I got the Custom PRK procedure - and it was painless and very fast. Currently right now (3 weeks post-op) I am experiencing no pain, slight dry eye (totally and completely normal for this procedure). My starting prescription was 20/400 - now I am very excited to say I have 20/15 (better than normal vision (20/20)). Seriously, if you're thinking of it, do it. Do it. Do it. Also, just for anyone's reference, I had this done the day after I turned 25(June 21, 2019). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The actual procedure (very trippy!) lasted less than ten minutes and they talked me through every step. I wasn't sure if I could ever handle any sort of eye surgery (one of those thoughts that makes me cringe!) but they made the whole process painless in every way. One eye still has a bit of an astigmatism and will probably need tweaked, but nothing that I have needed glasses for and I have no doubt that the process will be as easy as the first time around!

The eye doctors were great and Dr. Arffa (the surgeon) is wonderful at what he does, he was also really quick during the procedure. I had excellent results and see slightly better than 20/20. People worry about the pain, but honestly it was so worth it, the pain is minimal and it only lasts a few hours, if that. Also, it is one price for pre op, surgery, and post op so no hidden fees. If you can commit to your future yearly eye exams, you can even get an enhancement if needed some day down the road and that is built into the lifetime commitment of your original surgery cost. But my anxiety was soothed by these on-ongoing profession staff persons. I am the first person to admit that I am a tough cookie or a hard nut to crack. Anyone that can provide such precise and efficient care to their patients, as they do this, they were still absolutely on the mark once again. They were professional, caring, and knowledgeable . I came in for what I scheduled as a routine eye exam and left with unexpected charges I did not…read moreagree to; I have worn contact lenses for over 15 years and specifically told the technician I did not want additional contact lens services, yet I was billed for unnecessary services that resulted in out-of-pocket costs, and at no point was it clearly explained these were separate, non-covered charges; the doctors and techs were professional and pleasant. I will note they were very pushy with upselling me on lasik and telling me to use their surgery center. They kept insisting to get the surgery despite me saying no several times. The front desk experience was the opposite, Abby was dismissive and rude while discussing the surprise charges, which made the situation worse; I also discovered their contact lens pricing is significantly higher than major retailers, with the same brand quoted near $90 that is widely available for around $60 elsewhere; I don't mind paying for services I agree to, but I do mind being billed for services I declined and not being clearly informed about extra costs, and better transparency and professionalism at the front desk would make a big difference.

Center by Dr. Gladsden at 1640 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, MD…read more Dr. Gladsden is a very friendly man who explained most of what the Laser Surgery would entail and what to expect after the surgery. What was left out of the explanation was: 1) How dry my eyes would be and that I would have to use expensive Eye drops for the rest of my life to counteract the dryness, 2) That my vision up close and mid-range (to read my laptop) would now require reading glasses. So, I was basically trading off having to use glasses to see at distance; to having to use glasses for up close reading and mid-range reading. In all the procedure was painless although expensive, I saved for two years for this procedure. If you were to ask me if I would do it again? The answer would be no; due to the lifelong side effects of the poor up close vision and having to use expensive eye drops several times a day. Remember this is one man's experience and other people's experience may differ.

I cannot believe the change in this office for the NEGATIVE within the period of a year. His doctor is Dr. Grove. He is a wonderful Christian man. That did not change. But for the 10 minutes that we were with him, it really was not worth the way we were treated by the other office staff. I believe sensitivity training is in order for how to speak to an elderly patient. The first technician was RUDE. When she spoke to my father there was no kindness. She was totally doing her job and that was it. When she attempted one test, she was so incompetent that she had to get 2 other employees to help her. Maybe if she would have used better directional words my dad could have understood the task. Instead, she rudely sighed, said "nope" out loud and went to get help. When the trio came back, I said "let's remember he's 92 and he has Parkinson's ". At that point, nurse #1 told me I could have a seat in the waiting area. I said "absolutely not. I'm staying right here". So, after that, I was targeted as the B and my father's treatment went further downhill. The girl who did his refraction never made eye contact with me and said not one word of encouragement or kindness to my father. I'm sure nurse #1 told her how terrible I was. I left this review in the hopes that anyone having an elderly parent/relative going to LEC for an appointment goes with them to protect them from the generation of workers who are there now. They are RUDE and do not care for the elderly. DO NOT GO HERE! I would have put 0 stars for this review if I could have!
