You walk into a beautiful venue that is almost whimsical. I love the white table cloths and the beautiful table setting. Reminds me of the European restaurants. Service was great. Wait staff were attentive. There were 22 in our party. We had the 3 course meal. The soup was excellent but my main course (salmon) was just ok. Looking back, I should have ordered ala cart. My niece ordered fried chicken and I was so jealous because it looked so good. I would go back for the ambiance but prefer their sister restaurant at the Forest lodge. read more

This is now our second time coming here. We were here a couple weeks ago and then today and essentially had the same experience. Both dining experiences were essentially the same so it does not appear to be an anomaly. A couple weeks ago when we came, we sat in the large outdoor area. We sat down at the table and we were seated at least 10 minutes and server after server walked past, carrying water pitchers, walking here and there and not one offered water. I finally stopped someone to ask for water. The next thing was waiting for someone to take our order. Again, we appeared to be invisible. There were 3-4 servers just standing 15 feet away from us at what looked to be a gathering spot for the servers. They were looking around but really doing nothing. I asked my wife if she could see me, as apparently no one else could. I finally raised my hand to get someone's attention and a young lady walked over and I asked her if there was a server for our table and she said yes, it was her! She took our order and after a period of time the food came. She sat the food down and walked away and returned to her "post" and was again looking around. I raised my hand again and she came over and I asked if we get forks and spoons with our food. She went back to her post and returned back with silverware. The rest of the meal I watched and it was clear some if the servers had no idea how to service a table. No other refill of water. It was just a very odd experience. And this evening we decided to sit inside where there was a band performing. Tables were full and eventually a table opened up. It was a larger table and we were only two and the gentleman said he would seat us there but if a larger group came or another table opened up he would move us, which was fine. He partially cleaned the table and then left. Another 5-10 minutes went by and he came back by and asked if we ordered and we said no one had come to take the order. There are not so many tables in that room and there were, I believe 4 servers+. He took our order and cleaned off the rest of the table. I watched other diners trying to flag down a server to take there order, one table that had asked twice for someone to take their order. He was just shaking his head. Before iur food came we saw a table open up and we moved as it was closer to the band. There were dirty plates and glasses, and bottles on the table. Suddenly our food came and I told the guy bringing the food we had moved to just bring it to the new table. He sat it down and walked away. We tried to flag somebody down to clean the table and again seemed to be invisible. I asked the hostess to send someone and finally after about 5 minutes a young lady came to remove the items, not realizing part of the items on the table we were eating. The food in the restaurant is good, but honestly the service is horrendous. It is as if no one understands at all what the job is. As if someone put a uniform on them and didn't tell them anything about the job. We are staying in the hotel for two nights but we will not be dining here again. For the loftiness of this venue, I am truly shocked. And I am not alone...saw other diners having the same experience. I truly hope someone cares enough to look into this. If the hotel guests were not a captive audience, as a stand-alone restaurant, I don't think they would stay in business. read more

Worth it!!! First time I've been to this restaurant and will definitely not be the last. Where to start? Receptionist is very nice and friendly. I guess I got lucky and got seated before the crowd starts coming it. Reservations are not required but I suggest that you do since the restaurant is really good. Menu has good options. Prices are from moderate to high. But definitely worth it. They start you with water and warm bread and butter. The staff are helping each other, so if you need something you don't have to look for your server. I came here during the holidays so they still have awesome decorations and shows. I'll definitely recommend this restaurant to all friends. read more

We came to dine at Le Chef while staying at the Manor. It was a fine dining restaurant without requiring the patrons to dress up :) They had a variety of western and Asian dishes in the menu. For a pricey and fancy restaurant, such as this, I had high expectations. The beef was not tender, which was a bit of a disappointment. There was nothing special about the dishes they served. I liked the setup. It's very fancy. I particularly liked the tent, flowers and lighting. I had better meals outside of the Manor. But appreciate the convenience and the variety of food: main course and dessert. read more

Fine dining at an affordable price! Juices are freshly squeezed and tasty! Food came out surprisingly fast during lunchtime and outside seating was covered with a nice breeze that comes through. Food was fantastically flavored and the manor steak was cooked perfectly. The only downside was the steak was small (7oz), which is much smaller than what I'm accustomed to ordering. Everything else was tasty though, and I wish I didn't eat so much because the cheesecakes for dessert looked delightful! read more

My rating is just based on the food that I had and the service. Place is rustic hardwood, nice ad clean. Hostess greeted us. I had their 4 course pre-fixe menu, which is about P1600. It came with a salad and a soup in a small portion, and it was okay. I had the Angus beef on top of a bed of spagettini, I ordered medium rare, and what I got was medium close to well-done steak. Tough meat and greasy. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the food for its price l, I'd rather go eat in an all you can eat buffet. read more

We ate at Le Chef several times during our stay. We liked the breakfast meal the most. They have a good selection of both Western and Filipino choices. My only wish they had more fruit choices. Their lunch and dinners are also very good. They don't have a lot of Filipino food options. And at time don't have the choice available. But there are plenty of other options and most of them are well done. Service is excellent. Food area is clean and decor beautiful. We enjoyed our time here and will come back whenever we are in the hotel again. Recommended! read more

We had a seating time at 6:30pm and we had placed our order at 6:45pm/6:50pm the latest, but our food had still not arrive even after an hour of waiting. It wasn't until we had asked two of the servers to follow up on the order that our food came out around 8pm. My cousin had ordered soup and salad, and that was the last two items to come out. My mom and aunt both ordered the halibut with the penne pomodoro, and both were undercooked; borderline raw. The fish was smelly and slimy and not hot to touch. In addition, throughout our dining experience, we had to ask for bread plates as we were eating bread and placing it on the table cloth. Two out of the five of those who ordered steak were missing steak knives, and we had to keep asking for refills on water. I am visiting from California and this was my first time staying at Camp John Hay. As a highly talked about hotel and with good reviews, I had high expectation of what my experience would be here. My favorite place here in Baguio. If i am craving for american food or steak that is cooked perfectly, then this is the place to go. Service and food very comparable to the resto we frequent in the US. We have tried their buffet and chef's menu and they were both exceptional. You can also visit their garden whenever you are done eating or take your time to lounge, place has a good ambience and they always change the theme of the place depending on the season. You can also hang out by their piano bar during weekends to listen to their artists. Love this place! read more

The default place to go to when you are booked at the Manor in Camp John Hay. Known for its French cuisine by Chef Billy King, I went straight for the French Onion soup and the Steak and Prawn. The food was good bit not the best I've tried. The taste not as rich for the soup. The steak was tender enough to cut with a butter knife. (They forgot to serve steak knives). My dad ordered the aged usda angus steak that is what I would recommend. Service needs improvement also read more
