Keep in mind that there is a "Jones Family Farm Pumpkinseed Hill" at 120 Beardsley Rd., and then the "Jones Valley Farm/Jones Winery" at 606 Walnut Tree Rd. My GPS accidentally took me to the Pumpkinseed Farm at first, but it wasn't a big deal because the winery is just a few minutes away. Once I was in the right place, a staff member greeted me and gave me the wine/food menu. They have a lot of different areas to sit, including a patio with tables/umbrellas (where they had live music playing), a pavilion with tables underneath, an upper patio that was covered by a pergola with leaves/vines on top, and an inside bar area with seating. The inside bar area has garage doors that were open, leading out to the upper patio. Even though it was a hot day, I sat under the pergola and it was surprisingly cool underneath! After sitting down, a staff member quickly came over and took my drink/food order. I tried a glass of the Sunshine White, which was delicious! It was on the sweeter side though. Keep in mind that they only sell wine by the glass on the menu, but they do have a store where you can buy bottles to go. I also ordered the Simply Cheese Plate, which came with sharp cheddar cheese, Jones Berry Chutney, and sea salt crackers. This was excellent! They also do have a "Light Fare" menu with things like a hummus plate, cheesecake, popcorn, etc. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. They had a "Bouquet Bar" set up where you could buy fresh cut flowers, as well as a small gift shop. Overall a very cool winery in Shelton, I would definitely recommend!

While you may not pick your own peaches in August, the family who runs this farm and orchard allow you to have your pick of white- and yellow-fleshed peaches from the bushels in their shop, sold by weight. These are the sweetest and juiciest peaches in town! Very friendly in the shop. Their apple cider donuts are fresh and delicious! Apple picking in early autumn is a delight. There is an impressive variety of apples and a plethora from which to pick. Hint: plan your apple picking adventures ahead of time by eyeballing their website for each variety's prime time so you'll be able to pick tons of your favorites! I could wander in the orchard for hours. It's $20.00 to fill a bag and the bags aren't super huge. But if you want to pick the apples, you've got to pay the $20.00 for a plastic bag that's smaller than what you used to get at the supermarket before Connecticut went green. (I get creative with how I pack the apples into that bag. It's kind of like playing Jenga.) Be warned no large handbags, diaper bags, or backpacks are allowed in the orchard, so you'll want to make sure you lock them in your car before purchasing a bag to fill. The peaches I bought today are lovely and I can't wait to return for apple picking and stocking up on cider donuts!

It was a beautiful fall day with clear skies and lots of apples to choose from. Definitely plan to come early as parking can be limited. It cost $20 for one bag of apples. The bag is pretty small and you're not able to bring in your own personal bags. This wasn't a big issue since one bag was enough for both my husband and I. Also, they have a small shop that sells the best apple cider donuts! This is a must try!!

I have gone to many of the nurseries around the area and traveled out of my way for something new that I can't live without. Dramatic? Sure. Do I care? No. Am I exaggerating? Nope. So, imagine my heartbreak when one of my favorite little plant nooks had at least a dozen plants that were if not already dead, would be shortly. The worst part of this is because they haven't been watered! What used to be a beautiful hanging scindapsus has been reduced to a shriveled shadow of its former self. I found a Micans shoved on a low shelf in the same shriveled condition. I offered to buy it at a lower price but the woman didn't have the authority to adjust the price. I could go on and on. This is usually a great little shop and I have bought several plants there. I would much rather support a small business than a big box but come on, you have to do better especially when you are paying a premium. I will add pictures asap.

The greenhouses are packed with beautiful plants and I return often because the selection changes rapidly. This is a great place to order plants for fund raising events too. There are horses and other animals at the farm and lots of greenhouses. Staff is helpful. Only cash and checks are accepted but not cards so remember them before leaving home.

It was my cousins first time here so we all went for the $8.50 each hayride, not included with the $13 each admission. We took a walk down the corn maze and took advantage of many photo ops. I like the store options better at Silverman's farm but still love and enjoy the products at Jones. I got my mother a bag of apples, my son a bottle of apple cider, and my daughter cranberry pumpkin cookies that she ended up sharing with us. They were fresh with a clean taste. I wish I would have took advantage of the coupon given to me and took the time to purchase some pumpkins before I left, but I rushed on to their nearby winery before hitting the road home.

They had such a nice setup that I feel they could've splurged on the trailer looking bathroom rentals vs. the construction site port o potties. A better bathroom would've been nice since this is a family-friendly place with lots of small children.

Hindinger Farm sells fresh vegetables, fruits, jams, and other items for children, and it has a beautiful backdrop. One side of the farm overlooks the other side of the farm and the other side of the farmi overlooks this beautiful backdrop of nature on the farm. Hindubger Farms puts on live shows, and you can go shopping. There is also a playground for the kids to play. The playground is fenced in with a picnic area so parents can enjoy their food without worrying about their children's safety. You can always check their website for events, shopping, and find out which food truck will be at the farm that day. The customer service was great, and I will definitely be back.

This farmstand has the best produce in Connecticut, in my opinion…read more In fall of 2024, my husband and I made it a habit to visit a different farmstand every weekend to support our local farmers. Of all the sites we visited, this was the stand out. The fruits and vegetables are incredible... literally picture-perfect and bursting with flavor. In addition, the stand has lots of homemade products like mango salsa, horseradish mustard, and the like. These specialty items are delicious! Oh, and don't forget to pick up some of their homemade preserves. My husband and I practically overdosed on peach preserves! There is a beautiful outdoor area where kids can play, which also makes the stand a nice destination for families. Last but not least, the staff that works here is so friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them.

The weeping willows, the beautifully decorated spacious pavillion, the goats spending some time with us, and the hospitality of the Paproski family. Diana, Stephanie, and Dan could not be more accommodating and helpful! The bride-to-be was on cloud nine and loved Diana, who thoughtfully checked in during the shower. A perfect day and venue! Castle Hill Farm is a farm that opened in Newtown, Connecticut in 1927. It was founded by the…read morePaproski Family who have owned it for four generations. Now a retired dairy farm, Castle Hill Farm was once the second largest supplier of dairy products in Fairfield County. In spite of the farm's retired status, the Paproski Family work hard to preserve their 100+ acres through continuing the production of hay and corn fields, growing Christmas trees and seasonal vegetables. In addition to their Farm Stand, Castle Hill Farm also has a petting zoo, hayrides, a Sunflower Stroll, a Corn Maze, a Pick-Your-Own Pumpkin Patch, and other various attractions at different times throughout the year. The farm is also available to book for events such as weddings and baby showers. My family and I recently visited Castle Hill Farm to see their Sunflower Stroll. First we stopped off in their farm stand which was filled with all sorts of fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, corn, peppers, squash, cucumbers, and even local honey. We decided to purchase some delicious looking Graffiti Eggplant as well as a handmade candle that had an intoxicating vanilla aroma. Afterwards we headed into the Sunflower Stroll. Our son had so much fun looking at all of the pretty flowers and pointing out all of the bees. Co-owner Stephanie Kearns told us about other things the farm will be offering in the coming months, including hayrides, the pumpkin patch, and other Fall Fun activities. Autumn is our favorite time of year so we'll definitely be back! Get out and see the Sunflower Stroll while you still can!
