    The view from our porch

My husband & I stayed 3 days, wish we could've stayed longer. So peaceful @ tranquil, got the best sleep of my life!!! Great escape from the city. We stayed in the lavender cabin, very clean, nicely decorated. If you need to unplug & just relax this place is ideal. Breakfast is brought to your door every morning, & it is amazing. Michelle is not only a gracious hostess but an phenomenal chef. We are hoping to make this a yearly if not biyearly getaway.

The first time we came to investigate the history of hauntings, along with a couple of other paranormal groups and the atmosphere couldn't have been better! We got several great EVPs in the Carriage House, as well as a couple in the main house. We definitely want to go back to see if we can catch something on video as well! This weekend was a "girl's" weekend and the owners, Lola and Mark, were just as much a part of our little group as we were and we wouldn't have had nearly as much fun and laughter without them!! The breakfast was excellent, the made to order coffee and expressos were like being served VIP at a coffee house and we were even allowed to stay in the carriage house (though it isn't quite ready for the public). This home makes you feel as though you have stepped into the past with lovely exposed wood in the entrance foray and the layout of the house. The restorations going on will be a long and slow process I am sure, but I love the feel of the house just the way it is and the wonderful owners make it all the better! I will be returning as often as I possibly can!

On arrival, the wide sweeping porch and drive through seem to welcome you in with an well placed brick walkway. The stark white paint, appointed planters and landscaping remind you to come back to that porch after checking in to take it all in. Paul and his staff, are on site to welcome you and show you to your room. I found my sty to be in the "Don Meredith" suite. It was Dandy indeed! King sized "poster bed" with a decor that takes you back 100 years, yet the modern amenities most homes don't enjoy now days. The large private walk in shower is a surprise of a modern comfort that you wouldn't expect after opening 200 year old imported barn doors from France. I found the night cap of wine and treats were a nice touch to brag of the days activity with other guests, or grab a few treats and a glass of wine and retreat to your room for privacy. Breakfast by Paul and Buzz proved to be a great way to start the day. Paul seems to know when to be present enough to be part of the conversation and fun, yet gone when you seek a more private time. Truly professional. My work revolves around travel and often find bed and breakfasts to sometimes not be very comfortable, and I can't say that about the Holbrook. Can't wait to return.

Ha!). My whole family ended up staying at the Best Western (which I heard NOT the best choice after their stay...) and we were in a hunt to find an affordable option that didn't include infestations of ANY sorts. We stumbled upon the Munzesheimer Manor on Hotels.com and I was slightly hesitant from the price, but there was only one room available (The Kringle Cottage) in the entire town and I emailed an inquiry to Ashlee. Just from her email, I felt sincerely welcomed and right at home, so even though the price was a little more than we initially wanted to pay, we booked! My next email to her had to deal with food preferences. The last thing I wanted to be was a bother, but since the price included breakfast, I thought I would ask if she would have any options without meat, dairy, or egg (vegan). I was happy to make other accommodations if that wasn't an option, but she happily emailed me back with an "of course!" without hesitation. We were THRILLED. She mentioned that she had a gluten free guest staying that same weekend and she is always cooking for allergies or preferences. So not only was Ashlee going to provide us with food, but when we got back from the wedding, there were freshly baked vegan brownies on our bed! (Jaw dropped with hungry drool!). In the morning she greeted us on our porch with hot tea (our preference over coffee) and at 9am we walked into the dining room to gourmet meals and beautifully set table with freshly squeezed OJ, maple chia seed pudding with fresh fruit, and German pancakes with a fresh strawberry drizzle. (Food cherubs singing!!) Besides the food and fabulous service, our Kringle Cottage was the cutest damn thing west of the Mississippi!! We had our own little porch with swing and all, a claw foot tub with an adorable heated furnace nearby, and the year-round comfort (I don't care how old you are!) of Christmas decorations and cheer! It was the BEST B&B/hotel/motel stay we have EVER had! If you are even thinking twice about booking a room here or thinking of swinging through this sweet little town, PLEASE DO!! If we ever drive up to Dallas again, we will be going out of our way to stay here! :) Can't say enough about the sweet southern hospitality we received.
