My 87 year old Mother, a Patient at Laureate for 7 years has had two of her Primary Care Doctors leave the practice in one year. She had only seen PA's and NP's for the past 8 months. My Mother called today to get an appointment with her newly assigned Primary Care Doctor (she has tried multiple times) and was told the only available appointment was in 13 months (December 2026). We have asked for 3 months to speak with Practice Management and was told to expect a call which has never materialized. I don't recommend using anyone at Laureate Medical Group - I've had only bad experiences. The staff is mostly rude, unprofessional, and seem miserable, and they are the ones you have to deal with. I've met primarily with incompetence, rudeness, obvious frustration and anger, & minimal effort. I have been going there since I was 18. I am now 50. My doctor retired. They assigned me a new one. You can't change Dr once they assign you the new one. I called today with a fever of 102.2 and they told me to go to Urgent care. Why even have a Dr. I am leaving. They are the worst. I also tried to get a physical. I have read the many negative reviews of Laureate, but I want to express my heartfelt thanks for my lifesaving experience with this practice. I took a first time ever flu shot and was the one person in a million who contracted Guillan Barre Syndrome from it. Got ill rapidly, had a bad time with urgent care and started failing... My primary Care physician was in Florida, so I was not sure what to do. My partner in Atlanta called her doctor (Dr Mellits) whose patient load was full but he asked if DR John Marshall would take me on....Dr Marshall said he would take me and he immediately referred me to Dr Quereshi (Neurologist) who wasted not a minute getting me evaluated and setting me up for an IVIG session at Northside Hospital.... all this occurring at the height of COVID and over the Christmas/New Year period. DRs Marshall and Quereshi saved my life !!!! I will stick by this practice as long as they will continue to see this 93 yr old Fart !!!!!! read more

Practice has gone to shit. After 24 years I'm calling it quits with them. Four months to get an appointment. The don't do ekg, chest X-ray, or hernia check any more. They don't even schedule follow up for blood work every 6 mo. Staff is rude and slow, don't have common manners. read more

I used Laureate in Sandy Springs for my sleep apnea. Took months to get an appointment. Months and several emails to get a cpap. I was contacted via text every few months about cpap supplies like filters, hoses, etc. through their supplier Resmed. Resmed contacts you as a reminder and you go through Laureate to place the order. Only thing is Laureate never contacted me to make arrangements. I went almost a year before they called and collected payment for supplies. They charged my insurance nearly $500. That was over a month and an half ago. I was told I would get my equipment in 7-10 days. I have received no supplies. I've asked for a refund of my payment and the insurance payment 3 or 4 times. Nothing. So, I've been a year without supplies that you are supposed to get monthly (or every 3 months?). I do not recommend them for anything. read more

Laureate Medical mailed us a statement in June, 2024 for $34.11 for a charge dated 3/22/22. That's right -- this charge was 2 years & 3 months old. I paid it since I didn't have ready access to our medical expenses (change of providers, etc.). They deposited our check on 7/6/24. Then (!) in mid-August 2024, we received a notice from a collection agency for the same charge. I mailed this company a copy of our check. By the way, this was the 2nd time that they sent us statements for charges that were 18+ months old. I don't know what's going on in Laureate Medical's billing department. I was done with them a while ago. I just wish that they would get their act together and leave me alone. Ugh. read more

The worst place , I feel they are overworking their staff they all look so very tired and overworked when you go in there. I am writing a review of the superb care I have received from my Primary, Dr. Delfavro. I have been a patient of Dr Delfavro for well over 10 years. She is also my husband's physician as well. I have chronic health issues that I have dealt with for some time and Dr Delfavro has been an answer to my prayer in helping me sort things out and bring a measure of relief. She's very caring, and knowledgeable and is quick to find the solution to my many health concerns. She is truly a gem and that's rare to find in this day and time. I have never experienced any issues with the staff and she quickly responds to any issues I present to her on the Laureate portal, whether it be a simple refill or adjusting meds I am currently taking. I am less than 5 miles from my neighborhood Laureate, but I choose to drive 25 miles away from home just to keep her as my Primary. She's worth the drive for sure. read more

Unfortunately for me I've been to a lot of doctors while fighting cancer over the last 13 months. I've had some very good doctors but this practice is the worst I've encountered. The front desk staff is extremely helpful and nice. The nurse I had was also very good. Doctor Leibu was arrogant, uncaring and spent no time trying to help. They did schedule a MRI which I had to call multiple times to get setup. The worst thing to me is I asked to switch doctors and that wasn't allowed. I talked to Karen who wanted to set up a call with Dr Leibu which I declined and asked for another doctor. Karen told me the office manager would call to help. I left another message which was never returned. My understanding from my Oncologist and my surgeon is that Doctor Kang in the group is very good. However to me it shows that this whole practice doesn't care about their patients when you get a bad doctor, ask for a change and are ignored. Avoid them totally if possible. read more

It actually pains me to write this because I have been chronically ill for 6 years and, at the beginning of my illness, a couple of Laureate doctors went above and beyond to help me. Recently, however, things have just gotten BAD. I don't know if the doctors and staff are just overworked or what but communication with this office is practically nonexistent. When you do see a doctor, they will tell you one thing to your face and then write something entirely different on your chart. One of these doctors did an in-office procedure on me that she botched - her mistake sent me to the ER! Just recently, that same doctor mistakenly called me, thinking my number was the phone number of someone in her office??? She then proceeded to badmouth me to my own self because she thought she was talking to someone else! As I said, this is heartbreaking. With chronic illness, a caring, responsive care team is a MUST... The 2 stars I leave here are for the Sleep Medicine doctors Leibowitz and Laurie Walsh. They are GREAT. read more

A little anecdote for you. Have you heard of Nextdoor? It's a social networking site, but for your neighbors. The site is designed so you can only see posts from people in the surrounding areas. You can also sell things, if that matters to you. But it's helpful if you need recommendations on a new plumber, car repair shop, nanny, pet-sitter, doctor... you get the gist. Well, someone had posted about wanting to find a new primary care physician. Maybe 10 people responded, and 9 of those 10 recommended Laureate Medical Group. As I was skimming through the post, I sat up a little straighter with bemusement, as I am a current patient and had no idea the practice was so popular. In fact, my own husband was looking for a new PCP. I have had good experiences with LMG, so I had recommended he give them a call. He did... but the next opening for new patients was in October, and that wasn't going to work for him. I was due for a visit, as I had not seen my PCP (Dr. Valdecanas) in a couple of years. I mentioned before that I have had good experiences. It's good in the sense that they get you in and out in good time, parking is FREE (as someone who has to visit the Medical Center area a lot, this is a blessing) and everyone I've encountered has been very courteous. You do get a bit of that feeling that this is a HUGE practice and you're just another patient... but if you don't mind that, then I recommend the practice. If you're looking more for that intimate feel where the doctor knows you by name without having to consult your chart, don't go here. (Case in point: Dr. V came in and pronounced my name Emma-lee-ah. It's pronounced Eh-mee-lee-ah. I've been seeing her for maybe 4-5 years now). read more

Dr Fishman, Lefkovits and Wender are great doctors but visiting them is not worth the hassle of the billing department. Indifferent at best, incompetent and fraudulent at worst. My family and I were billed for services not performed and if performed, for over the negotiated insurance amount. When we tried to resolve, they didn't call back or respond to letters showing proof. We were completely ignored while the statements kept coming like clockwork. It took a year to reverse an over billed amount, at which time they tell me they are adding a charge from the same year old visit for $500. Refusing to offer any details, the woman crisply asks "would you like to make a phone payment now"? Same dumpster fire regarding the services not performed but billed. No apologies just attitude. I don't typically write reviews, but I had such a terrible experience with the Laureate Group, I feel I should share it in hopes it will prevent others from going through what I did. I recently had a craniotomy to remove a benign brain tumor and my neurosurgeon referred me to the Laureate Group for a neurologist for medication maintenance. About 8 months prior to my surgery, I had been misdiagnosed by a neurologist from the Laureate Group. I'm not mad that they missed this at all, but the whole experience left me feeling a little uneasy about this particular doctor so I requested to be seen by one of their other neurologists. I'll spare you the delayed responses and rude remarks from the Office Manager that I experienced for 3 weeks trying to switch to another doctor. But in the end, they would only let me switch neurologists if I went to a location where this particular doctor did not practice or I went to a doctor of the opposite gender. The fact that switching is allowed for these 2 reasons, and not because of a misdiagnosis (which led to a seizure and immediate brain surgery), is, quite frankly, absurd. I have no problem the practice has no-switching policies like this in place, but they should be understanding of extreme cases. The Laureate Group lost business not because they misdiagnosed me, but because they didn't have compassion for someone who had been through a traumatic experience and just wanted to see a different doctor. I hope the medical professionals are aware of the administrative people that are representing them, because based on my correspondence with the Office Manager, it appears the doctors do not put their patients first. read more

I went to the Laureate Medical Group earlier this year for a serious issue and saw Dr. Lin on two occasions. She was cold and dismissive. My sister came with me on the second visit since she is an R.N. and concerned about my health. We both walked out shaking our heads and decided I need to find another Rheumatologist who might be more willing to listen to my history and help me. I provided my insurance card on both occasions, only to get a huge bill for ALL of it after the fact because Dr. Lin is out of network. Surprise! Even though they are affiliated with Northside and advertise that they accept Anthem BC/BS, I have been billed over $2500 without even being helped. UNACCEPTABLE!! I wrote a letter with my concerns and NO response. Just more bills that I will NEVER pay because I had to start over with another Rheumatologist. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! I would give 0 stars if I could. I am a patient at Laureate Medical Group. I was *supposed* to have my yearly physical with my primary care physician in March of 2020, but it got cancelled, so we rescheduled for July. When July rolled around, my appt got cancelled again, and I got rescheduled to August. That appt also got cancelled, and then my rescheduled appt in September got cancelled, and today, October 28th, the morning of my 5th rescheduled appt, I got a call and was told my appt had been cancelled yet again. I understand that there is a pandemic going on, but rescheduling an appt 5 times is UNACCEPTABLE, and they COULD CARE LESS. This place is a shit show. If you care about your health find someone else that actually gives a damn about patient care. UPDATE: I wrote the above review on 10/28/20. Later that day, after talking to the office manager, I got an appt with a different doctor (not my primary care physician) at the Barfield road location - but guess what - 2 hours after the appt was scheduled, the office manager called me and cancelled the appt. Yes, 6 cancelled appointments! I was finally able to contact my doctor via their patient portal and beg her to see me. Fortunately, she took pity on me and I was able to get in to see her. I have no complaints with my doctor, but being treated in such a disrespectful and thoughtless fashion by the practice is absolutely inexcusable. I went to Laureate Medical for years. My provider was Dr Mary Anne Valdecanas. I had a number of recurring prescriptions. One was Concerta/methylphenidate. While that is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs, it was always a pain. So I submitted a refill request and crickets. Let me be clear. Crickets were totally expected. The MD was on vacation. No worries. I can wait. The next day, a shooter walked into the lobby of the MD office and killed several people. (See Northside Hospital shooting at Laureate Medical.) Understandably the office shut down. I didn't call and ask for my prescription. They are dealing with tragedy. I can wait. A couple of weeks go by. I get a call. We got your prescription request but it's been a year and you need to come see the doctor. I say, that is fine "I will come in at any time on any day." Let me put you on hold. Yes, I checked and we don't have any openings with the doctor. "Well this isn't the first time I've heard this so I think I should go somewhere else." A week later I get registered mail letters telling me they will never see me again. These people are maximizing revenue and don't care about patient care. In particular, Dr. Mary Anne Valdecanas puts profits above patient care. read more

Dr. Gavin Brown, Laureate Medical Group Neurologist. Best neurologist around! I came to see Dr. Brown as a patient about a year ago with multiple maladies tangled up in a knot. Dr. Brown patiently picked apart that knot and placed each strand in its own pile. Then he conducted testing, the most effective of which was an EMG. After ruling out scary diagnoses like MS, he concluded that some of my I had issues should be referred to other doctors. What was left for him, he discovered, was a diagnosis of Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy. He quickly started me on aggressive IVIg treatments that I have taken for over a year now. Yesterday, Dr. Brown repeated the EMG. He compared it to the one from a year ago and I can happily state that my condition has significantly improved! The point is, Dr. Brown never gave up on me. He stayed with it and in his loving, compassionate way, kept me informed and helped to keep my spirits up during this arduous process. Dr. Brown is swift to reply on patient portal. Swift to get a patient in who needs to be seen. And swift to make a personal call when there are problems, like when I had an adverse allergic reaction at the beginning of my IVIg treatment. What I like about Laureate Medical Group: * They use FollowMyHealth, and as such most of the information I would normally have to call to get is available online on an easy to use interface. * They allow online check-ins and if you don't, or forget to (which I'm prone to), they have tablets instead of clipboards for checking in. * They accept my insurance, of course :) What I like about this location in general: * Alot of parking spaces available. * Courteous staff * (so far) next to no wait time at all Compared to prior experiences with primary care physicians this place has been a game changer. Just an awful experience from trying to make the first appointment (it was rescheduled 3 times) to the actual telehealth session, I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Dr. Lin is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. I was just shocked that as a new patient she didn't bother to introduce herself, acted bored and unbothered, and was just cold and rude. When you're already paying such an exorbitant amount to see a specialist, you deserve the highest level of customer service and care, not to mention I'm a new patient!
