Besides the fact it was a perfectly beautiful sunny day, this was not worth the gas to drive here, much less the $7 each to get in. It is definitely not a lake, but a decent size pond. You are not allowed past thigh deep in the water unless you pay an extra $10 an hour to do the obstacle course. Also, parking is not clearly marked. Small kids did seem to have a good time, so it might be worthwhile for families with little ones. Since Fishers residents get in free, it might also be a good dunning spot for you. They do allow outside food and coolers, if you want to pack a lunch, and offer coolers with drinks for sale at an inflated price. If you do decide to go, make sure to fill out the waver online ahead of time. read more

I went by my self to try this place before I brought any grandkids. 1 + is that you are allowed to bring in outside food coolers and toys of floaties basically all the stuff that you would want to bring with you and I do suggest you do so. I asked if there was a place where they do sell drinks and snacks and I was told they do over by the Porta Potty but I really didn't see anywhere that these items were being sold Maybe there was someone back in the kayak shed they had those things available but I would just recommend you bring your own. They only have porta potty available which I personally not a fan of. The Sandy Beach area where I was laying had so many bees and wasps. I happen to have some bug spray in my bag so sprayed myself and the area where I was laying at and my towels in an effort to keep them away. Worked for short amount of time. The sand is very hard and uncomfortable. Bring chairs. It's $7 per person to get in if you're not a fisher's resident if your Fisher's resident it's free and probably more affordable if you have the group of kids because it is $10 extra for an hour of the kayak use and $10 extra to go beyond the roped area probably because they have this inflated play area that's tethered outside that roped area. They have a lifeguard on duty. Fill out the waiver before you go. If you have the money and bring your own food and drinks it could be a nice little outing for the family. If your not a resident of fishers though I'm sure there are more enjoyable options for $7, $10 or $27 per person. Also be prepared to bring cartloads to be able to enjoy or be comfortable. read more

All I really wanted to do on my quarantine birthday was lay out on a beach with a cold beverage and my current favorite podcast. Living in central Indiana adds a layer of complexity to that pipe dream, however. I didn't know of any options other than a 2.5 hour drive to Lake Michigan. Until this weekend! Saxony Lake and Beach is right off Olio Road right near the I-69 interchange. The beach itself is tiny (quaint) but clean. I was there for about three hours before the storm rolled in and really enjoyed my me-time. Please be sure to fill out the online waiver for everyone in your party before you arrive. That way you don't hold up the line to get in. I didn't know there was an online waiver, so I was "that girl." Current admission price is $5 for non-Fishers residents. If you live in Fishers, it's free! You're allowed to bring food/drink (coolers) into the beach for your stay. Just be sure to put all your trash in the trashcans to keep the beach clean. You can also bring pool floats and noodles for playing in the lake. Saxony Beach has lifeguards on staff and they blow whistles periodically to clear everyone out of the water for a quick break, just like at a public pool. Also, please be aware that there's no shade on the beach. So wear your sunscreen, bring a coverup shirt, and or pack an umbrella if you will need some shade. There is a shack on one side of the beach that houses Freedom Kayak rentals where folks can rent different sized kayaks, paddle boards, and pedal boats at an hourly rate. I'm not sure how much that is yet, but will check it out next time I go. It's a separate business apart from the Saxony Beach. I'm happy to know this is here and not far from our house if we need a beach fix in a pinch before it's safe to travel south again. read more

Quaint little beach that's great for kids and adults. There is almost an unspoken rule that adults with kids stay on one side to go nuts while the other side has lounging teenagers, book-reading adults, and solo sunbathers. The toilet situation is a porta potty but fear not, beach goer -- they're super clean and clearly well maintained. They even had hand sanitizer wipe packs to make it a bit better. Be warned, however, that there is no coverage from the sun on the beach, so you'll need to bring a beach umbrella or beach tent if you want your kids to be able to have some reprieve from the sun's rays. It's $1 per person for non-fishers residents and free for Fishers folks. I fully intend on coming back! read more

This is a great little beach /clean pond My kids love this place. We have been many times. I suggest getting early to get a good spot and leaving around 3. It seemed like riffraff came around that time frame. I was quite surprised/upset by the THC vape smoking. Even families in the parking lot with their children in the car inhaling it. People need to have some respect and remember that people can smell it and don't want to be around it. I don't want my children around it!! However this place is pretty fantastic till 3pm For my family & I we will go early and leave early We won't let others ruin our little jewel of a beach !! read more

You know this is a really big retention pond. When it rains all the water run off from the roads, ground, parking lots flows in. So oil, trash, pet waste and anything else washed in is what you are swimming with. Road salt and pesticides are in the mix. Other than a few pumps the stir up the water, the site is basically stagnant water. The concentrations of chemicals are unknown and I'd really wish they would post the water quality. If there is a fuel spill or leaking radiator in the surrounding area those products end up in the water eventually. I'm not telling you to avoid the place but you need to understand that this site is a retention pond first and a recreation site second. read more

The beach is a fun, friendly, family environment. It certainly is a welcoming place to be. All the people on the beach are happy to be enjoying themselves hanging out with friends and family. Also the lifeguards are very alert and professional and take their jobs seriously. I feel safe that my family is carefully watched over with the lifeguards present. read more

Overall I experience with the beach was positive. It was a lot smaller than I expected. For now residence it is $5 per person. You do get a wristband to mark if you have paid the fee. And they do ask for ID. There was plenty of parking. Definitely perfect for small families. During the solo trip I was able to get a good spot to sunbathe and enjoy the water. The sand was actually pretty soft and the water levels were good. This lake was definitely the best-kept secret until later on in a day when larger crowd started to come in on a hot day. For the most part, parents keep a good track of their children. However, as the day went on, this is not the case. So I would say once you come early and maybe leave around 3 p.m. to get a good experience. The water was clean. There was no seagulls or birds, so you can eat in peace. However, when I said at the shore I did notice something kept hitting my leg. At first, I thought this was seaweed or twigs. However, I noticed that this is actually little fishies! You can see the little fishies come up to the shore which might be fun for kids but a little interesting for me. They didn't bite or anything. Also, there's no food around the lake, so please pack their own goodies. I plan to spend more Sundays here, for sure! read more

Okay, it's not the ocean. It is a nice city park beach. As such, it has all of the necessary amenities, except maybe a hot dog stand. Lifeguards are competent. Attendants check you in to ensure users are city residents. Beach is groomed regularly and is always clean. Sand is coarse, more like fine gravel and tough on hands for hand digging (bring sand tools). All the same, my granddaughter & I dug a huge hole and built sand castles. We also managed to swim a bit. A nice respite in the middle of town with good parking and an ice cream truck circulating. Bathrooms in pavilion appear to be still a work in progress, but promise to be very nice. read more

It is a nice beach and I enjoyed it but, around 5pm-6 couples of teenage boys where horse playing in the water. A guy (their friend who was wearing a blond wig, a shirt with lifeguard written on itpretending to be a life gaurd) told them to stop. He ran into the water to drag them out and the boy started to throw him around. The actual life gaurd just sat on her chair and just said "stop." When they got out the fake life gaurd fell on the ground and looked like the boys started to kick them. Where my Fiance and I were we couldn't tell he was a fake life gaurd. My fiance ran over to help since the real life gaurd were doing nothing. They FINALLY came to stop and that's when we learned it was prank. The boys were allowed to stay. Some left while one swam past the out of boundary are. The life gaurd just yelled to stop. I dont care if the workers knew this was a prank, but they were young kids there and they should've kicked them out. The fake life gaurd had a megaphone. They were also filming the whole thing. Only my Fiance and a guest at the beach stepped in. A lifeguard did eventually came but just stood there. My fiance left at the point. read more

I'm not super impressed. This is a Man made beach in the middle of the city. There are bathrooms nearby an area to change. It wasn't very crowded and there are food places nearby. Obviously, since the Beach is man-made, Santa seems trampled and old. The cost for out of area residents was reasonable. We plan on Giving it another try soon. read more

don't waste your time driving here if you aren't a fishers resident. It's free to fishers residents but 5 dollars PER PERSON if not. It's basically a retention pond with muddy dirt/sand on the side. No bathroom facilities, only port-a-potty's. The fish will nibble on your legs & ive seen them bite people as well, and past ankle depth you can't see your feet because the water is so muddy. This was my second time going and was equally as disappointed both times I went. Not worth a far drive or the cost, we left after 20 minutes. read more

It's the funniest thing. A beach in a commercial/residential development with the faint sounds of an interstate. Yet.... it's sand and water and FREE! Because of the proximity to my house, the cost, and my low expectations for it, I'm giving Saxony Beach 3 stars. If you're looking for more than this, you'll be disappointed. There are no bathrooms, only two por-ti-lets and no where to rinse off before getting in your car. But, it's easy to access and good for a couple hours. The 12-year-olds I took today had a great time and were among the oldest kids there. Probably better for little ones. read more

For a quick get away to relax by the water this is the perfect spot. Located in an residential area there is plenty of water and sand to enjoy the day. There are also paddle boats, canoes and paddle boards. The only drawback is that there is no indoor restroom on site. Bring your coolers, blankets and inflatables and have a good time. read more

It's just like being up in northern Michigan on the lake minus the long drive! The high end apartments on site make you feel like you are in a resort community. I just wish they would open the club house bathrooms to the public and stay open everyday in August. Great for a staycation, but only open for a limited time.
