They only get 3 stars bc honestly--how excited can you really get over a laundromat? I *hate* doing laundry, but this is my favorite place to hate doing laundry. Why? #1 They are located right next to Doggin' It, so you can toss your laundry in the wash, go next door, drink a 40oz (bc that's how classy I am!), when you're done with the wash, pop your laundry in the dryer and drink another 40oz (bc I hate doing laundry so much, I need 80 ounces of beer to get through it!) #2 Free wifi. Bring your laptop, so while you're hating doing laundry, you can take your lap top next door to Doggin' It, drink beer, and update facebook letting everyone know that you are doing laundry and that you hate doing laundry #3 There's a massage chair. As a general rule I dont get in massage chairs that are avail to the general public, but after 80 ozs of beer anything is possible and I like having that option available to me. #4 The place is clean, and all the patrons seem nice. I am in no way disgusted by sharing a washer or dryer w these folks #5 Many folding tables are available. This is important. If you fold laundry. I hate doing laundry so I don't fold it, when I'm finally done, I toss my shiz in the basket and BOLT #6 Friendly staff. They are like, really nice. #7 Cable tv. No one complained when I put the Real Housewives on New Jersey on. If you have to be at a laundromat, this is hands down the best one to be at. read more

I've taken my laundry to the Laundry Factory a couple of times now. They are always prompt and do a good job at taking care with your clothes. The place is surprisingly clean and bright for a laundromat. As Zoe mentioned the prices are very reasonable and you won't find a cleaner place anywhere near Shadyside. Oh, laundromats. How you take me back to my days in college and grad school. Though I've been fortunate to have in-home laundry capabilities everywhere I've lived over the last several years, recently I found myself in need of professional (laundry) help when my dog puked all over our comforter and mattress pad (thanks again for that, little buddy). Our washer was too small to do the job, so off I went to the Laundry Factory. Like I said, it's been awhile since I've been to a laundromat, so I don't know what other laundromats are like these days, but wow, this one was wayyyy nicer than the ones I used to go to back in the day! It was modern, clean, bright, and had tons of well-kept machines. No dank corners where sketchy people loitered, no broken machines, no weird funky old sneaker smells. They had several sizes of machines to choose from, ranging from average (a regular household laundry machine) to mega-capacity. I chose the "large load" machine, which fit our comforter and mattress pad just fine. A load in the large capacity machine cost $6.00, which seemed a little steep, but not too bad. Other machines ranged in price from $2.75 to $10.00 (super mega capacity machine). They also have super capacity (50 lb.) dryers, which was very handy. It was $.50 for the first 5 minutes of drying time, and then $.25 for every 4 minutes after that. Again, seemed a little steep, but the dryers were very efficient -- I think it took only about 15 minutes (on low heat, no less) to dry my bulky items. They had well-stocked change machines and a nice little lounge to wait in. I didn't see any bathrooms, so good thing I refrained from going to the beer store next door to have a cold one while I waited. They do have a parking lot, but it's really small and packed, so you'll probably only get a spot if you're lucky. So plan to either park on the street or behind the building (I found plenty of space behind the building and wasn't ticketed or towed). Anyhow, next time I need to use a large capacity washing machine (which I hope is NEVER -- hint hint, my little doggie friend), I will not hesitate to come back here. read more

Wash-dry-fold. Pick-up and delivery. Dress shirts. Dry cleaning. These people do so much, and charge such a reasonable amount. They take credit cards, too, and they are easy to communicate with, if you have a change of plans or whatever. Can't say enough good things. I've been in the laundromat, too, though I haven't used it. It's nice and clean and pleasant, in that Pittsburgh's-take-on-hip kind of way. read more

I"m not sure how often I'll need laundromat access as I have machines, but I did need it on the day I visited. I noticed that everyone posted reviews about cheaper spots in town BUT they all looked dirty and had a lot of complaints about losing coins etc... Here's all I have to say: I washed & dried 2 loads in 45 minutes because of their huge machines. All the clothes came out great. Price was cheap because it was fast. Clean, friendly staff. Great area with parking. Some machines accept credit cards. I walked my dogs (twice) while I waited. The only improvement I could see would be to have a washroom - my back teeth were floating after my morning coffee and there is no washroom for customers. read more

I started coming to the Laundry Factory over a year ago. This place is wonderful. It's so nice to come to clean and comfortable place. I've done mine laundry there, and I've used their wash 'n fold service. Both are great! Employees are helpful and friendly. One of them saved me from spending a lot on dry cleaning when my comforter could safely be washed in a regular machine. Their dry cleaning service is also reasonably priced, and I've had no complaints. As long as I live in the east side of the city I will keep coming here! read more

I like this place. Its one of the closest dry cleaners to my place. I have taken numerous dress shirts, silk blouses, even stained ties. Their service for silk shirts and dress shirts is pretty good. They tend to have the clothes when they say they will and very often they will ask you would prefer to pick up. The customer service has been pretty good, although it seems that they got a new register and they have been having difficulties with it because it takes them forever to run my card. In terms of ties they are pretty good, but I have returned home with the original stain in a tie. I have brought it back and they have retreated the tie for no charge, although they were not able to remove the stain (insert sad face here). Anyway, overall this is a pretty good neighborhood dry cleaner, they treat your stuff with care an my husbands shirts come out clean and lightly startched as I have requested them. read more

I used to do my coin-op laundry here before moving to a new apartment, and while it was a bit more expensive than other places, the facility was kept clean and the equipment worked well, saving me time and money in the end. I was able to do 5 loads or more at a time, with different sizes washers available if I had to wash comforters. The dryers are super efficient, with my loads dried in under 30 minutes. Space to fold your clothing as well. I still get my dry cleaning done here. It's nice that they are open longer hours than most dry cleaners and on weekends, because of the coin op laundry. My work hours suck so I need a big window of time for drop off and pick up.It usually takes a few days for them to finish, and prices seem reasonable, about $5 a sweater, $7 for pants. I did have an item lost once, but they located it by the next day. I do wish they gave you an itemized receipt when you drop off clothing instead of just a stub with a number for times like that. Of note, my boyfriend brought in a white autographed pens jersey which was disgustingly stained with beer and who knows what from years of wearing. They were able to remove all the stains while protecting the signature which was really impressive, for about $20. They do the drycleaning off site, so the person taking your order will not be able to answer your questions always. He was told "we will try our best but no guarantees?" and had to wait to see what would happen, but luckily they did an amazing job. read more

Its time to show LA la laundry factory a little love with an update because they have recently expanded. Into the rest of the building where Brasserie 23? Or was it 22 used to be. Now they have expanded spaces larger machines freedom! To do your own dance routine while your stinky socks swish to the beat in a sea of suds. Ok ok I know I am getting excited over something everyone hates doing, but laundry factory makes it more enjoyable. Great diversity of people watching opportunities here. There is still no bathroom but one of the laundry mistresses told me they would be getting one soon. They have drinks up front tons of change machines and some sort of card that two of the larger machines and driers take. I am not sure if you need to purchase the card to use it but seems like a laundry card you put money on. If dirty quarters drive you nuts. Great idea. The price is still cheaper for me than anyone else if I use large capacity washers. The beer shop.... its still awesome and its still next door. Still have free wifi and tv. I have never tried their drop off or dry cleaning service so I cannot review that. Just the kickass atmosphere and that I've met some pretty cool people here customers and workers alike. read more

This laundromat absolutely blew my mind the first time I stepped into it. Yeah, I'm kind of lame but still! They keep the laundromat incredibly clean, notably their front loading washers. Front loaders tend to adopt a mildewy, moldy odor if the gasket is not cleaned properly. This isn't a huge problem at home but in a public laundromat it can really be a disaster. I can name a few places that have had this disgusting odor and did not appear to care. The Laundry Factory does not have this. They also have two mini lounges with full cable TV. It's a nice reprieve to be able to sit down in a comfy chair and watch some TV while your clothes are washing or drying. They don't just stop at cable, however. They also offer free wifi. They have HUGE front loader washers which is what I use. When our big bedspreads and blankets need a good washing, I take it to the Laundry Factory. Their big washers can even handle TWO queen bed spreads at a time and it still has enough elbow room to agitate the clothes to get them nice and clean. Their dryers also come in different sizes, their largest can handle about four loads of laundry and dry them fast. Honestly, I don't go to the laundromat often, but I'm glad this place exists for when I do. Not only are their facilities in awesome condition, but the amenities they offer while cleaning your clothes give them a huge edge over any other laundromat in Pittsburgh. read more

So this laundry mat is by far the cleanest I've been to since moving to PA. I enjoy coming here to do laundry and I feel safe. The downside to this place is there are no bathrooms. If you have children make sure to have them use the bathroom before hand or look up where the closest Starbucks or grocery store is because they will tell you no if you ask for your child to use their private bathroom. This place is not very family friendly. Also, I've only been here since the pandemic so idk what their pre-COVID rules were. On top of the bathroom issue, people leave their cloths in washer/ dryers for extended period after the cloths has completed the wash cycle. Probably due to the fact that they have to leave to use the bathroom lol. Overall, if the bathroom isn't an issue for you this place is really nice. read more

My experience at this laundromat definitely had room for improvement. Pros: -Plenty of machines -Clean facility -Parking -Free wifi Cons: -Staff rude (see explanation below) - No restrooms -Credit card swipers on laundry machines unreliable I interacted with staff to get help with a machine that wasn't working. While this staff member was helping me, a coworker came up, interrupted me, and pulled the staff member away. I waited for the staff member to return but she never did. I had to go up to the register again to be told I would just have to use a different machine. Not a big deal to move my laundry, but I the tone of the encounter was dismissive and rude. I needed to use a laundromat for about 5 weeks while we were renovating and the laundry factory was great. I could do laundry for a family of 5 in about 2 hours, including a walk down the street for a coffee. I wish I was that efficient at home. read more

I came here for the Wash and Fold service, where you can drop off your laundry and pick it up the next day - washed and folded for you. The convenience factor is greatly appreciated, but I will not be returning to use their services. Although, I believe that every staff member that I interacted with here are very polite and courteous people. It costs about $1.15/lb approximately, and you must have at least 10lbs of laundry, excluding comforters and blankets. They do not weigh your laundry in front of you, so you have to trust that they are weighing only your laundry, and that their measuring system for weighing your laundry is not faulty. That being said, I was charged $37 for about 33lbs of laundry, which isn't my gripe with this place - I really dislike doing laundry. My gripe is that when I came home to unpack all my clothes, they distinctively smelled like men's cologne. It's really disgusting. I suspect one of two things: either the washer/dryer the attendant was using was NOT clean, or a heavily cologned man decided to roll himself all over my laundry when it came out of the dryer... read more

I've been here a few times to do laundry this past year during Covid. The washing machines and dryers are fairly expensive for laundromats in Pittsburgh for pretty average machines. They took cleaning very seriously but kicked us out the moment we were done with laundry to wait outside for the timers to end. Their wash and fold services were great. Dropped off in the morning and picked up same day, and everything was folded perfectly and paired appropriately. People working there seemed kind and they follow COVID guidelines. Rates seem standard for wash and fold...not super familiar as I'd never used that service before. read more

Been here 4 times now...great efficient service, their dry cleaning doesn't bbq the fuck out of the buttons on my shirt, slightly more expensive than the cheapest dry cleaning ive ever had but can't complain. PROS: This is my go-to place when I need to do laundry. The prices are a little higher than the usual $1.50/$1.75 per load, but it's worth it in my opinion. I leave actually feeling like my clothes are completely clean and fresh. Cleanliness is important to me in a laundromat. The dryers offer you to use your card to pay. There is free WiFi, a tv, and a nice cubby to do some school work or study if you're a student. CONS: This place gets busy on Sundays and weekends, and it's somewhat small so it's hard to maneuver around. The prices are somewhat higher, but again I think it's worth it. My other issue seems to be the friendliness of the staff. The younger staff seems to be nicer and more helpful, however most of the staff are just plain rude. I ask for change from the cashier so I can get quarters and the woman acts like I'm asking the world of her. She is actively sighing and groaning when she gets off the phone with a customer. I've had nothing but unpleasant interactions with this woman, middle-aged, dark hair. Miserable woman. I greeted an employee another day,asked for the WiFi password, and he simply points to the wall and doesn't even make eye contact with me. That being said, I don't come here to interact or socialize with the staff. I come to get my laundry done. Though, friendliness is much appreciated and makes you feel welcome. read more

Am disappointed how many times I've seen them not enforcing the mask requirement--people come in with a mask but take them off inside. I have seen this three different times and I will not be coming back during COVID. When living in a hospital, options for laundry can be limited. The thought of a coin operated laundromat can send shivers down my spine. Laundry Factory was suggested to us by a nurse who lives close by and it has been a life saver! With convenient drop off and pick up service, I don't have to worry about leaving my wife alone in the hospital to sit and wait from some lumbering behemoth of a dryer to finally dry my clothes. I simply stop in, let them know my detergent and softener preferences and leave as they get to work on my things. The staff is friendly and helpful to new comers and explained the process(really simple actually) to alleviate any confusion. The facilities looked clean and the washers and dryers looked like new. I would highly recommend this establishment. If you're in the area looking to do your laundry, or better yet have someone do it for you, this is the place. I could not be happier with my results for what I think is a very reasonable price. read more

I just moved to Pittsburgh and have a couple of weeks before I can move into my apartment. After a 37 hour drive across the country my clothes, frankly, smelled. The Laundry Factory was clean, the staff made me feel comfortable, and the free wifi helped to pass the time. They also have a massage chair, which is better than any massage chair I've ever sat in. Well worth the $1 for 3 minutes to make laundry a little less of a chore. My new place has a washer and dryer, but I'll definitely recommend the Laundry Factory to my friends who don't. read more

It's very clean and well taken care of there's always open wash machine. Very bright and colorful. And a good crowd to hang out with. Plenty of space to fold your laundry. I only give it four stars because of the price for the machines to use. But I would expect that price for any major metropolitan laundry mat service. Huge plus there's plenty of parking outside. This laundromat is always clean. There is always someone cleaning something every time I'm here. Sometimes the credit card swipe doesn't work (has happened on 2 or 3 occasions inc), and you can only use a credit card on larger wash machines. There is no bathroom or place to wash your hands but you can always walk down the street to get some coffee while you're waiting. I've never had a problem with not having plenty of space to fold but I usually come on weekday mornings. read more

I've been coming to the Laundry Factory at least twice a month for the past year. The driers are a bit pricey, but if you go on a weekday you can get free drying. I appreciate that they have a few machines (washers and driers) that you can use credit for. I loved the fact that they had a 100lb wash machine, so I packed my children up and my husband and drove from Swissvale to use this laundromat. We have a washer and dryer at home however sometimes as a mom with three babies under two I just want to get it all done and fast. Upon arrival the 100lb machine had clothes in it, I asked one of the very nice employees if this was a load they were washing (they offer wash and fold services) it was not I waited 20 mins during the 20 mins I and asked other customers if the clothes were theirs and they weren't. I went to an employee to ask them if I could remove the clothes that had been sitting in the washer for over 20 mins, they had no idea. I would've given this place a 5 star if they simply put signs up letting ppl know after your loads are completed please promptly remove your clothes especially since they only have one 100lb washer. Also they have no public restroom which is very inconvenient when your washing and folding 100+lbs of laundry it just doesn't make sense. I had to spend extra money and go to Crazy Mocha to use their facilities. read more

This is a review for dry cleaning services only. I noticed after a recent order that one of my sweaters had a small hole in the shoulder. I didn't think too much of it (thinking that maybe I had caught it on something and just hadn't noticed before), but I picked up another order today and the first sweater I took out to wear has a large (~1/3 inch) hole in the back that's really noticeable and definitely was not there before I took it in for dry cleaning. Most laundromats I've been to have felt approximately like being on an old port authority bus at the end of its work day, and when I'm going to a place to clean things I kinda want that place to be clean. The Laundry Factory is VERY different, and very clean. It became my favorite from the first time I went there. It kinda feels like a decent coffee shop, only brighter and more colorful. the seats are comfy and plentiful, there's a TV, free wifi, power outlets, a counter to buy stuff at, cheap vending machines, a massage chair, and if it STILL doesn't feel quite enough like a place you don't mind hanging out at while your clothes spin around there's a Crazy Mocha about 125 ft away. I can't imagine anything else I would ask for in a laundromat. If I find one with time traveling washing machines that clean your clothes before you put them in that one will be my new favorite, but that seems unlikely. read more

I went to this place to have my comforter and sheets washed. I was quoted $28 for the service, but when I went to pick up my items I was charged $41.50 instead because I was charged $13.50 for my sheets. I wish they would have told me this up front. I definitely won't be going back here and will encourage my friend to go elsewhere! read more

The Laundry Factory is no longer the clean, friendly laundry facility in Shadyside that it used to be. Its spotless, new interior with its kind employees have been replaced by crass thugs and general filth. Its owner, Gary, enjoys parking in handicapped parking spaces. ((I will attach a picture of him in his car in the handicapped spot later.)) I was a longtime customer of the Laundry Factory until I bought a home 7 months ago. My dryer (Whirlpool Duet, the #1 rated on Consumer Reports!) went on the fritz this week and it's a full week till its repair date. So I went back to my old haunt, the Laundry Factory. My, how things've changed. In the past, I would update the firmware of the wireless router because the internet was constantly going out. The staff were friendly and always grateful and the place was kept super clean. This time, the staff were new, loud and mean. The floors were not swept and the clientele were themselves obnoxious. I made a simple request - fulfilled dozens of times in the past - for a simple plastic bag (like a grocery bag, for my delicate on the ride home) . So they (wet) wouldn't get the (dry) laundry wet again. As chance would have it, the owner Gary was around. He was mocking customers as I approached the desk, calling them stupid little rich kids who don't know which end is up. I asked him for a bag; he condescendingly mocked me, telling me they sold bags for 75 cents. I patiently explained that the money wasn't an issue; it's the fact those particular bags are porous and polyester. Plastic was what I needed. He wanted 75 cents for a throwaway grocery bag as well. I gently told him how often I'd fixed his router. He sneered, saying plugging and unplugging it was no big deal. I explained that I'd updated the firmware and saved him many Comcast visits. He was shocked into momentary silence. I asked if I should have billed him for the repairs. A typical neanderthal business owner, he didn't realize that his clients were kind, or even human. The damage was done. As icing on the cake, on my way out, I noticed Gary climb into his van. He'd been there for over an hour. In a handicapped parking space. read more

I don't normally come to this laundromat, but the machines in my apartment had been broken for a week and I was getting desparate. Although parking can be a bit of a pain, I was pleasantly surprised with this place. There are plenty of washers and dryers to choose from (from regular sized to freakin' 50 pound capacity) and they all seemed to be working great. It's air-conditioned and clean with vending machines and some old arcade games to spend some more of your quarters on. My sister and I did four loads of laundry and it cost us about 2.75 per load. Oh yeah, and they have a change machine that apparently takes 20, 10, 5 and 1 dollar bills. If I am ever in a pinch again, I will be coming here. read more

Great place to do once laundry. I really love how everything is here. Change machines, detergent (if you need it), dry cleaning, you can get your clothes washed for you if that is more your style, free wifi, etc... Also if you forget change/cash you can use your debit card on some of the machines or even the ATM machine. The owners are super nice as well. This place is awesome! read more
