On several occasions mom was left soiled and upset, yet when we called we were scolded and accused of harassing the staff. We were told that we needed to trust them. Once we were allowed in we saw first hand how call buttons were left at times unanswered. Our mom needed to be in the hospital in the end sooner than later. Yet again, phone calls and emails were ignored If you choose to send a loved one to this facility make sure you closely monitor their care.

She is healthier & happier now that when she struggled to live alone @ home. She has a beautiful sunny studio that we helped decorate together. She has made new friends here. BrightView Warren IS a beautiful place to live! It's like a resort. The food is excellent, I've eaten there many times. The meals are 3x a day, INCLUDED, as well as health checks, nursing facility, exercise rooms, beauty salon, a pub with outside entertainment and free drinks & snacks. You won't see that anywhere else - I know - I looked! The faculty & staff are truly caring and we have open communication on every issue. When I go to visit my mom, I am also visiting friends on staff & interacting with the other residents who live there. I feel that my mom is truly safe and well cared for. My 90 year old mom was there for four weeks after a long hospital stay. Sometimes she waited over 40 minutes just to go to the bathroom. The aids never ask if there is anything else that she need, they walk right out of the room as soon as she is back in her chair, often forgetting to give her her call button. Instead of helping her get back to independent living they got her dependent on diapers. The physical therapy wasnt all that great either (they did not do too much). The food is horrible and my mom lost 15 pounds after the first 3 weeks without anyone saying anything to me. Oh and the showers, my mom got a foot fungus. and it took two weeks for her just to get her first shower. They sent her home without having a shower in 10 days. Like others said, there are a few nice people who care, but most don't. I saw the aids hanging out in an oversized closet so that they cant be found when paged.

The owners, the Pelligrinos and Rivera-Dugenios families, have a smoke-free policy on their locations, which we knew and accepted. However, it appears they do not permit smokers from becoming residents at all. More and more New Jersey is becoming a socialist state but denying someone access to assisted living because they smoke, takes away from Constitutional rights. Given this is a private facility, there are no constitutional rights on private property. Keep that in mind when putting your parent into assisted living. You're better off having in-home care.
