My husband lined us up to stay here for two nights in July for 34th anniversary. Even though it's definitely hot the cottage stayed cool. We drove our Harley from the Dallas area to stay here. Everything was super clean. The lavender soap was amazing that is left from your use. We didn't see another soul which was so nice. The morning breakfast is left in an insulated cooler on your porch between 8 and 9 AM. Everything is thought through in regard to the details of both the cottage, breakfast, and in communication. I do have to mention there are railroad tracks with an active train that runs really close to this location. My husband did have a hard time sleeping the second night with some of the noises. Myself on the other hand, did not hear a thing I think it's important just to mention this. Would highly recommend! read more

We had a lovely stay at the Lavender Mermaid last night. The breakfast was yogurt, fruit and granola, quiche with ham and cheese and veggies and a scone with marmalade. The bed and pillows made for a great nights sleep. The bath robe was a nice touch. Definitely will return to this spot with a private woods view from the Sunflower Cottage. read more

I've been coming here for retreats for years. The cottages a cozy and beautiful, the proprietors are friendly and respectful of my need for silence, and the property is blanketed in silence. The train regularly passes by, which disrupts the silence a few times a day, but I love that about the place. Breakfasts are amazing. Highly recommend! read more

Just came back from a one-night stay over Labor Day Weekend with friends...can't WAIT to go back! It's truly a gem in the middle of the piney woods in East Texas. We were immediately greeted by Michelle for our "check-in" (personal conversation about our plans for the weekend). The cabins were perfectly decorated and fresh, smelled absolutely wonderful, and were definitely clean. The lavender products throughout were a nice touch, and the entire farm smelled like lavender and rosemary. We visited Los Pinos Vineyard about a mile away during the afternoon and returned to the Lavender Mermaid around 8pm. We hung out under the pavilion between the cabins and the main house, which had tables and chairs. There is a giant, comfy hammock as well for star-gazing. Bedding was comfortable and smelled wonderful - only issue we had was that there is a train not 50 yards away that blows through every 2 hours or so. I am used to hearing trains, but my friends were not, so that can be disturbing. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely amazing: granola parfait with lavender cream, warm peach scones with peach preserves, Italian breakfast pie, and fresh orange juice! The organic ground coffee in the rooms was also delicious, and we enjoyed coffee with our breakfast on the private patio of our cabin. Looking forward to coming back again and again! read more

Lavender Mermaid B&B is in Texas wine country. It is a couple of hours outside of Dallas. They have several small private cabins. Michelle the Innkeeper used to be a "road warrior" and you can tell. The cabins are spotless. They are well furnished with high quality products, robes and linens. She delivers a wonderful meal each morning. One morning was quiche, scones, yogurt and fresh fruit. She uses local fresh ingredients. She provides a coffee pot and cream in the room. There is also a fridge and microwave. She asks that you do not cook in the cabin. There is a nice porch on each cabin, and a common area in the courtyard with a hammock and outdoor fireplace. She has a wealth of information of things to do in the area. We did a lot of antique shopping in local communities. Best of all it is within minutes of the Los Pinos Vineyard winery and restaurant. We will be going back! read more

I usually don't write reviews unless I have a very bad or a very good experience. I'm happy to write that my stay at the Lavender Mermaid Farm was EXCEPTIONAL! I spent 4 days at the B&B and can't say enough nice things to truly represent my stay. I'll start with the check-in process. We were a little late getting there and Michelle & Tanya greeted us with a warm smile and true hospitality. After walking us to our cabin and providing all the info we needed to enjoy our stay. We were pleasantly greeted by an adorable, lavender aroma filled, spacious cottage. She had homemade chocolate truffles on each bedside table to ensure we had "Sweet Dreams". We had never been to this part of TX and were very pleased to see all the brochures of the surrounding communities & "things to do" she had laid out for us. Each cabin is private, has a front porch overlooking pine trees & lavender bushes. We enjoyed sitting out there each morning drinking our coffee and enjoying the wildlife. Now the food....OMG.... Let me just say....if you don't go for the cozy cabin, beautiful surroundings, friendly hostesses, etc... Visit for the FOOD! It was exceptional...everything was homemade..from the scones, crescents, and quiches, to the granola & yogurt. Delicious! She even included homemade marmalade and fresh honey from the Lavender Mermaid beehive. They spent extra time with us, laying out our agenda and details on how to get to & enjoy each stop. We visited the Los Pinos winery and I swear we got extra attention because we were Lavender Mermaid visitors. We left feeling like family. This was an annual "Sister Trip" I take with my sister every year. We will definitely be making Lavender Mermaid, at a minimum, a yearly stay. Thanks Michelle & Tanya! read more

My daughter and I recently stayed here and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodations. Our cabin was spotless, the bed fabulous and the star filled night sky ended our day perfectly. The next morning a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit with homemade granola topped with lavender honey, fresh hot scones and bacon and egg puff pastry was delivered to our door. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here last night. We too as many as these reviews dictate were met by Michelle as we drove in and personally took us to our cottage and pointed out the amenities. This place is super quiet except the passing train every now and then and at night the stars are spectacular, and in the distance can hear cows mooing! We ate at Los Pinos and retired back at the cottage. Right on time breakfast was delivered to our door the next morning hot and ready to eat. Blueberry scones, awesome quiche and lovely fruit salad. Hated to leave! So if you want a place to unwind and unplug consider this place. We will be back I'm sure! read more

My husband took me here for our anniversary trip. This was our second stay here. It is so quaint and relaxing!!! The food is exquisite, and the owner is even more so. Here you can find attention to detail and charming private cottages nestled into the piney woods of east Texas. In the winter you can enjoy a fire in the outdoor area under a canopy of stars. It's a great hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Located not far from Los Piños Winery, this local B&B has the best of both worlds. It was a lovely stay start to finish. The cabin was spotless, thoughtfully appointed and the breakfast very good. The breakfast presentation was charming as was cabin's furnishings and finish out. The proprietors were very gracious and welcoming. They even went out of their way to let me know I'd left a special scarf in the cabin and mail it back to me. A first for me and I've left my share of property in hotels never to see it again. The only caution I would have is we stayed in the cabin that's split-Michelle made sure I knew that when I booked our stay as you can hear your neighbor pretty clearly. Again, I was advised of this and we were lucky to get anything as we booked late it's more an FYI for guests. read more

Magical, Cozy, & Clean- you are surrounded by nature in a secluded setting -yet close to the Piney Woods Wine Trail and other attractions of East Texas. We booked the Sunflower cabin on August 19-20, 2016. I had been told by previous guests this is a great place to stay - so we were curious to try it for ourselves. We were greeted by Michelle one of the owners, who introduced us to the grounds -nestled among pine trees, lavender, rosemary & other flowering plants- and the clean, delicious smelling, comfortable cottage. We spent most of our time on the private covered porch, just enjoying the setting - hummingbirds and bunnies, the wind in the pine trees. It was so comfortable and restorative, that we decided to stay and enjoy our time right there. I can't say enough about the breakfast of fresh squeezed orange juice, home made and locally sourced fruit salad with organic home-made yogurt and granola with lavender syrup. Peach, and blueberry scones with orange/blueberry home-made jam were followed by Gourmet egg creations of sausage, ham, hash browns - all hand delivered in a vintage cooler by Michelle, hot - right to our porch. The king sized bed was incredibly comfortable, with perfect little hand-crafted lavender chocolates at the bedside. And this is important - the air conditioner kept things icy in the August heat! The kitchenette had everything we could ask for, including a small refrigerator, organic ground coffee, tea/cream - wine glasses. The suite had all you could need, including lavender soaps, lotions and spa robes. There is a TV with movies--I confess we never turned it on. We loved the sound of the train coming through nearby, it just added to the ambience for us, but if you don't like trains, it travels through briefly, but frequently. There is a lovely estate vineyard very close by with a wonderful menu which conveniently places the finishing touches on a memorable stay. Here for my wedding at los pinos since all the cabins at los pinos were taken had to use this place. And as soon as I got there was greeted by a woman who immediately gave us a hard time saying we were causing too much traffic and we said sorry we will move some of the cars out. After awhile after we cleared the 3 cars out of the area the lady came back saying no one under 21 is allowed to stay making me have to leave with my sons. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever heard of. Not recommended. Make America great again. read more

My wife and I found Lavender Mermaid along with the East Texas wine trail and we are glad that we did. In the last couple of years, we have stayed there several times and have always enjoyed our stay. Michelle is welcoming and her breakfast items are to die for. I think we look forward to breakfast more than visiting the winery which is very close by. It has been fun to watch the pine trees grow up around her property that they planted about 3-5 years ago. It makes the surroundings even better. We like to call it tree time! Finding the property can be a bit of a challenge, but we like it that way and it adds to the mystery of being off of the road and out in the woods. I can't say enough about the cabins and the other amenities that Lavender offers, in fact we are planning on having a large group of friends reserve the entire facility sometime in the Summer! The grounds are perfect for sitting around out by the fire pit and enjoying a beverage. If you are looking for a quite place to decompress from the city, have no doubt that you have found the right place! read more

In all my travels (including around the world) possibly my worst experience. And that includes food poisoning in Poland. Will never go back. Actually left early and did not stay second night. Just wanted to be away from these people. They had me crying right before my son's wedding and knew I was there for the wedding. AC did not properly cool and as a bad diabetic caused big problems. There appeared to be sidewalk and safety lighting; however none was working. In the dark my husband tripped over concrete and fell. However, I will say the breakfast that was prepared was very nice. The event at Los Pinos had lots of people that heard how I was treated and were aghast. Note: This is the only negative comment in 65 years. I had the chance to visit friends in East Texas, and they had recommended the Lavender Mermaid Farm B&B. Just a little more than 2 hours from Dallas, I arrived at the Lavender Mermaid situated in the beautiful piney woods, and was warmly greeted by Michelle one of the owners. After a tour of my cottage, which had all the amenities of a 5 star Hotel in Dallas, I decided to take a short nap before visiting my friends. The bed was amazing, and felt totally refreshed. The next morning there was a light knock on my door, and my breakfast was delivered. I opened the retro metal box to find fresh orange juice, lemon- blueberry scones, warm and wrapped in a towel, served with homemade lavender pear preserves. a delicious fruit and yogurt parfait topped with Michelle's own granola, and a fabulous Italian Breakfast Pie, with Italian sausage, cheeses, artichoke hearts and fresh herbs from their garden. Each day brought a lovely box with a new breakfast along with a menu, weather report, and the promise of making my stay as warm and hospitable as I have ever experienced.
