I randomly found this place on my map of bookmarks and saw we were in the area. We decided to check…read morethe cafe out! My group and I entered and were hit with warm air as my glasses fogged up immediately. It was nice to get out of the cold for a bit. We fin a seat in the back corner and wasn't sure if it was like the USA where you order up front or if it was more of a dining experience... A worker gave us a menu, and we waited... not sure if they would come by to take our order.... So we went up to order with another worker but didn't have to pay until we were about to leave. Kind of a confusing experience. I got their Matchagato, and my boyfriend got their Affagato. The two were so cute and delicious! We definitely preferred the affogato a lot more as the coffee was really strong with the mixture of the vanilla ice cream. The matcha was good but didn't have a nice intense flavor like the coffee. We also ordered their best seller cookie: salted chocolate chip (I believe). Delicious! Lots of chocolate with the salt balancing the sweetness. Great texture as well. A cute little cafe. I see more people ordering their other matcha drinks via Google so they must be known for matcha here. They also have seasonal special drinks such as pumpkin spice latte in November/December.

Absolutely thrilled to have found another coffee shop that has matcha. The cashier was very kind…read moreand explained the difference between the matcha frappé and the Japanese iced coffee which I appreciated. There's wifi and a restroom as well as ample space. They also have cakes and cookies and from what I saw on the menu they also have breakfast. If you need a break from Bordeaux's small, Dixie cup sized coffee servings come here and get your matcha/coffee fix. I do however need to dock a whole star because the barista said I wasn't allowed to use my laptop indoors after midday even after I paid for a drink. What kind of rule is this? Newsflash: people go to coffeeshops to get work done too not just drink coffee and leave. Sorry SIP but this rule will impact your business.

There are so many great things to say about Kitchen Garden, a cozy cafe with super friendly staff…read moreturning out a small selection of beautifully-plated vegetarian dishes for lunch! My pick was the Mezze Bowl, which came with a huge variety of delicious, flavor-forward, seasonal ingredients. There was roasted eggplant (perfect for the summer), moussaka (eggplant with tomato), yellow rice mixed with lentils topped with yogurt, a dollop of labneh, a pickle spear, pickled red onions, dill, lettuce salad topped with feta, and two different types of hummus: a regular hummus topped with za'atar, and a bright pink beet hummus too! Every single element on this plate was simply spot-on in flavor, and I noticed a couple of Ottolenghi cookbooks sitting on the shelf, which I'm certain played a role in the creation of this dish! I also tried the daily special, which was a warm bowl of polenta topped with roasted eggplant, red pepper, pickled ginger, sesame seeds, cilantro, and the best part, a generous helping of shiitake mushrooms in a soy marinade. Each of these seasonal ingredients was simply delicious, and the combination of the earthy eggplant, the acidic pickled ginger, and the umami mushrooms came together perfectly with the warm polenta. The dishes here might not be cheap, but the quality was definitely worth the price!

A great variety of flavors, colors, and textures. A perfect balance of savory and sweet. There was an option for vegan yogurt and vegan tofu scramble for those who prefer vegan diet instead of vegetarian. If you're vegan or vegetarian, don't miss this place. It was one of our favorite restaurants during our short trip to Bordeaux!
