Pulaski is home…read moreof the world renowned Sun Drop Festival, and also home to other unsavory happenings back in the 1800s, but we're beyond that I'm hoping. The happenings on this day were of a more civil nature and consisted of a number of fair vendors setting up shop around the historic town square. Reeves Drugstore is housed in a string of old brick buildings that also line the square. Its charm is old school from the get-go. When I opened their front door and stepped in, it was like stepping back into my childhood. Immediately, I thought, dang, we had one of these in our downtown. In fact, three! Newberrys, Thrifty, and Woolworth. All had lunch counters, and all served up tasty food offerings just like Reeves. Reeves also has an ice cream counter. $1.75 for a scoop! If you're lucky, you'll get the young lady who scooped up ours. She packs it into the base of the cone before putting a generous scoop on top. My Butter Pecan cone was solid. There were plenty of pecans mixed in. Some in every bite. We didn't need any drugs on this visit. We were pretty high from the Sun Drop soda, Sun Drop cake, freeze-dried gummy bears, and of course, ice cream. But if you're in need of some kind of pill, tincture, or sundry, you'll be in good hands at Reeves. Quick Tip: The folks who work at Reeves are honest, hard-working townspeople. Polite as can be. If you're in need of some sincere southern hospitality, they'll give it by the bushel. Please give them your business, and reward them with a smile.

The prices are pretty good, though I didn't really find anything for myself. The place is crowded full of stuff but clean with 1 or 2 fitting rooms. It is mostly baby and kid clothes so keep that in mind. If you're interested in baby clothes with tags still attached, you'll find a good selection here mixed in with the used stuff, though you'll spend $6 + for it. Come check them out!

Taking a trip to Amish country was quite interesting. I lived in Pennsylvania for 3 months a long…read moretime ago and never saw any Amish, so this was completely new to me. We stopped at the Welcome Center but they weren't offering any wagon tours on the day we visited. So, we took a look around the shop instead. I bought a spiral wind spinner but nothing else appealed to me, mostly looked like donations. Some things were hand made but overall, it felt like it was more of a Goodwill than anything. It was cluttered and unorganized. My grandma and aunt wanted to use the restrooms on site but said they were extremely dirty and decided to use a local gas station's instead. The Amish are very nice people but there are rules. Don't take photos of them, some believe it takes their souls and others believe it expresses individualism. If you aren't Amish, be prepared to have people staring at you and the kids are not supposed to talk to anyone unless making a sale. Overall, everything was affordable and during our drive around, we purchased some peanut brittle, jams, and jarred veggies. Just bring cash, of course. It would be nice to come back and take a wagon tour but it also feels weird that our modern-day culture sees the Amish as some sort of entertainment. So, I'm very indifferent about this experience.

Not only does this store sell the great Christian books, CDs, t-shirts and DVDs that are typical of such shops, but it is also a fantastic gift store. There are plenty of unexpected gift choices available for all occasions. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit this shop, then you don't know what you are missing! You can easily spend an hour or two just browsing through the eclectic selection of merchandise. Be aware of walls plumbing and well company and make sure you get a Quote beforehand. I was having…read moretrouble with my well water tank, the water coming through my pipes to house was light brown and the pipe running to my reservoir tank was leaking. I was told by a plumber that is not license to work on wells to tell me that my tank bladder could be busted, being that he wasn't licensed to work on water well issues recommend walls well service. Up on this company's arrival, ( the son of the owner) to me that it was more than likely that the tank reservoir had a buster bladder. So he put in a new tank and wired the tank, when he rewired the tank and with no success with the new tank working, he then said it was probably the water pump had gone bad. ( keep in mind that pump was working fine prior to walls arriving) so I asked what would this cost, he said he wasn't sure because he didn't do the billing. So @ this point he said he would have to pull the pump to check the wiring and to see if it was a bad pump. He then stated that they charge 100.00 for service call and 100.00 per hour. So they pull the pump and said it was bad, ( even though it was working fine prior to their arrival) He stated that they would have to replace all the pvc pipe running from the pump or they would not warranty/Guarantee their work. After replacing with a new water tank and new pump and new pvc water pipe, it still did not work. I was outside watching and listening and keep the bees away because they were afraid of black bees, the conversation between the two employees was that he had wired the tank up wrong. That being said! I was billed 1700.00 for the first invoice, Then Week later I received a second invoice for 800.00 that they forgot to bill in the first invoice, up on viewing the two invoices. They charge me for a new tank, pump, 600 Ft of pvc pipe and countless of other items that I wasn't sure if it was items they used or not. They did charge 100.00 service call and what they said was 6hrs of work @ 100.00 per hour. I also got charged 130.00 for them using their host on their service truck, also got charged for items such as 3 roll of electric black tape and three fuses , they kept shooting the fuses because it was wired wrong too start with. I contacted the owner and his response was , at least everything is new now! What started out as a water reservoir replacement turned into a 2700.00 mistake on the sons/employee fault. It seems as if it was deliberately done too make more money. If you decide to use this unprofessional company, just make sure you get a quote. Not sure if this is a true honest company.
