The moment I was connected with Dr. Rose Nikravesh, however, all of my doubts disappeared. Dr. Rose is one of the most compassionate and profoundly competent doctors I have ever encountered. Her genuine care is evident in every interaction--she listens deeply, considers every detail, and thoughtfully explores the best interventions for each unique circumstance. She is approachable, non-judgmental, and fully engaged in a way that makes you feel seen, valued, and supported. Her commitment is so extraordinary that I truly cannot imagine working with any other doctor. The facility itself has also exceeded my expectations. While I've seen some negative reviews, my personal experience has been nothing but positive. The staff has been consistently kind, attentive, and supportive--mirroring the same standard of care that Dr. Rose provides. For me, Insight Choices has been more than just a medical provider--it has been a place of genuine healing. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Rose and the entire team for their compassion and unwavering support.

First, their providers started to lose their ability to prescribe ADHD medication. Then, the insurance dropped them in total, so now I no longer get insurance coverage for my appointments or medication. When I called to inquire about getting an appointment before the changeover date, they ignored me and were rude when I called a second time. Absolutely don't recommend. There are many other virtual appointment options out there.

I tried Jungian analysis--cool, interesting, even fun, but it didn't help. I tried Transcendental Meditation--I tried pretty much anything I thought might get me out of the hole I was in. Then one day, while walking my dog, I happened to pass the doors of CAST on Doheny and walked in. I was told it was a group therapy program based on CBT--Cognitive Behavioral Therapy--basically learning to recognize the thought and behavior patterns that keep you stuck, and how to change them. My mind immediately went to "The Bob Newhart Show" in the 1970s: sitting on low sofas in a glamorous office discussing our problems. As it turns out, that's not 'exactly' CAST. I spent about my first week there eye-rolling, resisting and generally being skeptical of the whole thing. I told myself, "One week and I'm outta here.") And then I gave in to the program, and it worked. Period. No, I'm not "cured." Mental health, at least for me, is an everyday practice, and I always keep an eye on myself. But after three months of intensive group and one-on-one therapy, I came out of the woods feeling much more like myself again (and more and more as time goes by). The therapists are extraordinary, as is their guidance. For me, especially Sarah, and also Samson. I'm enormously grateful to both of them. So, from a former eye-rolling cynic who is now something of a convert: if you're not doing okay, GO. Surrender a little. Let the program do its thing I'm very glad I did. Highly recommended.

Dr Mizani is a miracle. When my therapist insisted I change…read morepsychiatrists from my last one to Mizani, I was reluctant because I thought "all psychiatrists kinda suck, I might as well deal with the one I have because it doesn't get much better." I have dealt with quite a few psychiatrists in my time, including at treatment centers; and all but her have supported this idea I had that psychiatrists have no emotional intelligence, but just a purely clinical view of the human brain and don't view patients as people to listen to but subjects to examine and push drugs on, always thinking they know better and saying insensitive things to invalidate my real struggles. But not her. She LISTENS. God, I have never met a psychiatrist who listens and really LISTENS like her. She cares what you have to say and takes everything you say seriously and into account before all of her carefully thought out decisions. She makes me feel seen, respected, taken seriously, cared for, and listened to. That's a rare find. And she really knows what she's talking about; her knowledge of psych and medication is very impressive beyond expectations. As soon as I started seeing her, she was able to immediately help what was wrong with my meds and change things around to the right mix. She always lays out multiple options (some containing adding meds, but always presenting alternatives and respecting any apprehension to meds), and takes the time to listen and weigh things out to whatever you feel is best for yourself. She helped refer me to mental health treatment in August when my depression was at its worst, and though the treatment was incredible, the psychiatrist there just couldn't compare. It reminded me of how lucky I am to have Dr Mizani, the best of the best. I have depression, anxiety, and a past of an eating disorder and she has been nothing but helpful and wise. These problems are big in my life but she has kept them under control like no other, and when they get less manageable, she finds the right solutions (like when she strongly encouraged me to go to treatment and provided those resources). Finding mental health professionals who know how to handle eating disorders and don't say totally triggering and incorrect things about them is surprisingly difficult, but she is one of the few who knows what she's doing and doesn't say triggering things. If you're struggling with your mental health and like me have fear around psychiatrists and their lack of emotional intelligence, please give Dr Mizani a try. She's different. She's gold.

I would say I am a type A personality and I like things under my control. Pregnancy, however, turned my emotions on its head. Thanks to a surge of hormones, everything made me highly irritable and aggravated. I knew, or hoped, that it was just the pregnancy. I decided to seek help because I wanted my pregnancy to go smoothly. Dr. Mizani was the perfect person to hear me out. She heard me out and used her expertise to see patterns in my actions and offered me ways to approach concerns I had differently. She got mad with me, when I was mad, and she validated me just enough that it opened the gates to tell her more of what I was dealing with. She was able to discuss sensitive issues about my marriage that didn't make me feel embarrassed. She is highly professional and very experienced with working with personal matters and intimate matters of the heart and soul. I am so glad I was able to have her be my doctor . She is so well read, researched and up to date in her therapeutic approach. I have since referred two other friends to her who are also equally satisfied and comfortable with Dr. Mizani.

I see Kevin Rauchut, who is one of the most caring human beings and extremely thorough in his questions, and I always feel confident in his responses. Kevin spends time with me to thoroughly assess what needs to be assessed and answers my questions. He is non-judgmental and offers his opinion and also respects my autonomy. He has been wonderful in also asking about my life as a whole and learning about me. It's helpful to normalize when we might be going through tough times and also have someone to celebrate wins. The front desk and reception are all very friendly and helpful. I'm always receiving immediate call-backs if I can't reach someone and leave a message. I also appreciate that APLA Health allows patients to use other locations and providers if needed, without forcing people to use the same provider. I do try to see Kevin, but sometimes if I need a referral for physical therapy, or something else with immediacy, then it's really convenient to be able to make an appointment with whomever has the earliest availability. I really enjoy going to this location, in the heart of West Hollywood. The colors of the rooms reflect the LGBTQIA+ community. The bloodwork is done on the same floor so there's no need to separate it out from the appointment. Other non-APLA Health facilities are starting to require that patients make a separate appointment for bloodwork, which creates a barrier. I'm so happy APLA Health truly makes an concerted effort to reduce barriers. Kevin Rauchut also goes into detail as to different options so I am able to make a decision on my own but with helpful guidance from a professional. I never feel like I'm alone. I used to go to the Olympic office as my main location, but then Kevin moved over to the WeHo location. There's a modern yet intimate feel that's a perfect combination. I never feel rushed, and the portal messages are convenient as the staff can let me know if questions require appointments or not. I do appreciate the option of a phone call, but I hope APLA Health can consider a video telehealth platform, even if it's not with our main provider. It would be very convenient to have someone who is looking at our chart and able to discuss things virtually through video, and not only through audio. APLA Health has been impacted by federal-level funding cuts, so please donate if you can. They are worth it!!!
