Prior to arriving at Bluebird Meadows, I had spoken to the owner, Donna on several occasions. I was…read moremost concerned to find a location that was close to the Coldwater Curling Club where I was to attend an event on September 10. At her request, I provided her with my visa number to hold the room. Upon arrival at Bluebird Meadows at 5 o'clock as planned, I knocked at the closed door. When Donna answered the door, she had such a look of disdain on her face that I immediately felt uncomfortable enough to ask her if I had the right place and if she was in fact a Bed and Breakfast. I started to say, "We have a reservation" but before I could finish my sentence, she interrupted with, "No, you DO NOT!" I'm sure you can imagine how shocked we were to be greeted in such a manner! Being black Canadians, my husband and I have heard of such treatment and even experienced it ourselves TWENTY YEARS AGO! This recent event has opened old wounds that we thought were long healed. I told Donna that I had booked my reservation weeks prior to which she shook her head and insisting that such could not have occurred as I would have had to provide her with a credit card number. (Inexplicably, she seemed to conclude that the requirement to possess a credit card would automatically exclude me.) I informed her that she had been provided with my visa number and sent me a confirmation email. I suggested that if she could allow me to access her computer, I would be able to show her the e-mail. She was absolutely appalled at that suggestion stating, "That would require you to come into MY HOME!" I asked her if she didn't operate a bed a breakfast. At that point, she stated that my husband and I could wait on the porch and she would see if she could find my email and she began to close the door in my face all the while stating that it would not make any difference since she had already booked out all of her rooms. I wondered how she would be searching for our reservation since we had never had the opportunity to provide her our names. I told her we would not be waiting on her porch but would be leaving. We headed for our car and as we opened the doors and got in we heard her call out after us, "Would you like a map?" We stayed in her driveway calling nearby hotels only to find that due to the university residence being under construction, students had taken over all the hotels! We had a friend staying at another B&B so we called to see if we would be permitted to get changed there and to our good fortune, there happened to be a room available at the lovely and welcoming Inn the Woods where the owners went out of their way for us. During that time, Donna had plenty of time to check her e-mail. Why didn't she? Could it be because she knew exactly who we were the minute we arrived? We ended up being late for the important function we were attending and our evening was completely ruined.

The breakfast was beautifully laid out and was delicious and well served. Just to tour this old house and see how they transformed and decorated it is just lovely to see. We were here to see Roger Hodgins at CasinoRama and decided to stay in a place more quaint and quiet place instead of the Hotel. Credit card needed to secure room, but you can pay cash. We return in mid-November (same room) and I cannot wait!

In our contract it states we can do so as long as it is six months before the scheduled date. Danny told us we could not reschedule for 2021 because he was selling his farm, later on Facebook we saw a post advertising that people call to schedule for 2021 weddings. Danny told us If COVID prevented us from being allowed to have our wedding he would refund us some of our $4,000 deposit. As we thought, we were unable to have our wedding and Danny refused to pay back any of our deposit. Be very careful if you are planning to have your wedding or hold an event here.

After that you are instructed to start on the easiest courses and work your way through. What is not disclosed is that you have to sign an additional waiver when your inside (aside from the one on arrival). The odd thing is that it is just a notebook and the student employees just ask you did you do all the other courses before attempt the most advanced course. It's pretty loosey goosey, instead of this system a stamp system should be used or a passport system because if they are using this for liability is a signature request under duress (is what I understand from my legal eagle knowledge). Considering the risk, I would say more needs to be done. The whole course are supervised and the summer hired students are trained to radio each other when a new person is going on the course. The two customer limit on platform are loosely reinforced. I did find that some of the platforms were short on the landing for the mini zipline sections. And on the course the student hires warned us it's slippery because it was wet. Perhaps add some slip grips just because you're flying in at high speed into the landing in some cases (especially when you're pretty large). Good things is that if you wanted the zipline experience you get it through the whole course. You can get away with just paying for the whole course. If you're a parent you may want to go in and just have a look how things are run before putting your kids through the track for the peace of mind. The other thing is that you also want to have a telephoto lens on your slr if you're watching from the ground or hookup your child with a go pro for the fun of watching later. Overall difficulty was intermediate. I think to level up try the course without holding on anything. This was my first time doing this. I would have preferred more physical challenges on the course. There are washrooms behind the sign in cabin. Two toilets in the female. But if you want cleaner go back to the resort. So I rated this four star for the following reason. 1. Price point is steep on a single visit, even with coupons. Season pass may be better; 2. The course liability on-site could be better, I just wonder what happened if there was an accident and if the location did enough to protect customers; 3. The course is full of student employees, surely trained well. But considering young kids on the course a few adult staff would make it feel safer. There were times when I know none if the staff we watching me because I was sloppy on the security straps-without realizing until my date warned me (thanks); 4. Washrooms are not clean on the premise of the trekking. Go to horseshoe resort.
