    Odi’s Kingburger - King Cheeseburger

I would give 3.5 stars, but rounding up…read more Odi's Kingburger Drive-In is off Highway 60 in Renfrew and has been around since 1973. I had been wanting to try Kingburger for years, but every time we were in the area, we were always just passing by and had to get to where we were going on a specific schedule. This past weekend we had some time and stopped on the way home. My husband and I each got a King Cheeseburger and split a large poutine. The King Burger has two beef patties, triple bun, Kingburger sauce, and fried onions. The cheeseburger just adds cheese. The patties were real, homemade beef patties. They weren't too thick or dense and were juicy. The cheese was real cheese slices and not Kraft singles. The fried onions were good, not too many and not overwhelming. The Kingburger sauce seemed mostly like a mix of ketchup and mustard and there was far too much for me - I would've liked to taste the beef more because it was really great! I was also hoping to give more burger to our little kiddo without the sauce or just minimal. The buns were nothing special, but were fresh, soft, and helped soak up the sauce. In fairness, I like light sauce, whereas my husband likes everything super saucy and he really enjoyed it. All in all, it's definitely a good burger and I might try the Super Burger next time, which also comes with back bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and subs fried onions for raw. The poutine, unfortunately, did not the have cheese curds I was craving, but the gravy was very tasty and the fries were so perfectly crispy. As a big cheese lover, dare I say that I might just order fries and gravy next time. The portion was pretty big, too. Super affordable, weekday specials, and fast and friendly service. Love a small, local, family-owned restaurant that's been around for ages. There's a patio to the side and parking, but no indoor seating and truly a drive-thru with a drive-in theatre restaurant vibe. I'll need to try one of their many milkshakes next time. They also have a "cruise night" with classic cars, which would be awesome to check out.

The burgers are amazing, milkshakes are a tad filling though. Got a kids small cotton candy milkshake, didn't finish it. Although I put the milkshake in my freezer and had cotton candy ice cream. It slaps. Service is pretty awesome. Every time I see odi himself he's always smiling. The now sign is pretty nice and they actually show the cup sizes now and nice awards, ambiance nice. A very flavourful dark gravy and a generous amount of cheese curds. For my own preferences, the fries themselves were a bit thinner than ideal - but still good. The regular cheeseburger was ok and the "Big Mac" special was a disappointment. In a nutshell, the burger patty didn't taste fresh - like a pre-frozen McPatty. I wouldn't order again. The hot dog was better than expected - mainly because the frank was decently sized. In any case, I came to the area for cable kiting and would stop by this joint again next time I visit. I'd order all poutines though... that item is a solid 4+ stars.

After spending a weekend in an isolated cabin, I was craving poutine, and boy oh boy did this place deliver. My friend and I ordered poutine, onion rings, a burger and a hot dog. The poutine was one of the best I've ever had!! Fries were golden crispy, lots of cheese curds and the gravy to die for. Mmmmm. The onion rings were also amazing, crispy and delicious. The dog and burger were good as well, but not as mind blowing as the poutine. FYI this is a pick up only kind of place. You can either call to place an order or you can go in person and it'll take 10-15 minutes.

I am originally a great fan of a good donair, living in Halifax for many years. Flavours are…read moresimilar, though could be more refined. I ordered the 1 pound donair loaded with onions, tomatoes and cheese. I wouldn't have complained about this normally, although in this case there were several factors which gave me room to start the Yelp journey. A. Given the price it was fair if it was what I received. As shown in the accompanying photos it indicates the actual donair weight without the pita (which missed the mark) was only a half pound, there was a definite lack of onions and tomatoes further illuminating the lack of sauce on the donair which actually had no cheese which I had to pay an up-charge for. B. This is not the first time this has happened and as such my sympathy for the business (although popular) is lacking due to a lack of effort by whoever was cooking. (Of note, it is Father's Day and it was very busy, though I would have preferred the proper food vs something quickly pushed to the side with lower quality.) Of note, it's a great place, though there is definite room for improvement before I can in good conscience say the food matches the ambiance. Hopefully these hiccup's can be avoided in future through better commitment to quality control. (I would have dealt with this there although I grabbed it on the way out of town and couldn't address it)
