"Get your craic on a saddle with Dublin City Bike Tours!!!"…read more Bike tours are always a great way to get the lay of the land in a city and cover as much territory as possible. I always look for cool bike tours when I visit a new country. I came across Dublin City Bike Tours in my Rick Steves Ireland travel book and once I read the glowing reviews I was sold. The tour is about 3 hours long and costs 24 euros per person (cash only!). You'll get a 4 euro discount for one rider if you bring your Rick Steves Ireland book. The bike tour group meets at Isaacs Hostel 30 minutes prior to the 10am ride. A 2pm tour is available on the weekends between May and mid-September. Bike tours run rain or shine. Rain jackets are provided by the guides in the event of rain. During the bike ride you'll visit about 20 major sights in Dublin such as: The Spire GPO on O'Connell Street River Liffey Temple Bar Neighborhood Christ Church Dublin Castle St. Patrick's Cathedral George Bernard Shaw's Birthplace Merrion Park/ Oscar Wilde Statue Grand Canal Samuel Beckett Bridge Famine Memorial The bike ride is a very easy and flat 5 mile ride. I think I only put my bike in 2nd gear once or twice during the entire ride. You'll make frequent stops to take pictures and learn about each sight so the level of difficulty is very easy for even infrequent bike riders. About half way through our tour we stopped for a pint (not included in the tour price) and our guides took the time to point out their favorite restaurants and bars in the area. I highly recommend booking a bike tour with Dublin City Bike Tours! This was one of the highlights of our trip to Dublin.

I kind of expected that in a tour, but this guy was brilliant in his ability to recall pertinent information. He was knowledgeable of industry, economics, literature and world affairs. It was truly impressive. His humble demeanor and his quick humorous wit added to his appeal. And yet he was never boring by any means. He took our group of eight on safe routes and the biking was never physically demanding. Dublin City bike tour get a my highest rating!!

He sang a song or 2 along the way but he couldn't answer any of the questions asked and barely spoke. He dropped us at stops going in blindly. He was an older gentleman, so I understand the low energy but perhaps time to hang up his hat. As first timers to Ireland, I chose the Dark Hedges/Giants Causeway/Belfast tour because I was infatuated by photos of the Dark Hedges I saw online. I had no idea it looked NOTHING like it. It was really a waste of a stop. Giants Causeway was nice.. great photo op. It's a long walk downhill, then back up. Luckily, there was a bus that operates both ways for £1 (tap cards accepted ). We heard there was opihi in Belfast and found some along the way (we're from Hawaii). Super windy that day so we were getting flown all over the rocks. Only stop on the tour that was worth it. Next stop, Belfast City Centre. The tour guy dropped us off near City Hall with absolutely no direction. He told us about a mall nearby, but that's it. Anything worth seeing was already closed. I really wished he would've gave us more recommendations about what to do, where to eat, or anything worth seeing in the short amount of time we had there. After walking around City Hall, we walked to the mall to use the bathroom, stopped at a souvenir shop, then headed back. Total waste of time, again. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND! Sadiy, I purchased the tickets for this tour after the price had gone up about €10 from their 2025 prices. Tour was also supposed to end at 8pm but we got back by 7pm because he kept rushing us. Leaving early from stops. Felt rushed the whole time. I feel it was a total waste of money that could've been used elsewhere.

On the way, we had some bus trouble, which was unfortunate, but I will certainly not blame that on Irish Day Tours. In fact, I want to give them praise for the driver's attentiveness, making sure the passengers were safe, and the company being expedient in getting a new bus out to accommodate the rest of the tour. The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most beautiful sights I have ever laid my eyes on and we were blessed with great weather on this particular day. Sunny and not too windy (our visit was at the end of February but not sure how typical this is for that time of year). I believe we were allotted 1.5-2 hours at the Cliffs which we enjoyed every minute of. The stop in Doolin for lunch was charming and I was impressed with how quickly they were able to serve us. Unfortunately, we were not able to experience Galway on our tour due to the technical difficulties but I appreciate them being mindful of the schedule. I want to give particular praise to our driver and guide Kevin, who was absolutely fantastic in not only getting us there and back safely but is full of fascinating information on Ireland's history. As we continued to learn about Ireland over the course of the rest of our trip, I found myself wanting to ask Kevin his opinion on many topics. Thank you Kevin and IDT!

The Bike Institute's location is very convenient for me as I live in Ashtown and it's fairly easy to get there. If you search for the shop on google maps, it won't take you to the right place, which was one of the things I first struggled with. But I gave them a ring and they kindly directed me to the actual location. For starters, the staff there is very friendly and were incredibly helpful. It was my first time there and I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything I didn't need or were pushy in any way. As I only own a bike and literally ride it everywhere, I dropped it off first thing in the morning and asked if I could pick it up by the end of the day and the staff member confidently told me it'd be done before that. I was pleasantly surprised, as most bike shops don't have such a fast turnover! And that was a huuuuuge PLUS for me! However, just because it's a fast turnover, don't be fooled: the quality of the service was superb. My bike is smooth as butter now. So it's safe to say I am very happy with the service they provided! It should get me through the winter and once the winter is over, you can be sure I will drop by again to get the premium service for the summer days Thank you again to all the staff for a great experience! I'm very hesitant to let anyone work on my bike, so this review should showcase my satisfaction.

We met up with our tour guide, Grace, outside of the Trinity College main gated entrance. Overall I enjoyed the tour we had. Grace was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of history of the sights we stopped at: first on the grounds of Trinity College, then through the nearby neighborhood, including Old Parliament and Temple Bar. She also took us to an area close to Temple Bar to discuss Viking settlements, which was neat! It was difficult to hear her for a good amount of the time due to the volume of traffic and the fact our group was on the larger side. I wish that the company might consider this and either make adjustments to group size, look into a portable voice amplifier, or simply have the guide speak in an "outdoor voice." Unfortunately I did not know the area and parked by timed metered parking, so we had to depart the tour early since my meter was expiring! (Oops.) I would recommend the tour, but suggest that you ensure you cozy right up to the tour guide so you don't miss out on any information!
