We've been visiting Lavender Hill Farm for years, and it's truly one of our favorite spots in Northern Michigan. The concert series is consistently fantastic--top-notch music in a beautiful, intimate setting. Whenever we have guests up north, a stop at Lavender Hill (including the golf cart tour!) is always on our must-do list. My family and I took took the farm tour. Our guide was nice and knowledgeable about the farm and lavender. However, I thought that the tour was pretty short for the price. Very beautiful lavender field. The plants are very well organized into sections where you can see the shapes and fields that they create. The gift shop was nice too, it had a lot of lavender themed items, including many perfumes, bouquets, drinks, and more. I bought the lavender lemonade and it was very sweet. For my review of the Morgan Myles concert the 1 is only for Morgan's performance. I have seen multiple concerts at Lavender Hill Farm and they were wonderful. I highly suggest you attend Ashes & Arrow on Saturday, August 16th if tickets are still available. I have seen them in concert and they will not disappoint. Go early to enjoy the farm and the many varieties of lavender. I have taken the golf cart tour and it was educational and beautiful. read more

While these rolling hills of lavender are only in bloom about one month out of the year, their shop is alive with hundreds of lavender-based items; everything from soaps to sea salt, ice cream to shampoo. The shop is normally located in a tiny building on the property, but during COVID19, they opened it up by moving it into their gorgeous events barn, allowing everything to be much more spread out. It is decorated beautifully and open to the outside. The barn on the property has been redone in the inside and is full of twinkle lights. They host many weddings and events here, and even had a bingo game going in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. They also had candlelight yoga booked for that night for the community. How fun! I love that it's free to park and walk onto the lavender fields, just to look. You'll be tempted by a lavender soda at the shop, and usually there's a really fun tire swing to swing from (but it's been put up during COVID19) as well. Have a lovely hour or so here! read more

We came here at 11am on a Saturday and it was a perfect beautiful day! Not too crowded at this time which was great. Enjoyed picking our own lavender, walked around the fields, and then cooled off with some lavender ice cream and lemonade! Highly recommend trying the lavender vodka. All things lavender can be found in the gift shop for this local farm where they grow it, dry it and then distill it into oils. It is a fun spot for an afternoon tour either guided or not through the various lavender plants and into their historic barn. The guides and shop helpers were super informative and answered questions even though it was closing time as we ended our tour. The guided tour is on golf carts so you get to see everything but not have to go up and down the hills. Be warned though it is a bumpy ride! It is nice to walk on the paths though and sit in some of the carefully arranged chairs in the farm area, very picturesque. We purchased several things from the gift store as gifts and tried some lavender lemonade which was refreshing and tangy but oh so relaxing. Honestly about an hour after the tour and our drink we both were so relaxed we felt like a nap! They do a lot of community events like a free family movie, lavender lunch with bingo and concerts. It is a great spot to run off some energy or sit and look at the great views while literally smelling the flowers. Check it out when in the area if you like lavender anything. read more

What a fun day we enjoyed at Lavender Hill Farm. We were fortunate enough to visit during prime Lavender blooms but I'm sure the farm would be wonderful any time (weather permitting). With a golf-cart tour of the growing areas, shopping in the renovated barn, and even some U-pick fun it would have been sufficient for a good time, but check out the website for the many, MANY, other activities that take it even further. From concerts to yoga to craft and cooking classes......this place is special. Every person we encountered working was helpful and seemed happy to be on the farm. This makes a huge difference in how we felt as visitors and I hope means that the owners are generous, kind employers. We left with two Lavender Sodas (excellent), some Lavender Hydrosol and a candle. I would buy each of these again. read more

I'd been to lavender farms before but never lucked out to visit when the lavender is blooming until now. We drove from Ohio to Michigan to spend a week at the Upper P. We stopped by here on our way up and lucked out to have a good amount of the lavender already in bloom. they were having a wedding in the barn when we stopped by but they were kind enough to say we could still check out the lavender field and gift shop. it was a lovely place and the staff were also lovely. .. very welcoming and helpful. lots of bees .. you could hear them in the hives. I don't mind bees but if you have an allergy it wouldn't be the place to visit. :) lots of lavender products in the gift shop. read more

I can see this being an amazing wedding or reception spot. Pictures are stunning. But, it's really not that big and only took 30 minutes before my family was done. The labyrinth was a huge disappointment. The lavender isn't as tall as we hoped (I thought it would be a tall variety that created 'walls'). It wasn't. It was midcalf high and you could just walk straight to the center. My kids were majorly bummed. The swing, however, made up for it. That was their favorite part. The tour would likely be very good as I overheard them explaining the distilling process for essential oil. The fizzy lavender lemonade and lavender soda are refreshing and relaxing. It's been on my list of places to visit for quite awhile. So glad I got to visit with a friend in July of 2021. We really enjoyed walking the around the trails and admiring all the different types of lavender. I think they had 14,000 plants when we visited. During the day there isn't too much to do other than walk the trails, enjoy the beauty of northern Michigan and enjoy the lovely gift shop. Speaking of the gift shop.... What a gift shop! My friend and I both filled a basket with bottles of sparking lavender wine, candles, lotions, etc. I purchased a bottle of the lavender CBD bath salts and find them to work really well. I also purchased a bottle lavender antiseptic spray that has been great on dry skin and bug bites. A great find! They offer lavender ice cream, bottled soda and club soda in the refridgerators. My friend had a soda and said it's was really good. I had their club soda and it didn't have any lavender taste. In the evenings they appear to do a lot of fun things - cooking/cocktail classes, art classes, music, yoga, and more. The staff are incredibly friendly and very well versed in everything lavender and botany. It's a beautiful place. I highly recommend! Just be careful of the bees. :) read more

Beautiful place. Many acres of lavender to view (blooms in July) and a super cool old big barn that has become their gift shop. The barn is also a wedding venue; it has soaring ceilings and twinkle lights. Normally they have 8 purple Adirondack chairs around a fire to relax in while you gaze at fields & a tree swing (which are all put away for summer of 2020 to keep us all from gathering). Their gift shop has hundreds of lavender products: soaps, teas, lemonade, eye masks, lotions, plants, etc. They also offer many classes, yoga and bingo. We had the best time at Lavender Hill farm. We had no idea that we could take a tour. But we shopped in the gift shop, and found so many great products to buy. This is a brand new building. Lexi explained so much to us. The bathroom floors are made with 4500 Pennie's each, very cool. We walked around the grounds with many cute photo ops. This would be the perfect spot for a wedding. The barn had beautiful Crystal chandeliers. Kaitlyn was super sweet and took the time to answer the numerous questions that we had. She is very energetic, and a natural entrepreneur. She knows a lot about lavender -- she even traveled to Australia to visit a world-renowned expert on lavender. She has visited the Provence region of France, in order to learn how lavender essential oil is distilled from the freshly gathered lavender flowers. She will happily tell you how she set up her lavender farm, researching the varieties that will grow well in that area, and the type of mulch she uses, etc. This farm is beautiful. The harsh northern Michigan climate contributes to the strength of the lavender scent. You can pick your own lavender right at the farm, or visit the local farmers' markets to purchase Linda's lavender products and honey. My favorite product of theirs is the lavender laundry soap. It has the right pH to get all those stubborn stains out of your clothing. It smells nice and is gentle on your skin. To remove the soapy feeling that clings to your skin, rinse your hands with a little vinegar. The farm is open on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer. If you love the scent of lavender, enjoy visiting Michigan farms and need a gift for that special someone who has everything - you'll have to put this on your list of 'to-dos'! I visited the farm in the summer of 2014 where I 'relaxed' my way into touring the varying fields of lavender (I didn't know there were so many kinds). The farm is incredibly well maintained and there are even lavender colored chairs near the fields for views to enjoy. The gift shop is stacked with a combination of lavender edibles, soaps, boutique items and medicinal products. A fresh batch of home-made lavender ice-cream was just made during our visit and it was nothing short of amazing!!! Sadly, due to the ongoing problem that continues to kill bees (virus, pesticides, etc.) there was no honey for sale. You can pick up some edibles to go, including lavender that you can cook with, lavender jam, cookies, tea, etc. The place is kid-friendly too! We went to the lunch in lavender and I was honestly disappointed. It was basically just a lunch in a barn. Not really formal on what we were doing. It was a good lunch, the food was good but the staff didn't talk to us and didn't really explain anything about the farm or the history.
