Terrible! The problem is my kids like their therapists but we've been dropped from past therapists…read morethere for being unable to make some appointments and the management team is awful. My daughter started getting psychiatric care to manage her meds - after MONTHS of being on a wait list we finally got someone and have seen her 3 times only and she cut her hours and no longer has availability for us. After WEEKS of emailing back and forth and talking with a case worker and asking to speak to a manager I finally got the manager to call me only to tell me there is no one else we can transfer to to get medication management care. Months and weeks of this. And no email response either from the manager, Mary is her name. They can't keep track of anything either. I'm only staying because my kids do like their therapists and need to see therapy and we have state insurance and can't find much care elsewhere, but having being dropped and having to start over and over is infuriating. Don't waste your time at this place. They are not worth it. Also, they have a policy that says they can drop you if you don't give them 24 hour notice oof you need to cancel. It seems like only one of my kids therapists stated this and not the other, so it's inconsistent. If my kid is sick coming home from school and I need to cancel, they said they could drop us. What a joke! Don't waste your time here.

In fact I'm in worse shape then when I started with them. 4 therapists and 2 psychiatrists in that time. It's hard to make progress when I'm continuity starting over. I have had to start from the beginning every time. It's like a launching pad for therapists fresh out of school. They get a couple of years there and then move on to better jobs. To make matters worse, most of the administrative staff are so rude and not knowledgeable. From the receptionist through the Sr VP. All defending the problems, never taking responsibility. They have made several billing problems; from running my credit card,without my consent, when I had no appointment, to overcharging. It takes multiple phone calls and a lot of time to get these issues resolved. Not to mention how rude and combative these people are. Having to interact with them is a nightmare. With the exception of Frannie in billing and Carolina. Whom both go out of their way to be helpful and kind. Given the fact people go there at low points in their lives, you'd think they'd be a little compassionate and helpful. I was without a psychiatrist and capable therapists for over 6 months. I can honestly say I'm worse off from when I started with them. Sadly, my insurance isn't accepted there and behavioral health people are in high demand right now. They have a sliding scale. I also want to recommend their programs to anyone dealing with depression, bipolar disorder, or other challenges, either in themselves or a loved one. NAMI is a nonprofit organization that helps individuals overcome mental illness and supports their families. These local volunteers arrange for an excellent, free, public education program, presented by a professional in the field, every other second Monday at 7 PM. at Kenton-Knox Conference Center, 9701 N. Knox in Skokie. They also teach Family-to-Family, a 12-week curriculum developed nationally by NAMI. This class for loved ones of adult consumers meets for several hours one night a week to develop in-depth understanding of diagnoses and coping skills, as well as to share knowledge of local resources and form a mutual support group. For the special needs of loved ones of children with mental illness, NAMI CCNS offers the NAMI BASICS course. The Provider Education Program offered by CCNS is a 10-week course for mental health providers for which CEU's can be provided. In addition to classes, the local NAMI chapter offers four support groups year-round, one for families, one for parents of children and adolescents, one for those coping with an illness, and a Response Line offering telephone support (This is not a crisis line). Another excellent program offering is In Our Own Voice that trains consumers to speak to a community audience about their experiences with brain disorders, treatment, and recovery. It's a 60-minute presentation including two personal stories and a video segment. This is suitable for presentation at schools and churches. The members of NAMI also advocate for more housing and research. If Yelpers are looking for any of these resources, I recommend they call the chapter office. If Yelpers are interested in volunteering or donating, I feel this is an organization they can be proud to be a part of supporting. NAMI has chapters in many Illinois counties. I'm only familiar with this chapter which serves Des Plaines, Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Golf, Kenilworth, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, Niles, Northbrook, Park Ridge, Prospect Heights, Skokie, Wilmette, and Winnetka.

I had a parent with a neurodegenerative disease for over six years. During these years, I called…read moreseveral times seeking information about support groups or programs for people with Parkinson's and their family carers. The person I needed to talk to was never in and I was always promised a phone call back. I never got a call. Maybe they're short staffed or have turnover? I figured it would be better to go in person to learn more about programs and services at NSCC. I went once by myself. Another time I brought my sister and yet a third time I brought my mother. We walked around the facility in the afternoon. It's nice, clean and spacious. Unfortunately, every time we went to the reception area/desk, we were told that the person we needed to talk to was not in. I gave them my info and was promised a call. I again, never received that call. My family has lived in Northfield for over 55 years. It's unfortunate that we couldn't connect with anyone from the local senior center, in person or over the phone. It would have been nice to have engaged in some sort of programming. Maybe there was something my dad could have enjoyed. He has since passed away.

One of the first things she said to me was, "What do all these relationships have in common?" I said, "They're all emotionally unavailable?" She said, "No. What they have in common is that you're doing the choosing." Once I focused on my own back history and faulty thinking, I was able to choose wisely and in mid-life, enter into the most emotionally healthy and supportive relationships I've ever had. I invited Sandra to my wedding because there wouldn't have been a wedding without her. She is incredibly perceptive, insightful, wise and caring.

She kept convincing me that it was not a baby yet, but just a few cells and since I have no problems to get pregnant I should do it. How couldn't she know as a phycologist that women can experience severe mental consequences after an abortion? I'm made the worst decision in my life based on her advise and I don't know if I will ever recover from it. She ruined my life.
