Fantastic salon in SE Calgary. Very modern and good amount of hair products. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They always call two days prior to remind you of appointment. Been going here for 6 years now and very satisfied. Complimentary drinks of Italian soda and spring water too. Hair stylist are very friendly and lots of room to sit and wait too. It's on the pricy side for a hair salon but well worth it. Overall this is the best to get haircut for south Calgary. read more

Never leave a salon with wet hair. I thought it looked ok but upon inspection after it dried, my hair looks like a 50$ wig i over paid for. The colour is all over the place. I understand the concept of highlights but this... my strands are all SEVERAL different colours from root to tip. I dont know how im going to fix this. Ive been so happy with my hair for years and now im basically in tears. My hair is ony of my most treasured features and now i think ill have to just get it completely corrected. Staff were lovely but for what i got i was incredibly over charged. If you plan to spend 300+ on what essentially equated to highlight and toner go somewhere else. I am really unhappy with the results. My hair is a multicolored frizzy mess. Im from out of town but i would not return if i were local. read more

what a disappointment. I had an appointment for 3 pm only to find out the hairstylist wasn't even in. she didn't have any other appointments so was absent. obviously I wasn't important. I was told no other stylists were available for a cut. I wont be running back so it's on to find someone who wants to work. read more

I had the worst experience at this salon. I've been coming here on and off for years, the last 2 visits have been not so great with yesterday's visit the cherry on the cake. I asked for a cool tone rooty balayage and I got 50 shades of orange, uneven bands of bleached hair all over. Uneven roots, horrible haircut. But the worst part of all...my hair is completely damaged. I went in with healthy shiny hair, now I have frizzy, broken ends, dry all over. I am so extremely horrified with the end result. I went back to have the disaster fixed, the hair stylist toned and cut it. It still looks NOTHING like what I wanted. It's still extremely damaged. I received a refund, minus tip and they wanted to charge me for the take home treatment!!! Plus she hinted I should find another place to get my hair done, like it's MY FAULT my hair looks like a disaster. Completely unprofessional. Go somewhere else....save your hair. EDIT. second stylist didn't even rinse the toner out of my hair properly and now my pillowcase is ruined! Ruined hair, ruined bed sheets. GREAT!! read more

Damaged my hair. No one replied back. I paid almost 300 dollars. All my hair are fried. It changed colour from one wash to other and I have orangy and yellow brassy hair. I paid them to damage my hair. I lost half of my hair. Dis not go out for couple days coz it looked so horrible. I spent so much money on treatment products but still same. Please let me know if anyone know how and where to complain ad this was not fair and my hair, my confidence my happiness ruined. I feel so horrible dint even look in mirror. I've tried this salon three times. I keep thinking that it will get better, but the last visit was my final straw and I won't go back. Heather did not completely dry my hair and then took a hot straightener to damp hair. I did not realize that the middle section was damp until I was back in my car. On top of that, she didn't do a good straightening job; lumps all over the back. read more

I got a half head of highlights and a trim with a junior stylist. It was the most painful haircut I've ever had. My wavy and thick hair was brushed with the tiniest comb, rather than with a brush and then a comb. I was visibly wincing at the hairdresser who was so rough that she actually pulled my head around as she combed my hair. The entire appointment was treacherous and had me in tears. I was hoping that after jerking my head around few times that the stylist would notice how rough she was being and ease up a bit. This obviously didn't happen, and I knew of I tried to say anything I would end up yelling and making a huge scene, which I was trying to avoid. To make matters even worse, my highlights were still golden blonde and not a cool shade as I had requested. And a half head of highlights was the same cost as a full head of highlights else where. read more

3.5 stars. I went here the other day because I was sick and tired of paying upwards of $80 every time I needed a simple trim. I really do not care about frou-frou stylists, who put loads of products in your hair to make it look like something it clearly does not look like the week after when you do it yourself. The salon is pretty, clean and warm. They had various jewelry for display, and a really pretty white Christmas tree lit up. I liked the vibe of the salon. It was a great atmosphere without trying too hard and coming off as cold. I had Rachelle, who briskly took me to the wash basins, gave me a shampoo, and to the chair. She gave me a nice trim, did not take off too much, and did not have the airy-fairy 'stylist' attitude which I really do not care to relate with. I made conversation with her effortlessly, and got a clean trim. She told me they also do glosses, which is awesome. I did gloss a few times in Montreal and hadnt found it in any salons in Calgary yet. In the end, my bill was so reasonable I was genuinely happy. It made the whole visit even more pleasant! Great salon, I am very happy to finally have a place to go in Calgary. I HATE getting my hair cute because they always take to much and I usually get a lecture about waiting to long in between trims which I do not appreciate. Heather did a great job she barely touched the ends which was exactly what I asked for and her color job matched what I had in mind and suited me really well. She was also friendly and easy to talk to, I am not a fan of the snobby/gossipy environment some other salons can have. I've also visited Lavish for a spray tan from Stacey and she did a great job. The color was exactly what I wanted and didn't streak or look orange at all. It also lasted a long time about 10 days which is really good - normally mine are pretty much gone before a week is up. She was also very friendly and made you feel comfortable while she did the tan. read more

I don't really like the stylist keep doing "networking" with the client instead of focusing on the hair cut,but Lisa is not. She knows her stuffs and she is very professional. Was a great experience! I called to book a last minute appointment, but only a junior stylist was available! There was no issue with requesting a senior stylist, and I was booked 2 days later. I was happy to wait a couple days for the experienced stylist! Rachelle was friendly, talkative and engaging. She was gentle when washing my hair and massaged my scalp with the conditioner. I went here for a cut and color and even 2 years later, my hair is still in awful shape. I requested an all over blonde (from my natural medium blonde hair), stressing that I want it cool. My hair, at that point, was about 4 inches on the bottom of previously colored hair and about 8 inches + of my natural hair. The stylist assures me this is no problem and has me sign a waiver. The waiver should've been my first sign that this was not going to be good. My hair is bleached and as I'm getting it rinsed out, another stylist walks over and says how beautiful it looks and how great my stylist is at blonde. They debate over toner and decide I don't need it toned with a cooler toner. When I walk over to the chair I was stunned to see my hair was duckling yellow. Bright yellow. Everyone working in the salon is ooohing and aaahing over the color and I wanted to cry. It looked AWFUL. And the cut and color was about $300, so much more than it was worth. I was floored by the price. I went to my car and cried. It was so unflattering but everyone in the salon told me it was great. I had to run to Sally's the very next day to get toner so I didn't have duckling hair. I have never returned to Lavish and I would never recommend it. Every stylist I have gone to after has commented on the poor condition of the bleached part of my hair and I've spent 2 years growing out the mistake of this stylist. I see there are so many positive reviews of Lavish and I have no idea what kind of salon these people went to because I in no way had this experience. read more

I was here for a colour correction in December with Heather. She was very knowledgeable and discussed my options with me at the beginning of the appointment. Over the course of a couple of hours she took my hair from all bright red to a strawberry blonde with highlights. I was anticipating a much more difficult transition with hair that I wasn't thrilled with, but I ended up with hair that was still pretty and not too damaged. read more

I love this place! I've lived in Calgary for just over a year and I've tried a few different places and every time I walk out from getting my hair done I'm bothered by something. It can either be the price, the look, the wait time (over 30 minutes at one place...WITH a reservation), the work I have to put in afterwards....but when I left Lavish I had none of these feelings. I found this business here on yelp and I thought, "well, worst case it's just another hair salon". But let me tell you, it's NOT just another hair salon. I walked in and everything was nice, clean, modern and the people were genuinely nice...not that fake nice you get at some other places. I was welcomed by my stylist Heather Stacy, who immediately offered me something to drink. I can't remember the options because I'm a little late with this review, but there were options. Heather S. was amazing! She actually sat me down and wanted to know exactly what I wanted....I told her I wanted blonde highlights but I didn't want anything that would be "WOW, look at the blonde in your hair". I wanted people to notice I did something, but not overly obvious....maybe for people to think I got a tan, ha. She knew exactly what I was talking about and went to work. I also told her that I'm not the type of person to work on my hair in the morning; I'm more of a wash and go, maybe blow dry if I have time. Once I left and woke up the next day, the style looked the same as the day before AFTER I washed it, fantastic...looks good AND low maintenance. I went back to work a couple days later and people asked me "did you get a tan?" "Have you been out in the sun? Your hair looks lighter" PERFECT! That's EXACTLY the reaction I wanted!! Just had the best spray tan ever! Im usually very sensitive to every other type of artificial tanning such as "mystic". This left me no irritation and after the first shower I had no weird tanner smell. Taylor is very professional. Im a hard sell when it comes to spray tans and Im sold! read more

Great atmosphere for a salon -- the exact opposite of pretentious. Instead it's inviting and relaxing, and the prices reflect that friendly and accessible tone as well. They have reasonable charges for the services without compromising quality. Can't recommend Heather Foyle highly enough. She really listens to what you want, and does a great job of making it a reality. I've never had a better color...plus she's really approachable and will instantly set you at ease. I went there for a spray tan. I was told it was with Stacey. But once I arrived I think It was the receptionist that did mine. It was AWFUL. It was streaky and different colors. I looked terrible. I asked for the lightest color and It was so dark. It just made me look Dirty. This wasn't my first spray tan. I will NEVER go back there again. I went to see a certain stylist after seeing positive reviews. I wonder if she posted them herself? I was extremely disappointed with my cut. I had a picture of a blunt cut but she totally could not execute it. It was crooked at the ends and did not have sharp edges at all. Truly I usually do not complain but this haircut was so simple to execute - it was a straight bob- yet she totally and absolutely and undeniably missed the mark. She sounds like she knows hair but practically she cannot deliver. I had brought a photo so I am not sure what went wrong. It was as if she lacked basic cutting skills. I will not go back. The price is cheap but you pay for what you get. I think the hairdressers need more training and updating of skills. I can't wait until my hair grows back so I can get recut elsewhere. read more

My stylist was Heather and although she gives a great color she is not so great at cutting short hair. I find her overtly chatty and then tends to run out of time towards the end of the cut rushing it. I have left with bangs too long and around the ears not clean. If you are looking for a precision cut go elsewhere. You should not have to pay that much and then go home and cut your hair some more. read more

Was very excited this morning I was looking forward to get my hair done at lavish Saloon. After I arrived for my appointment at 11:30 am, I was speaking with the hairstylist about my cut I was informing her about the colour I wanted when she had a look of confusion on her face. She left and came back to inform me that she can either to a cut or colour today and then you can come back to do the one that you can't to today another time. As everyone when making an appointment you make them around the time you have available, we all have very busy lives you look forward to some quality time for yourself to find out oops sorry. That does not cut it. If you want to go to this Saloon you need to double check your appointment as the receptionists area not competent to book appointments themselves. The lost my business. I did not enjoy my experience at this salon. First, I had to wait 20 minutes for my already booked appointment but the staff there were really friendly so that was a bonus. I had asked for a nice shade of blonde and had shown her a picture of what I was going for. Instead, I ended up getting a nice shade of yellow. It's been 4 days since then and it's gotten worse. I don't even want to go out of my house because it's so bad. I called to try and get in again to get it fixed and I couldn't get in for another week. I'm calling different salons to try and get it fixed. There's no way I'm waiting a week to get into a salon that I wasn't happy with in the first place. read more

I booked an appointment at Lavish spa for highlights and a new cut with Nikita Rain, she had great reviews and it was my first time at this salon. I have to say that I am very disappointed with my highlights and with my new cut, I was given a business card from Nikita which said Nikita Hofer and realize that I was booked with the wrong person. I found Nikita Hofer to be an inexperienced stylist and would not recommend her. read more
