I just bought car insurance from Mr. Ninerell. He did a top job explaining the remarkably complicated system, answered all my questions, and put together a package that I believe suits my needs.
It can be a lot of work to sign up a customer for car insurance-- a couple of phone discussions before the sale, an hour+ of face-to-face work filling out forms, plus a little follow-up support.
The other agencies I'd called all had problems. Agents who didn't know what they were doing. Quoting prices before even asking me what my needs were. Insisting that they needed my "Social" before they could give a quote. Automatically assuming I wanted the cheapest policy.
It's a tough job to do properly, tough for both customer and agent.
Note that most of agents' time and effort goes into selling the policy and getting the initial choices made and paperwork done. They don't earn a lot considering how much they have to do. But subsequent annual renewals --ah!-- require just a quick Hello-How-are-you phone call. That's when their initial investment in you the customer pays off.
