I wuv this store! I always find something I want or a perfect gift for a friend. The ladies are all friendly as well that work here.

Horrible staff. I will never go there again. My friend who I wanted to show the store to had a mask on but she also has some breathing issues so the mask wasn't completely over her nose. The staff mask nazis made a huge deal about her mask being over her nose. My friend tried to explain and all the mask nazis replied was that she could come back when their closed. With that we took the products we were going to buy and left them there. Never will I darken the doors or show people this store. They are an embarrassment to Gaylord in my mind now. read more

The name and the building made me stop. I mean who doesn't want to shop in an upscale boutique housed in an old farmers coop from the 1900's? While "the old Spud" is filled with pricey items I could live without, the Frankenfurniture was fun to see. Frankenfurniture is made using mixed parts of vintage furniture to create something new and usable. You should stop too--if you want to shop upscale clothing, jewelry, furniture, decorative items and antiques in a setting with a history. read more

I have had the privilege to venture into this store out of boredom. WOW!! Wish I were bored and out venturing more often. I was in Aw over the building its-self, to start. Once you walk into this business it gives the nicest "PLEASE enter" feel ever. The original flooring was amazingly intact still and with every step I am sure there is a great story! The items are beautiful and so unique with the creativity behind them. I live near Detroit and let me say you will not find these items at the local boutiques. I could not agree more with the previous review; "What you get is what you pay for". These items are fun, one of a kind and will be the talk of your living space for years to come. If you are not trying to fill your home with cheap garbage you definitely need to visit "Spuds". Make sure to check all the corners and look up as there is something waiting just for you! I can't leave without commenting on the pleasantry of the staff. They were there to help with any questions and did not seem annoyed to do so, making small talk along the way. They went out of their way for an item I had purchased and could not have been more pleased with their outstanding service! Fun shop. Unique items . Some are a little pricey but you can find a gem for sure that won't cost much. They have items in all ranges. The decor is really interesting and high end. A great friendly staff. I love to shop here. You can find that unusual gift for the hard person to buy for here. Remember to look downstairs, there is a lot more to see. I missed it the first time I went there. I love to take my friends here when they travel with us up north. Make sure you go next door for lunch at the Bearded Dog. read more

The store was rather empty overall and my girlfriends and I had items in our hands to purchase when a cashier came up approximately a foot away from us and complained that one of our masks was not far enough over the nose. She violated social distancing because of her poor judgment of mask placement. We immediately began to leave the store and on our way out we left our intended purchases on the counter. We went to several different stores after this and had a wonderful time. We went to the Call of the Wild and were offered artisan fudge samples that were absolutely amazing. We bought a number of different kinds and the representative was fantastic. She offered ideas like adding a chunk of her raspberry fudge made with real raspberries to our coffee....was absolutely divine!!! read more

What a treat to discover this gem of a store in Gaylord this last Sat. So much to buy so many choices. Wonderful fragrant candles, unusal antiques and the beautiful clothing is to die for. Custom covered tapestry / lathered emblished sofas are one of their specialty. Something for everyone here. Disappointing. We made a 3 hour drive to go there because the TV ads perked our interest as well as its connection to the Bearded Dog Saloon next door. Interesting building. Saloon was closed (on a Sunday so opened later). The merchandise was typical over priced shabby chic appealing to the monied tourists more than anything. While there were some interesting pieces and artwork, for the most part it was stuff we had seen in similar shops in other areas. From clothing to candles to small pieces of furniture.....VERY overpriced. We thought it was going to be a source for re-purposed materials and instead was a high end boutique with a small handful of that scattered about. If you are in the area, nice stop. But definitely not worth a long out of the way drive to visit. read more

I love this place! If you like out of the ordinary things this is your place to shop. I have bought a down couch an over stuffed chair, lamps, a huge clock, mirrors, rugs, candles, large wall art and everything else! When I walk through the door I never know what will be calling my name and my husband always wonders how he will get it home! read more
