Usually we stay at the Madonna House, but with the recent changes we were unable to. We were delightfully surprised by the accommodations at the Auberge La Veranda. The manager is extremely helpful and helped to organize breakfast for us, coffee, and refreshments each day. The rooms are extremely well stocked and kept. From refrigerator and stove, to AC and TV, to pots and pans and silverware in the kitchenette. Each day at the Auberge La Veranda was special for our family pilgrimage because it is still walking distance from the Basilica and the staff are so welcoming and nice. We are very thankful to have found this hotel and we would stay here again very readily. please stay here if you get the chance.

We got lucky - if it wasn't for the cancellation a week before we wouldn't have had the chance to discover these great Chalets! Parking is easy! Each chalet has its own spot. Our parking spot was plowed and the walkways were shoveled. We had no issue getting our key using the code box by the front door, very cool concept! The chalet itself was warm, inviting, cozy, very clean, and the kitchen is MORE than fully equipped. I loved the towel swans; such a classy touch! The private jacuzzi inside the sheltered gazebo was super clean and simply awesome. The chalets were easy to find and the location was so quiet and tranquil. Beautiful lake view. Cool Thing #1: They have a book exchange! There are random books on a shelf. If you start to read one and enjoy it while you're there, you can take it with you when you leave the chalet; they just ask that you leave another one behind if you do. I also found a Sudoku game book by the front door! Cool Thing #2: There is a comment book that they leave on the kitchen table. Many guests have written great things in the book and it was really nice to read about their experiences at the chalet! So many positive comments. We wrote a little something in the book too, it was too much fun! We left COMPLETELY relaxed and very pleased. My Husband is not easily pleased and he was very, very happy with everything. My only two suggestions would be to provide a few extra garbage bags (especially for guests who are staying longer than one night like we did) and a few extra tea towels for dish drying would be helpful too. 100% Return-Worthy since we are already talking about our next visit. This is actually a large (and growing) complex of chalets (or log cabins) in a rustic setting about…read morean hour west of Quebec City. Some are available to buy, some are available to rent. Every building is along some type of body of water, whether it be Chute's Ford or a nearby pond. The reception building has a small store and a restaurant. If you are planning to stay here for any significant amount of time, you can get any supplies you need in nearby St-Raymond. Their website has lots of pictures of each chalet available to rent. The building in which I stayed was a 3-level cabin with 6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a fully stocked modern kitchen. It is capable of holding 19 people if all the sofa beds are used. The dining room has a table seating 12, and there is a second dining area on the lower level, which is also a family room featuring several of the sofas and a large-screen TV. An adjacent room is the game room featuring a billiard table, a poker table, and a blackjack table. A second adjacent room is a laundry room. The outside features a wrap-around porch on 3 sides. The back yard includes a patio, an outdoor hot tub, and a sauna. We were fortunate to be staying here when the fall foliage was at peak, so we got some great photos. But for all its charm, there's still a few things that could be better. WiFi, while provided, seemed to be limited as to the number of people who could be connected at any given time. Typically if someone wanted to connect, another person had to sign off. The 2 bathrooms, while full, would not really be sufficient for the full complement of 19 people. There is very little cell phone coverage here (perhaps deliberate, but each chalet has a phone). The construction of the upstairs bedrooms seems to be a little less sturdy than the rest of the building. The central wall between each set of upstairs bedrooms does not go all the way up to the pointed roof, nor does it connect "snugly" to the side wall. This lets a lot of light and sound through from one bedroom to the next. The upstairs floor boards are not tight either; I could see through the floor boards to the bedroom below. Some of the ceiling fans are not mounted soundly. When the one beneath my bedroom was on, not only did it sway back and forth, but I could feel my floor boards move, and it sounded like a pile-driver. None of these were what I would consider show-stoppers... you work around them. For me, the 1 hour drive each way to/from Quebec City became tiring, apart from the foliage. It's certainly a great and beautiful place to see rural Quebec, and it's definitely a place you can visit if you live in places like Montreal or Quebec City and are looking for a convenient getaway.
