I waited another 30 minutes for Kendall (finance) to discuss upcoming cost and procedures. She was kind initially. I was referred to Orthodontics in Middletown for a root canal. They couldn't see me for a month. I proceeded to make an appt at my regular dentist. I requested my X-rays and was told I would have them via email prior to my app that day. Needless to say 9 days later and I still didn't get them. I called many times, got hung up on, told Kendall will call you back and she never returned my calls. I felt like once I decided to go elsewhere I was no longer a priority. Thanks to Dominic who handle my issue immediately after calling for 4 or 5 days to get someone on the phone. Not the best way to treat a 1st and last time client.

When Dr. Petrunich came in, he checked the tooth and quickly said that it looks as it hasn't fully grown out yet (not true as my referring dentist informed otherwise and I saw my xrays). I heard him whisper something to the dental assistant behind me. That made me feel very uncomfortable, made me wonder why he would whisper in the presence of a patient. He then began injecting numbing medicine. He gave me three injections (waited about a minute between each one. I had the feeling he was rushing as it was late in the afternoon) and numbing never happened. He eventually said he was going to tug on it a little to see if I would feel anything; it hurt as if metal was being pulled through my tooth. He then said that he is going to have to reschedule so they could put me to sleep. I have had several dental surgeries done in the past and never put to sleep or given anything to calm me. Ever since he pulled on my wisdom tooth, I have had random ear pain on that same side. I left Petrunich's office and scheduled an appointment with another dental surgeon I had seen in the past, even though he was now out of network. He immediately popped the wisdom tooth out within minutes. Never felt any pain or aches afterwards either.

I waved said goodbye have a nice day to which I only received a cold look, which was easy to notice as she wasn't wearing a mask. After we left my wife said Dr. Ettinger was cold and rude today, as if once they got the money they were done caring about you. I normally wouldn't have noticed or really thought about any of this. Going about my day without thinking twice. But during our very long wait I started to notice the treatment the white couple behind us got from the receptionist. She was friendly and talkative with them, even walking them through options when their card was declined, never announcing their fee. While they were sitting and waiting for the doctor, trying to figure out payment she went out of her way to let the wife know she could stay there in the waiting room or in her car and she would come out to let her know they were finished. Which was the point I noticed the difference in the service we got. Don't know if it was racial or not as I'm Black and my wife Asian and from some of the other reviews I've seen it may not be. But either way if this is just the way they work I can understand why they haven't won an award in more than 10 years.
