I've been attending for a few months now and moved up to intermediate classes. It's always intimidating to try something new but all of the instructors and fellow dancers are so warm and welcoming. It's an incredible community to be a part of. On top of that, they offer monthly socials and recommend weekly dance spots like The Red Room and Jazz Kitchen to practice what you've learned in class and also expand your skills! I can't speak highly enough of this place. If you're on the fence, just give it a try! You won't regret it.

Hip hop classes, yes please!…read more One of the most legit hip hop teachers in the city, Fonzie, made the class fun and interactive. The class itself is an hour and fairly low-key - just pure fun. Everyone learns new moves for the first 20 minutes of class, learn a dance, and then do it in groups of two with Fonzie. Only $10 a class. Music: Loved it. Lots of Chris Brown and Bruno Mars. The class can also request songs for choreography each week. Studio: Spacious and modern, the studio boasts a huge mirror, exterior seating, and a huge dance floor. It's a bit hispanic too and made me want to take a salsa class later too. Location: The building is on the corner of Michigan and Capitol, but the door is a bit hidden and is located on Capitol. Look for the Riolo Dance logo printed on the door, walk in, and take the elevator to the second floor.

During quarantine, he is leading classes over Zoom (aka Zoomba, get it?) and I highly recommend them for people of any skill/experience level who want to get their heart pumping and forget they're even working out. The dances are perfect, just challenging enough - not super easy, but after a few classes you'll start to have the routines memorized. I haven't taken his other classes yet at Riolo but look forward to one day as I have heard great things! If you like zumba-style classes then you know it's all about having a great instructor. Once you find one you love, it becomes the best part of your day and you never want to miss a class. That is Xavier to so many people in Indy! I signed my daughter up for a trial class back in April and never was told to try to sign up for…read moreanother trial class again in the summer because the spring course was already halfway through. So I called to schedule the trial for this past Monday (20$). We got to the class about 10 minutes early as the employee on the phone stated that they would give me a tour. We got there and the girl at the front desk seemed clueless and really wasn't helpful at answering any questions. Then, two teachers came out at the same time for two different classes, which made it very confusing for the amount of adults and children that were in the waiting area. As we did not get a tour, I was unaware that there was no seating area for the parents to watch their children as my child is just about to turn three and was in the 3 to 4 year-old moving class. So, they all lined up at the entry door and started marching towards the classroom. At that point I realize that parents were not allowed and children began yelling and crying, and my daughter got very nervous. So I then followed them to the room where they closed the door and there was kids left crying on the floor and teachers, grabbing children to carry them back into the room. Me and another mom were not happy about this experience as it was not presented to us before we signed our children up for this class. They need to better prepare the parents that this class the children have to go in alone for 45 minutes without seeing their parents. I then proceeded to go down the hallway to take a peek through the blackout glass to see how my daughter was doing and got told by one of the ladies working there that I needed to leave because the children can see me. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to leave when my daughter is nervous and there are girl crying on the floor for their moms. Plus, she was not prepared that she would be without me for this class. So, 45 min later, the children walked out and we were not told anything about the class. My daughter came out and started crying. How do you expect a three year-old to tell you whether or not they enjoy the class and what they did? So, my husband went up to the front desk and asked questions as to if the teacher had any feedback or what the next steps were and again the front desk was clueless and had nothing to. I feel as though this experience was very unwelcoming and unprofessional, and I will not be going back nor do I recommend children ages 3 to 5 to come here.

It would be nearly impossible to not love what Dance Kaleidoscope adds to the city of Indianapolis…read more I was in their offices this past weekend for another event. It was an opportunity to reflect on my own experiences with them (and to ask myself why I'd never reviewed them). Longtime Artistic Director David Hochoy retired in 2022-23, a season which was also the organization's 50th. They are one of the Midwest's longest-performing professional dance companies. Now under the leadership of Joshua Blake Carter, Dance Kaleidoscope presents four unique mainstage performances in Indy each year. They're a very accessible group. They participate in the Access Pass Program. This allows people to experience dance with $5 tickets and even dance classes at a discounted rate. They are also known for partnering with a variety of non-profits from Damien Center to the Children's Museum to Ballet Hispanico to quite a few others. In 2019, they located inside the Factory Arts District. They offer 34 weekly classes to over 200 students. They also share their studio with other groups (including Indy Film Fest). As a wheelchair user, I've always been pretty in awe of dance. I absolutely adore Dance Kaleidoscope, and I adore what they contribute to this community. Factory Arts is really the ideal location for them. Schrott Center and the Toby at Newfields seem to be two of their favorite places to perform here in Indy. If you've never checked out Dance Kaleidoscope, I highly recommend it.

Affordable if you aren't looking for much and don't mind saying no all the time to the extras and push to be on the dance teams to meet "goals" and "potential" as they say a lot. Teachers are all over the place... very few Ok core faculty then it's random college students and people who dance on the side sold as "experts" from NY to LA...but almost everyone is local from Indy area....which I guess is technically between NY and LA lol.

I have a lot to say about this place. Some of my grandkids have gone here for years and I've always…read morebeen less than impressed with the skill level of dancers, but figured it's fun and good for their development. After this recent recital and speaking to some teachers and the owner backstage, I feel I have finally had enough and want to give my 2 cents. Especially in the context of finding out what is being paid to this studio for a sub par product. Daughter is essentially paying a second mortgage with all direct and indirect costs considered and still asked to volunteer time for the studio. The owner and a younger instructor told me at the recital that my granddaughter has a "future in dance" and can go "pro". Turn around and they are giving another eager parent the SAME spiel. They constantly talk with hopeful parents and impressionable children about being pro, getting to the next "level"/competition team, and their need for more and more classes to make these levels or not let their skills "deteriorate". These are all seemingly tactics to make more money because they want you to take dance year round and more of it to get to these levels and teams. You absolutely will make the team if you are old enough and you follow their prescription of more classes for long enough-I saw it first hand with one of mine. It's more pay-to-play than skill and the end product shows this. The competitions also feel very pay-to-play in recent years, compared to when my daughter did them, with all the participation awards given to nearly every dancer-but that is not wishes run, just vehemently encouraged by them. The steady stream of confusing awards keeps customers coming back and keep girls on their competition teams. The grand kids are there 5-6 days a week most weeks and are exhausted all for a sub par product. They are not involved in extra curricular activities at school or really anything else because they've been convinced by teachers it would detract from dance. The families are also asked to volunteer like it's a school field trip or charity event. Some parents even work at the studio part time for "discounts" per my daughter and they also have the older girls teaching the younger ones their recital dances and I see them assisting on stage. Im told by my girls they aren't compensated or rewarded in any way-it's just an expectation. It's a pyramid scheme that rewards you for loyalty (also see: trophy where they engrave your name after 5,10, etc years of dance). I am supportive of their dance and have always supported my daughters and their children, but I also have a unique perspective of having simultaneous experience with a few studios in the area and Indy. Trust me, there are better studios with less staff turnover that produce more skilled dancers without the significant cost and time demanded by Wishes. P.S. My wife said something I thought was a great metaphor-it feels like those model scouts in the mall back in the 90s where they convinced a kid they had a modeling career waiting, but only if you took their internal modeling classes and paid for headshots through them.
