The Mast General Store in Downtown Hendersonville opened in August 1995 inside the historic 1905…read moreSyndicate Building, which once housed Maxwell Brown's Fancy Grocery on its lower floor and the Woodmen of the World Hall upstairs. Mast General Store did a beautiful job restoring this large, historic building, which spans from Main Street to 5th Avenue. For visitors, parking is available right on the street or at a convenient nearby lot. The store itself is on two levels. The first floor features two main rooms: one dedicated to clothing and the other packed with nostalgic candy barrels, puzzles, toys, books, home goods, personal care items (perfect if you forgot something on your trip), postcards, and gourmet foods. Upstairs houses their specialty clothing, high-quality footwear, and outdoor gear. On this trip, I was also thrilled to find that they had the specific Hurricane Helene recovery items in stock that I had previously forgotten to grab at the Original Valle Crucis store, and which their Annex location didn't carry. The staff here was exceptionally friendly and interacted with me throughout my visit. I had a great conversation with one employee as we were trying to figure out how they managed to make the novelty eyeball candies look so incredibly realistic! Another helpful employee let me know about a brand-new store opening up in Tennessee, which means I will definitely need to plan a trip to check out another one of their fantastic locations and historic buildings in the future. It is an absolute must-visit destination in Hendersonville!

It's always so fun to explore and see what is being sold. We came right around closing and they were even passing our free popcorn since they had to break down the machine - very sweet of them to share!

They look like they are stretching merchandise out on the shelves.if you look at certain items there is only maybe 2 of which shows me this covid has affected not only their business but how they order and stock the shelves. Organization is not something this store has. They had pet stuff in front and in back. Just not a good feel to the store, no one that worked there said hi or if they could help us find anything. All in management and they wonder why these stores go out of business. Its a shame, Tuesday Morning stores use to be a fun store, I use to love seeing what was different. Guess not anymore, its the second one I've been to here in North Carolina that has the same feeling to it. This one maybe because they in a mall that is almost closed down. Very sad to see!

The As Seen On TV stuff is there quite a lot. I got the lavender and it didn't grow. But it was like $3 so it didn't hurt my feelings. They have a ton of stuff for your house. Linens, dishes, pillows, bathroom stuff, kitchen appliances, storage solutions. They also have food items that are jarred, bagged, and bottled as well as candy items. Lotions and body care items. Pictures and pet items. There's a lot to look at and usually pretty good prices.

While there was a lot to look at many booths contained insensitive items that showed different cultures in an unseemly manner (AKA racist tropes). This is one of those antique malls that is literally mind blowing - being on vacation I didn't want…read moreto spend more than a hour or so here so as much as I enjoyed my visit I really didn't give it the time it deserves. The entire shop is filled with quality items that spans the history of the area and beyond, it's like going to a museum that offers everything for sale. As massive as this place is it's very clean and well organized and to ensure you have the best experience it offers clean restrooms and even a very cute snack bar on the second floor, this is a well thought out business so if you have plenty of time there's no need to rush through. The staff here is very pleasant and will help answer any questions you have but will also allow you to shop at your leisure without any constant oversight. There are so many themed booths and open areas that are filled with a wide range of collectibles and lots of memorabilia and although I didn't make a purchase today I thought the prices were very reasonable. There's plenty of parking available and once you look at the size of the building you'll be wondering how could they have enough stock to fill this place without junking it up, but they did, the top floor alone I think is over 25,000 square feet I started on the first level so I barely touched the second floor due to time constraints, this is definitely a destination...
