I attended a "Big 12 After Dark" BYU football game against Kansas State. It was BYU's first game as a member of the Big 12. And, this was my first visit to Provo, Utah and to LaVell Edwards Stadium. It was an 8:30pm kickoff and this was also a "White Out" game where every BYU fan in attendance was instructed to wear white. I had the time of my life!!! Granted, I am too old to be a student, but just being a college football fan in general, LaVell Edwards Stadium had it all. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!!! There were so many memorable moments, I'm still feeling on Cloud 9 from it all! Where to start?????? - The setting!! From the home side of the stands, you have a gorgeous mountain range view hanging in the distance. It's one of the best backdrops in college football!! Maybe THE BEST!! The scenery was stunning! But in a way, no surprise. Utah's landscape never ceases to amaze. For the 8:30pm kickofff, they allowed fans inside the stadium 2 full hours ahead of time. This gave me ample opportunities to walk around and explore. I bought my ticket on TickPick (as usual). It was $53 which I think was cheap. Both BYU and Kansas State (who has a solid football reputation) were 3 - 0 heading into this game. And for a primetime showing on ESPN, $53 was well worth the price of admission, lol. Before entering, they had the "Cougar Walk" where fans greeted the players as they entered the stadium. That was exciting. I made sure to take a photo with the Cougar Statue right outside. Btw, I parked along the side street at the BYU Botany Pond, about a one mile walk from LaVell Edwards Stadium. This way I didn't have to pay for parking. LaVell Edwards Stadium has a seating capacity of 64,000 and for this game...it was a sellout. That brings me to my next point... - Crowd energy and noise! I was mighty impressed with BYU's fans and students bringing the noise and showing their passion for the Cougars. Every third down on defense had fans standing and rooting for BYU to make a stop. I also appreciated the BYU Fight Song which was playful and all the fans knew the chant. Opening introductions were fantastic with fireworks lighting off and getting things started. And...at the end of the game when BYU won convincingly, there was a terrific 5 minute fireworks display that finished the celebrations on the perfect note. I also need to mention how when ending the 3rd quarter and entering the 4th quarter, the Cougar mascot got the stadium rocking with a pounding of the drums while fans responded and clapped along. It reminded of the "Skol Chant" at US Bank Stadium for the Minnesota Vikings. Another thing to mention was my seat...I sat in Section NN and Row 36 which was the last row of the visiting side of the stands. Yet...the views of the game from this Row 36 were awesome! I could see all the action perfectly. And just glancing around at the rest of the bowl that comprised LaVell Edwards Stadium, it appeared like wherever you sat, you were able to follow every play from any vantage point. Whoever designed this place did an outstanding job, lol! In the end, for attending a BYU football game here at LaVell Edwards Stadium, it had to be one of the most electric and exciting atmospheres I have ever been to for a sporting event. I loved every moment. And this is why I live for college football! Thank you Brigham Young University for having me. read more

The show was great. The benches at LaVell Edwards Stadium are horrible to sit on that long and the chairs you have to rent for 15.00 are just as bad. Getting out of the parking lot was terrible. The rent a cop they use to help with parking were either on their phone or standing around talking. It took almost 2 hrs to get out of handicap parking. The people that need handicap parking are not in good shape or are old and don't stay up that late. They should not be the last ones out of the parking lot and the big wigs get out first. We almost got in a wreck because someone was mad they had to wait and almost back into us. There were almost fighting trying to get out of the parking lot. STADIUM OF FIRE YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!!! I will never pay my hard earned money to go to it again after what we experienced trying to leave this year. read more

We come here every year for the 4th of July Stadium of Fire celebration, which is broadcast all over the world on the Armed Forces Network. The fireworks show at the end is the biggest stadium fireworks show in the country and usually goes for a least 20 minutes after the concert. It's definitely among the best anywhere in my opinion. Before the fireworks usually features a headline act and a celebration of some aspect of our nation's history. A couple years ago we saw Tim McGraw, and this year it was the Jonas Brothers. It gets four stars and maybe even less because the parking lot takes at least 30-45 minutes to get out of. Which is really ridiculous because they should have some way of managing the traffic to where it doesn't take so long. They only have a single exit and it's simply ludicrous how poorly managed it is - it's borderline negligence. Other than that, the facility is great. Just don't park in their lot and you will be fine. read more

Beautiful scenery around the stadium makes it a pretty unique venue for watching football. The in-game experience was really good with a lot of crowd sing-alongs in the breaks and good size video boards. The concourses get a little crowded at halftime and it's a basic bowl stadium but bonus points for the bathrooms being heated and there being hot water available. read more

Label edwards stadium has an electric environment. With 63,000+ seats, it allows for big energy. They recently installed 2 new massive HD screens that really contribute to the events. It's a great place to experiment football games, concerts, firework shows, fly overs, and more. With the Wasatch mountains as a back drop, it's hard to get more epic than this. There are plenty of concessions, bathroom, and the navigation is very easy to follow. The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars rather than 5 is for limited parking. I really hope that there are more parking structures in this stadiums near future. read more

So right now I'm at the Stadium of Fire event and listening to One Republic and wondering why in the heck I spent the amount of money I did. The sound system sucks. Echo and more echo. Not clear and just doesn't sound right. Poor sound mixing in someone's part. I want my money back! Also, is there a reason the giant monitors have a delay to The sound? Poor planning. We had an amazing time at LaVell Edwards Stadium. We went to the Cal-BYU football game. We purchased tickets on line for both the game and parking. It was glorious to be able to park right by the stadium (in Berkeley one must walk for at least 25 minutes to get to the stadium-uphill) Although we were the only Cal ticket holders in our session, everyone we sat by was so very very nice!!! Thanks. And the food - although we dined before dinner, BYU has better food. I liked the prayer and pre-game show. The fireworks was a nice touch. The game was fun (and happy we won). Such a nostalgic spot for me. I've had a lifetime of football games and Stadium of Fire shows here, and I'll keep the tradition going. My husband is a HUGE BYU fan and got season tickets this year, which has been awesome. The stadium's setting is beautiful, nestled in the heart of Utah County, surrounded by towering mountains. You can see Y Mountain from the stands. Which is especially fun if the Y is lit up. They keep the stadium clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their food is decent! Try a Cougar Tail (extra long maple bar), BYU Creamery ice cream (get Graham Canyon), churros and the local food vendors that come (Cupbop is great!). *NOTE: Not only is alcohol not served, caffeinated beverages are also not served. As a college football stadium experience, LaVell Edwards is up there with Notre Dame, Ohio State or Alabama. The BYU Cougars may not have the same history of college football greatness as those programs, but they have created a unique, inviting and amazing stadium experience. First, the crowd -- including the alumni and corporate sections -- knows and loves the stadium traditions. Every time BYU makes a first down, the stadium announcer chimes in "Another Cougar . . ." and the entire stadium (except for the visiting section) yells "First Down!" while chopping their arm forward in imitation of a referee's gesture. And BYU goes out of its way to make visitors feel welcome. The BYU band plays the visiting team's fight song before the game starts (yes, really). Volunteer greeters in suit roam around the stadium prior to games, welcoming visiting fans, engaging in conversation and wishing the visiting team a good game. Honestly, it's a little freaky at first if you're used to SEC intensity/hostility towards visitors. But after awhile, you just can't stop smiling at how nice BYU people are. Great place to watch a football game or in July the Stadium of Fire. Most seats have a good view of the field. They have brought in a lot of food vendors like Costa Vida, so the food is better than regular stadium food, although you can get that too. The only problem is that to get actual seats (not benches) you have to pay a ton of money or have a friend or family member who has had tickets for decades. Over all it is a great venue, the only issue is the lack of available chairs. read more

BYU has upgraded this iconic stadium with fan base experience in mind but execution falls short. The large LED screens at both ends are large and crisp. However, replays are not full-screen. All angles are provided--a four-way split screen--but you will need binoculars to see the details. Also, not all plays are replayed which is very frustrating. The music audio is deeper, extending the range to shaking base. However, the entire stadium must be as quiet as a praying church to hear the muffled referee mutter penalty calls. The WiFi in the stadium is good and provides a smooth social feed from #GoCougs videos to Tweets. The new app is good. It has 1080p video replays. It also has a feature to order food and drinks. There is a $1 convenience fee for each order to not wait in line for concession foods. I'd rather pay a few extra dollars to have the food delivered to my seat. The team rituals and engagement with attendants build fantastic electric energy. Entrance and exit is quick and the student staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I like LES because I'm a BYU fan but the stadium itself is just ok. There is basically no wifi capability and even cell service is poor. As a parent, I would love to be able to text my babysitters at home but sometimes that's impossible in the stadium. You can't bring in outside drinks and I would suggest the stadium gets water filing stations instead of just drinking fountains which takes forever. - UPDATE: there are now water refilling stations! Bathrooms are not good, but expected since it's an old stadium. The food selection has improved over the years but isn't great. They recently brought in a Cupbop food truck which is the only thing I'll wait in line for to eat. There's an adequate amount of parking, better if you come early. Parking is pretty terrible and do is traffic after the game but that is par for the course. They have ample restroom facilities and lots to eat, if you don't mind stadium prices. Been here once, it's a great stadium in one of the most beautiful environments in Utah County. Parking is bountiful, and it's easy to find your way. The fans are courteous to help when they can and It seats over 60,000 people. I would recommend to bring your own Dr. Pepper or Regular Coke in as all options are caffeine free. The selections of food are impressive and while sitting in the visiting side we had a good view of our team especially when we were kicking their trash! read more

I do not recommend this venue. It took me 1.5 hours to get into the venue for an event. The issue was with obscure and unusual policies that causes multiple delays upon entry. Security and event staff were nowhere to be found in the chaos ensuing outside. I missed the first 30 minutes of the show due to the entry delays and all the line cutters. read more

Fantastic stadium "The Stadium of Fire". On Independence Day, the Beach Boys played there on their 50th Anniversary Reunion Tour, which was out of this world awesome; and THEN the most elaborate, mind-blowing fireworks I've ever seen to celebrate America's Birthday!!! Our tix were in the 13th row & we could feel the heat from the flames (intense!) & were very close to the fireworks display. The best Independence Day celebration ever! read more
