I usually don't write negative reviews for companies or establishments because, ultimately, at the end of the day, the people working there are doing their best and are just trying to get through. However, my experience demonstrates systematic failures in almost all interactions with this company, as well as a genuine lack of concern about my safety, that I feel it is important to speak out.
I parked in this parking garage after the original garage I planned on parking in was closed. Nowhere did it state when this garage closed or its hours. Usually, if a garage is not 24 hours, there are large signs indicating what time it closes and/or says so on the ticket.
When we returned to the garage hours later after spending a wonderful day in the city, the garage was closed. Only then on the BUILDING itself, in small lettering that you could not see from a car itself, did we see that the garage closed at 7 pm. At this point, it's 9:30 pm. It's dark. I'm with my mom is a city with no means of transportation to get home. I see that I can call to get someone to come to open the garage for a $50 service fee, and I call to bite the bullet and own up to my mistake. I call twice, once to log that I need someone to come to open the garage and let us. They never give me a timeframe about when this will occur and in my frazzled state, I forget to ask, which is why I called back the second time. I tell the dispatcher I feel unsafe and that we are just standing outside a closed parking garage after dark. And they tell me that they are unable to give me a timeframe for when someone will even get in contact me with an estimate to get my car out of the garage, but they put my concerns into a note for the on call individual. I contact my husband to let him know and he asks me for the their number. IT IS ONLY WHEN MY HUSBAND CALLS that they give him a timeframe: 15-20 minutes. This means that they were able to tell me the entire time, but refused. They did not care that I felt uncomfortable or unsafe.
Some may say that it is my responsibility to check the hours of this garage, and that is a fair point. I should have checked the hours once I parked. However, I do feel like it is the responsibility of the garage itself to post those hours someplace where individuals can see them. A tiny sign on a building when you are driving into the garage is not going to be seen from the car itself. We also learned later that the hours are posted at the pay station, again in tiny letters. You do not go to the pay station until you are ready to leave and the hours on Google are also incorrect. So while I should have checked the hours, and have learned a lesson regarding this, across the board, the company did not do its due diligence to me as a consumer.
After we wait for 20 minutes, someone calls. I'm ecstatic because we're one step closer to getting my car. However those dreams are dashed as quickly as they start. The person on the phone tells us that they are new and they do not have a key card to open the doors. They can't help us and that we should just hang around the garage on the chance that the garage door opens. This was infuriating. They could not tell us when the garage would open the next morning and the lack of concern for our safety, yet again was astounding. This person didn't clearly knew they needed a key card when they started, and yet, he didn't have it and wasn't concerned about the fact that again, we have no place to go. They just simply tell us good luck and they hope we figure it out.
My mom and I then try to make a plan. There are ride shares in the area or we could get my husband to pick us up. After some planning, we are about to call my husband when the garage door magically opens. Someone is leaving. We stop them and tell them of our situation and it is only then, through the kindness of this stranger, that we are able to leave this building with our car. To that person, you are an angel and I cannot thank you enough for helping us in our time of need.
At every point, this company did not care about the fact that I felt unsafe and left us stranded. This company clearly is broken, ineffective, and lacks basic decency. Every person I interacted with did not do a single thing to help, even though with the lack of signage, this must be a common occurrence. This is more than about my circumstances: it is about how this company only care for profits and not for the people it is supposed to be serving. This is a terrible company and do yourself a favor and never park in their garages, or else you may find yourself in a similar position. read more
