Naturally in that situation, as in this one, no periodontal disease was found. My mistake was not looking at the reviews before setting an appointment. Although going to the Baltimore Dental College can be a nuisance due to the several appointments required, I'll keep going until I can find a local dentist who doesn't steal. Shameful. I am submitting my experience to MARYLAND STATE BOARD OF DENTAL EXAMINERS. I suggest to others who feel ripped off or an attempt was made go to the Maryland Dept Board of Health Dental Examiners. This is the only way to get honest dental care. https://health.maryland.gov/dental/Pages/complaints.aspx

I explained that I had already completed all the forms when I came in June, and that since this was a follow-up, they already had everything they needed. She insisted it was "policy," so I complied and submitted the forms a second time. Then I sat. For 40 minutes. No one checked in, no one followed up. When I returned to the desk to ask what was going on, the same staff member said, "Oh, you completed the form?" I couldn't believe it. I looked at her and said, "Are you telling me I've been sitting here for 40 minutes because you didn't realize I submitted the form? How long do you think it takes to fill out what you sent me? Do you not value my time at all?" And here's the worst part: At no point did anyone apologize. No one said "We're sorry," or offered an explanation. No one said, "You'll be seen right away." The attitude was indifferent at best and dismissive at worst. I've already spent over $1,200 out of pocket at this practice for two treatments, and this is how returning patients are treated? If you value your time, your money, or even basic respect, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. A dental office is not just about the doctor--it's about the people who represent them at the front desk. And this staff failed completely.

However, a recent incident showed us that when they make a mistake, they are happy to make us pay for it. We purchased a dental insurance policy for 2024 to cover anticipated costs. My husband's care was in three phases, and first two went smoothly earlier in 2024. On October 31, 2024, he had an impression taken for an occlusal guard. However, the dentist didn't send the impression to the manufacturer or file the claim in November or December while we still had dental coverage. Nor did they communicate with us about any of this until my husband finally called them. The delay led to a second impression being required in January, 2025, and my husband coming out with a bill for $1130.70 instead of the $195.30 that should have been the total charge if the claim had been filed while we had insurance in 2024. Their lack of communication was disappointing. My husband and I have spoken to three persons of authority there, including the billing and office managers, and their unwillingness to take responsibility for their negligence is unacceptable.

I did have an issue with billing, which did create extra stress for me, but ultimately it was handled to my satisfaction. After I went to the front desk at the end, the woman at the front desk (Jennifer) told me that for the adjustment of the mouth guard, I will get billed. I told her that I didn't know that, and it took Dr. Blank like 10 minutes to do. Dr. Blank should've mentioned that it could be extra and to get her to give me more specifics. I said that I'll be angry if I see some big $100+ or even a $40 bill will annoy me. She said she didn't know what it would be, but it shouldn't be very much. In early April, in the mail I got a statement from Delta Dental that it was going to be $172! Then, Dr. Blank's office sent me a bill for $132 giving a $40 discount for the adjustment, but it was still over $100, and I was pissed. On Thursday, 4/12, I called speaking with Jennifer at the front desk. She explained that I was out of network and that Delta Dental Premier was in network. I asked how come I wasn't told that in February when I scheduled. She apologized and said that it was her mistake to not investigate my health plan further. So, I ended up getting charged $40 for the mouth guard adjustment, but then got charged for the teeth cleaning & x-ray. Her advice was to look on the Delta Dental website to see what was in network. I told her that I called, and I figured I would ask if they accept Delta Dental, but she didn't realize that it was not Delta Dental Premier. In the future, I will just look on the website so that it doesn't happen again. She put me on a brief hold and came back saying that I think you will like the resolution we came up with. She said that she spoke with Dr. Blank's wife (I forgot her name, but she was really nice.), we will waive the fees because of the mix up. We will cancel your September appointment and send you a release records form to send us back once you have a new dentist picked out. Overall, Jennifer at the front desk was very nice and took some responsibility for the mix up. And while I was stressed about the bill, I liked how it was handled in the end, and also, Dr. Blank & his wife did a great job with my teeth cleaning & explaining my teeth & jaw to me. I would recommend Dr. Blank's office, but just make sure they are in your specific dental insurance you have.

First time visit. I had a (what turned out to be a partial) cleaning done by a dental hygenist…read morehere, and a cursory exam by a dentist. Not going back to this office. The first red flag as it turns out was that the office called me 3 times (including at 7 am the morning of my cleaning appt) to reschedule the time of my appointment. The first time was to move it 30 minutes earlier..OK, I agreed. The 2nd time, someone different called to move it to a later time, including offering me my original appointment time back! When I told them I had already been rescheduled, they said ok, nevermind. When they called at 7 am on the day of the appointment to re-schedule again, I just said "No". I think calling someone to re-schedule them 3 times is excessive and irritating. It also made me wonder about their internal communication within the office. The hygenist was very rushed. It was like she was trying to get as many folks in/out of her chair as possible, with no down time. She saw a crack in one of my teeth and wanted me to get an xray while I was there. I would have to move to another room to get the xray, and the room happened to be occupied. She said she would polish my teeth while we waited. However, the polisher tool was not working. She handed it to someone there and then we were told I could get my xray. After the xray I had a cursory exam with a dentist, who was an alarmist, in my opinion. Despite having no symptoms or pain, she said a 25 year old crown needed to be replaced, another tooth had a crack and I needed to see their restoration specialist (separate $500 consultation fee), and another tooth may need to be extracted. It was a very doom and gloom vibe. When I said why does my 25 year old crown need to be replaced if I am not having any symptoms, she told me they are "pro-active". After this cursory exam, there was no mention of me getting my polishing from the hygenist (and she never did the gum depth measuring thing, either). She already had another patient in her chair. I received a robo-text later from the office and mentioned how I had an incomplete cleaning and wanted to come back for the remainder of it. No response. I also left a voice mail message and never received a call back. I decided I am not going back to this office for a variety of reasons. I went to a different dentist and was told my 25 year old crown was fine..there was no lifting and he recommended not doing anything to that tooth at this time. The tooth with the crack does need a crown, and the tooth that they mentioned may need to be extracted can wait until I become symptomatic. A more conservative approach and I didn't feel like they were trying to upsell. They also took the time to explain things and weren't rushed.

Two stars because it's a friendly place. Their care also seems good. However, if you have a problem…read moreyou need to get resolved, good luck getting a call back. Dr. Tran is a nice guy, and he definitely doesn't want to cause you any pain. But I'm not sure that all the work he does is necessary. Every time I see him it seems like I need a root canal and a crown. However, I did get a second opinion at one point and the other dentist confirmed what TLC had told me. The staff is also great, and they really commit to their jobs. Unfortunately, it's not all good. One of my biggest complaints is that they never have appointments available. Sometimes I have to wait over a month for an appointment. And when I do go in, there's a lot of waiting involved. I am pretty sure they double book their appointments because after they take me back, I always wait around 20-30 minutes. Another complaint is that they do not tell you what's going on while they're doing it, what you may need to do, what your options are, or what you should do in the future. The only time you know what they're going to do is when they give you the bill. Still, Dr. Tran is a good dentist and the staff is very nice. 6/10
