I can't stop thinking about our stay here in mid March of this year!! My boyfriend and I visited Mineola for a wedding and decided to try to book a hotel last minute - (not thinking that Mineola is a small town and there is NOT a plethora of hotel options! Ha!). My whole family ended up staying at the Best Western (which I heard NOT the best choice after their stay...) and we were in a hunt to find an affordable option that didn't include infestations of ANY sorts. We stumbled upon the Munzesheimer Manor on Hotels.com and I was slightly hesitant from the price, but there was only one room available (The Kringle Cottage) in the entire town and I emailed an inquiry to Ashlee. Just from her email, I felt sincerely welcomed and right at home, so even though the price was a little more than we initially wanted to pay, we booked! My next email to her had to deal with food preferences. The last thing I wanted to be was a bother, but since the price included breakfast, I thought I would ask if she would have any options without meat, dairy, or egg (vegan). I was happy to make other accommodations if that wasn't an option, but she happily emailed me back with an "of course!" without hesitation. We were THRILLED. She mentioned that she had a gluten free guest staying that same weekend and she is always cooking for allergies or preferences. So not only was Ashlee going to provide us with food, but when we got back from the wedding, there were freshly baked vegan brownies on our bed! (Jaw dropped with hungry drool!). In the morning she greeted us on our porch with hot tea (our preference over coffee) and at 9am we walked into the dining room to gourmet meals and beautifully set table with freshly squeezed OJ, maple chia seed pudding with fresh fruit, and German pancakes with a fresh strawberry drizzle. (Food cherubs singing!!) Besides the food and fabulous service, our Kringle Cottage was the cutest damn thing west of the Mississippi!! We had our own little porch with swing and all, a claw foot tub with an adorable heated furnace nearby, and the year-round comfort (I don't care how old you are!) of Christmas decorations and cheer! It was the BEST B&B/hotel/motel stay we have EVER had! If you are even thinking twice about booking a room here or thinking of swinging through this sweet little town, PLEASE DO!! If we ever drive up to Dallas again, we will be going out of our way to stay here! :) Can't say enough about the sweet southern hospitality we received. read more

Pretty much a "ditto" for Heather H.'s review. This B&B is an easy drive from the Canton trade days, and it's a beautiful place to stay. I understand that they will be raising their rates, but in doing so, the manor is adding a host of amenities and new constructions. I am very excited for all the Bret and Ashlee will accomplish in 2015 with the place, and I am very pleased they are continuing to work with local community businesses to create a properous community in Mineola. If you take the Amtrak train to Mineola, you can even walk to the manor from the train, although I'm sure the Ungers could arrange transportation. Bret and Ashlee go far out of their way to make guests feel at home and relaxed at the manor, and they love to talk about the manor's history and about the Grand Saline/Mineola area. Make sure you attend breakfast every day. The food is wonderful (I'm glad they're changing back to the beignet coffee!) and the hospitality will make your vacation excellent. read more

This was a house that used to belong to a family a long time ago. It has been converted into a bed-and-breakfast. I had to be in the house to get a good understanding of how the setup was going to be. I was confused after seeing pictures online When selecting the room. When we got there we had a room upstairs with a bathroom and fireplace. The kitchen and living room were downstairs that was to be shared by the other rooms in the house. There was one other family in the house. We were looking for something that had the television in the bedroom. After Sam spoke with the owner they allowed us to upgrade to a cottage. The Cottage was wonderful. It had an old school bathtub with shower. The bathtub sat next to the bed. The toilet and sink was closed off. This allowed one person to be in the bathroom and the other person to shower without disturbing the other. At 8 a.m. tea and coffee was dropped off to the cottage along with some baked goods. Breakfast was served at 9 a.m. that was prepared by Sam who was a wonderful cook and gracious host. Sunday morning we had french toast and bacon. Monday morning we had something called tomato pie which was some type of precursor to Pizza. It was phenomenal. We definitely know where we will be staying the next time in the city. read more

The Munzesheimer Manor is historic and beautiful. The new owners are absolutely incredible, too, and showed us the best time while we were there. The food was delicious, and they even arranged for there to be champagne and strawberries available to me for my birthday! The owners were completely accommodating, and my friends who visited us while we were there were impressed as well. When we go back to Mineola, this will be where we stay! read more

I have visited this bed and breakfast twice. They have rooms in the house and little cottages outside the house and both are very well decorated. The owners are nice and sociable, and the breakfast is quite delicious and definitely enough to fill you up. The stay was comfortable and romantic, and I feel relaxed after visiting. There is something special about staying at a bed and breakfast. The house is charmingly old, which also means that the stairs and floorboards creak when you walk on them. They also have 2 friendly cats which will visit with you inside or outside and 2 well behaved Scottie dogs that love people. This is the only B&B I have been to so I can't compare, but I will surely return again when I need some time to relax and get away from the city. read more

We could not have found a more perfect venue for our daughters wedding. Ashlee has a calming presence and she and her staff went above and beyond to personalize every detail. Weddings are usually stressful, however, the amenities and services at the Munzesheimer Manor made for a relaxing and fun day. Perhaps one of the best things was that our options were endless. We did not use the existing sound system because we love the orchestra so we hired a stringed quartet. Tables, chairs, linen, china and decor was handled for us so we simply added our own touch to the existing decor. Every detail was taken care of for us so all we had to do was enjoy the day. The pre-wedding champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were delicious and added to the fun in the brides and grooms dressing rooms. Immediate family of the bride and groom stayed the night. I am so glad we did not rent hotel rooms because the Munzesheimer Manor offers more elegance and space than any hotel we could have stayed at in all of East Texas. The beds were soft and the rooms were beautiful, elegant and immaculate! Breakfast was superb and the perfect ending to our wedding weekend. The the elegant yet comfortable atmosphere lent a hand to many happy memories and beautiful wedding photos. I cannot imagine a more perfect place in East Texas to have our daughters wedding. read more
