you need to see it the night it blooms. I've gone to see two after the bloom while it's still open which is also super cool! You usually still have to wait in line to see it but also get to go enjoy the rest of the park! I also stopped at the cafe at the beginning of the garden and got a refreshing lemonade to sip while I enjoyed the park. Well with the price! As per the pictures I displayed, I went there for the orchid show and sale. The orchids the garden grows are just magnificent. In addition to the show and all the many varieties of orchids, they had growers from all over selling their orchids. These are top notch orchids. It was a great afternoon. My only negative thing to say is there were not many people around to answer and questions you may have on growing. They had the St. Louis orchid society there which helped some of that. The orchids supplier from Kansas City was really rude when I tried to ask questions . However, it was so busy and orchids were literally flying off the shelves that I sort of get it, but he obviously was more interested in selling than teaching. That would be my only suggestion: if you are spending over $55/orchids, it would be nice to have someone help a beginner with suggestions on how to take care of it. read more

It's HUGE, easy (ish) to find parking, and you can spend literally hours here. Very affordable and fun way to spend the day. Be sure to check out their cafe, Sassafras. Such a great place to enjoy a Saturday noontime. There were quite a few activities that the kids like including the origami area where they try to make the lotus. The lily pond was great for picture taken as well as a flower wall area. There used to be a small indoor area next to the entrance where there were a lot of variety of flowers but it was empty at this visit. The climatron has quite a few tropical fruit trees. Parking spot was harder to find during this peak weekend day, however i did find a street parking spot. The children play area was ideal for little ones to play. read more

Absolutely worth the visit. The Chinese and Japanese gardens are incredibly peaceful and thoughtfully designed, full of beauty, and honestly just good for the soul. There's also a Center for Home Gardening section that totally surprised me. They've got an actual plant doctor there!!! Which was perfect because I had photos of my hydrangeas that I've been struggling with and they helped me out tremendously. Super kind and knowledgeable staff. They even gave me an email and phone number to follow up with more plant questions later, which is a lifesaver. Opened to the public in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Gardens is one of the oldest in U.S. and is considered 'Top Three' in some rankings of gardens around the world. It was created and maintained in the European tradition of education and still maintains one of the most complete collection of plant specimens. For a layman like me, it was neat not only to walk the grounds admiring the landscaping and plants, but also to acknowledge the historical architectural of this National Historic Landmark. We were trying to fit as much things to do in St Louis as we could in one day, so our visit was short towards the end of the day (they closed at 5). Our friends are members so we were able to tag along with them at entry, and spent most of our time walking the grounds. Brief rainstorms were always a threat, so tried to stay close to shelter. The grounds were extremely well maintained One thing to note about the gardens is how big it is, allowing a lot of open space, just like a public park. We visited the Japanese garden, at 14 acres one of the largest in the country, located at the NW corner, and admired the large pond named 'Seiwa-en' which translates to "garden of pure, clear harmony, and peace". I also liked visiting the vegetable garden, a more practical display for gardeners to admire. read more

The Missouri Botanical Garden is honestly one of the best places in STL. They hosted a new member night the other evening and it was so welcoming. Their new entry area is beautiful and I love they have so many education tools for visitors. MOBOT is also a huge supporter of global efforts to keep plant species alive and well understood.
