There have been multiple issues each time we…read morevisit. 1) the tv plays horror movies with babies crying and dolls making screeching sounds with the sound turned up loudly. When I inquired why something like that was on the screen with multiple elderly sitting around the employee/nurses answered that it was for the younger patients who turned it on. Really? Who is in charge? 2) Patients fall and are not attended to and the employees say that their "families did not want them sent to the hospital". Isn't it procedure and always appropriate to send people who fall on their heads resulting in 2.5-inch diameter bruises/swelling and continuous sleeping to the hospital for evaluation? Again-who is in charge here? 3) There is no place to take a loved one outside to enjoy the day because all of the outside areas are full of smokers (workers & patients). Couldn't there be a designated smoking area? 4) When you walk into the common area and especially the dining area you will slip and slide due to the grimey floors. Yet-the workers are "busy" laughing and gossiping in the office area. No - this is not a safe environment to leave a loved one.

We were able to tour several floors with my mother-in-law. I can understand why she would like to make this her next home. Each floor carries a different geographical theme. The attention given to decorating each floor is pleasant to the eye without overload. It was nice how all the employees greeted each other and to hear many employees have been employed 6-7 years out of the 8 years of being opened. Even the residents greeted us and spoke very highly of Rose Wood. The facility was extremely clean and the air was not masked by any perfume sprays. Resident apartments were spacious and with lots of natural light. Each floor has its own cleaning service team. We were able to view laundry being delivered to resident rooms. It was nicely folded or ironed placed on hangers. It was nice to see residents actually getting their own belongs returned to them. Residents are able to take part in many daily activities, such as games, exercising, swimming, and mini field trips around Charlottesville. Personally knowing the owners is very comforting! Virginia and Sameer Tahboub are bringing exceptional care to seniors. They are enriching lives and caring for others! Rose Wood Village is committed to their residents.

There are so many activities planned for the residents either at the Blake, like music concerts, luaus, country western, or trips to exiting places, like ice cream, pubs, wineries and more. The care is neglectful to say the least. Heather initially LIED to us as we signed our contract, we asked about staffing issues. She said, "We've got that fixed now because we don't hire agencies anymore, they all work for The Blake." HA! They couldn't function without agencies! And if you don't know what that means, there are random people coming in that don't care about doing their jobs and lie about your loved ones care. We got a camera for my grandmother's room where we found out some horrifying truths. 1. Agency workers talking about how they aren't going to do x,y and z for a resident because they're tired of being told to get off phones. 2. No one offering water and letting my grandma go without meals and taking meds on an empty stomach! I had to text Heather that no one had been in my grandma's room to get her up for breakfast OR lunch. Probably not dinner either if I hadn't said something. Then agency makes up lies that my grandma was tired from being up all night. Come on - we have a camera, she was in bed! 3. Workers on camera saying my grandma had, "Ants crawling all over her," in bed. 4. Because she was dehydrated and taking meds on empty stomach, she had multiple falls even when 2 people were assisting because according to one of the employees, "They are afraid to touch Memory Care residents." 5. Hygiene was terrible. Her teeth were never brushed and she rarely showered. To top it all off - we spent months talking with a merry-go-round of corporate people who are quite laughable and did nothing to resolve any care related concerns and they are also a revolving door. We shared concerns to Estella, Lorriene, Mindy, Paula (gone), Kyle (gone), Heather, and more. Because we constantly pointed out the lack of care and because Heather "didn't feel we liked her," their solution was to discharge my grandma. I'm a teacher and work with all types of people all the time and I've NEVER seen such a complete lack of management skills, professionalism, and huge deficit in empathy. They had no care about the trauma it would cause my grandma to move and she's one of the easiest residents they've had. It is sad what passes for care. They'll lie to you too and say oh, everything is fixed now. If you want your loved one's life to be short, move them in here. Oh, and then they said they would let her stay if we only gave them positive PR and reviews! We refused and moved her to a place that's actually caring for her. If you want more details on a wonderful place as I know good care is hard to find, my number is 434-989-7870. If your loved one is a resident here, I recommend filing a DSS complaint if youv3 noticed similar issues. They've had so many violations that they are on a 1-year probationary license that is up for renewal in December I believe. See attached documents of their ridiculousness. It's hard to say our care concerns are "unfounded" when it's all on camera. They're just afraid of being in hot water. I think I'll laugh out loud if I get a comment saying, "We're sorry you experienced this, call this number because we care." They care about $$$$$!

The food that is served is fantastic and the cooks cater to special diets as we'll. The apartments are huge and accommodate each and every person living there. It is centered right in the middle of Old Trail community, short walking distance to cafe's, Augusta health clinic, gym, golf course and a whole lot more. At The Lodge there's Peidmont assisted living, Ridges independent living, and Seasons memory care. The health and wellness staff is very loving and caring with each and every resident in all parts! I would definitely recommend The Lodge At Old Trail to my parents and grandparents!

My father lives at Linden House now. He has been there a year. The first 6 months he was still self…read morecare, remembered to bathe and change his clothing. However, his bed was hardly ever made and trash would pile up. I complained once about this to the director, I saw a brief improvement, and then a few Covid cases hit the facility and both staff and residents were affected. Residents were having to eat in their rooms on disposable plates and food and trash were piling up. I live close by, so I would go frequently and clean his room, putting the trash in bags piled up outside his door. After all of this was over, and things settled some, I did see things getting somewhat better, at least with trash pickup. When norovirus hit the facility in February, my father's dementia was already worsening. He had an incident of diarrhea in the dining room. He continued to not be able to make it to the bathroom in his room, and the staff did an excellent job of taking care of him and cleaning him up, and cleaning his room and carpet. We were told several residents had the same symptoms. My husband and I were concerned and visited with gloves and masks. We expressed concern about the caretakers and other residents, because no one was placed in isolation and my father continued to go to the dining room even though his symptoms lasted several days. His aids told us that the isolation of residents needed to come from their superiors. At this point, my father's dementia worsens weekly, and we have a schedule, with the staff to help him bathe and change his clothing 3 times a week. We feel we have to continually keep on top of it, because I find that if I relax at all, my father will not get bathed or get his clothing changed. I have found that doing my father's laundry myself, has been very telling. One week he went 5 days without a change of clothes even though he had showered. Anytime I suggest that maybe more caretakers are needed on day shift to get everything done, I am told that they have plenty of staff, and they will be "spoken to". The director and director of wellness have both stopped answering my emails. Another concern to think about if considering the Linden House is physical safety. As my father's dementia has worsened, and he has no idea that the pendant around his neck can be pushed for help, and as his knee continues to hurt and give out on him, and he forgets that he needs to use a walker, we requested he be monitored closer. We asked if we could put a non recording video with audio in his bedroom, in case he falls during the night, someone (my husband and myself), would hear him calling out. We were told the policy is we could have a non recording video, but no audio. Well, that would defeat the whole purpose, because we would have the audio in our room at night, while we were asleep, so we could hear him call out. Just like you would use a baby monitor. The compromise was that he would get every two hour checks. Our problem is trusting that the checks will actually happen, since there seems to be very little oversight to patient care. As to why we don't move him. #1 he is only 5 minutes from my house, #2 it would be very hard for him to move to a new place with his worsening dementia and he seems happy at Linden House. He doesn't notice not changing clothing or his bed not made, or if he doesn't get a shower. #3 there would be no guarantee that the grass would be greener anywhere else. I will just have to resolve the fact that I must keep on top of things and people will listen. Some good things about Linden House: I have found the aids to be kind and seem to know my father. The physical therapists and occupational therapists are awesome and excellent!!

(it's interesting when you look on Google reviews two of the 5 star reviews are from Marion the social worker and Lori the ex director- reviewing themselves!!! hahahah) financial office- needs to learn to listen to the patient and their family- when they say they have secondary insurance that covers 100% immediately after managed Medicare cuts them off. LISTEN!!!!! listen!!!!!!!! LISTEN AND LEARN!!!!!!! your " years and years" of experience do not negate that -YOU CAN BE WROMG AND YOU CAN LEARN!!! simply PLACE a phone call to that secondary insurance and look what tou could learn !!!! you could have made so much money- whixh bottom line that's the name you said!! and also treated us with the respect we deserved. the respect my father earned and is why he has that insurance. needless to say this was a bad 2+ weeks for our father-due to the stress they put on him about his insurance ending payments- he had a relapse and he ended up back in the hospital for 2.5 weeks and then in another facility 80 miles from home for rehab (curious that after this place almost let him die sitting in a chair ignoring him, we couldn't find a bed anywhere near "home") well needless to say, this new place 80 miles away (much stress on our family because of this far distance that could have been avoided) - they listen and they had 3 months being paid 100% by our dad's secondary insurance- starting immediately after his managed health care cut him off and said he should be "well" which he wasn't!! bottom line- all they care about is money- they do not care about the patient and a family that need them. and they need to learn the real way things work- we told them over and over about his second insurance-

Several of the nurses my family and I interacted with came across as dismissive, cold, and even belittling when we voiced concerns or asked questions. Rather than feeling supported and understood, we often felt like we were being managed as part of a business transaction rather than receiving the compassionate end-of-life care your organization claims to provide. I fully understand the demands and emotional toll of hospice work, and I do not make these complaints lightly. However, the lack of basic compassion, warmth, and understanding we experienced from key staff members only added to our grief and made an already painful time much harder.

Dr.Li is an excellent surgeon. He correctly diagnosed a spine problem that had caused me to have constant pain for nearly a decade. I had seen 3 other surgeons and a host of other doctors who were unable to help me. He performed a spinal fusion that was life changing for me, and he was so kind and helpful.
