Chocolate cube croissant- 5/10, dense pastry but nice chocolate topping
Liz J.

I've been continuing my list of viral pastries this week and finally went to get the cube croissant. The special at the moment is pistachio but I was in more of a chocolate mood. Honestly it was just ok. It's viral because of its shape and nothing more. The flavour was nice but the pastry wasn't very soft and flaky as a croissant should be. On top of it, there was terrible communication among the staff who told me to come back at 10am for the cubes, then at 10:05 told me 15-20 mins, only for them to come out right after and me be at the back of the queue again. They vary in price from around £7 to £10 for the special, which given the atmosphere and wait time I had is way too high. Save your money and try some others I've reviewed. Also I assume it was a manager but the way he was talking to the other staff members and shoving fresh trays at them to display was very unnecessary and gave off a really bad impression of what it must be like to work there. One employee simply asked in the other till was working and he just looked at her and said "I don't know" and didn't do anything. I'm not surprised the customer service wasn't great if that's who they have to deal with as senior staff. Yes my job means my standards are high but as an executive I would NEVER treat my team disrespectfully. Definitely made the whole experience negative. Another employee also laughed at the family in front of me when they said they just came for the cubes, which was unnecessary as presumably at this point they know people are only coming for them. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Oh what a find! Oh yes, oh yes! I was brought here by a friend recently and ohmigosh, I wish I'd found this place earlier. 1) The breads are amazing. Whether it's the baguette or the cheese twists -- yes! (First, I love bread to begin with... but this bread is out of this world.) They also have a robust selection of cakes. I greatly enjoyed a chocolate mousse-type that I had. The small size is great for splitting, or for enjoying on two occasions. (Note: I also tried the cake of the day, which was a chocolate-based cake, but it was a little on the sweet side.) I'd love to go back for a proper dine in breakfast or sandwich in the future. 2022: 111/100

Definitely my go to sandwich place. It's a touch out of the way. But good things always come at a cost. This cost, I am willing to pay.

Oh my goodness! This place exceeded expectations. French deli, Super cute, awesome ambience, decorated very fine and tastefully. I had a delicious breakfast: eggs, avocado, bacon, and sourdough toast for under £6.50! Smack in the middle of central London, just across the street from Green Park. They have so much variety in their menu. They also sell a great assortment of fruit preserves, pâté, chocolates and other delicacies. It has a boulangerie counter with fresh bread, coffee and pastries , a patisserie counter and a tea counter. They also had Wifi and clean bathrooms (which is rare in this area). My only complaint is that the music, although tasteful and in keeping with the atmosphere, was a little too loud. Don't be intimidated by the upscale setting, the menu is very affordable. Next time I am going to try their brioche French toast, they looked to die for

Larger French cafe with tons of options to eat, drink. Lively spot with a good amount of seating. Got the cube croissant, there was only one left so clearly it's good! Got the vanilla and it was a perfect level of sweetness, very custard like!

Came here for the famed cube croissant - was almost really sad that I had missed out. Arrived around 10am on a Wednesday and they did not have the cubes. So, opted for some adorable mini versions of their breads (mini croissant, mini brioche, and mini chocolate croissant) and a flat white. As I was eating, saw someone with a fresh cube and learned they had just been put out. Fresh batch or first of the day, unclear. But either way, quickly snagged one and a line quickly formed. It will run you just under 7GBP per cube. I got the vanilla cube, magically stuffed with vanilla cream. It was a delightful dessert (or in my case, breakfast) paired with coffee. Is it the best croissant I've ever had? No. But this one is for the aesthetics, plus given how pretty it is is tastes quite good as well.

Here's what you need to know: The food is really good for the pastry (but OK for the sandwiches and Savories) and the ambiance and location are terrific. We enjoyed absolutely fantastic customer service from Denise. the cortado (espresso with foam) was prepared to perfection using a really nice roast of beans. The croissant cubes are fantastic : we thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate (terrific valrohna chocolate) and the vanilla cube. The dark chocolate mousse cake was outstanding too. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit for an afternoon espresso and pastry, especially if you're in the green park neighborhood. Overall,

The pistachio cube croissant is good but not met my expectation. The environment is very good.

Elegant Cafe for coffee, lovely french pastries and small bites. Services all day: breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks. Salads, sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie plus baked goods. Croque monsieur was superb if small. Light pocket bread, fine cheese and especially savory ham, lightly dressed salad. Chaussons aux Pommes (French Apple Turnovers) have more crust than filling. A lovely respite across from Green park.

The food was impeccable. This is deli style where the food is precooked and you ask for a main course and 1 or 2 sides. I enjoyed the Lasagne and Greek salad. Great lunch. Busy at lunch time. Limited seating some large group or 6 or more

After seeing the Cubed Croissants on Instagram/TikTok, I had to go here and I am SO happy I did!!! (so were my husband and our friends). Of course I had to try each flavor which were Chocolate with Chocolate custard, Vanilla with Vanilla Custard and Matcha with Matcha/Raspberry custard. WOW WOW WOW! I was such a happy camper! I have to tell you that I have NEVER been a fan of Matcha but I would go back for this again and again! The pairing with the raspberry couli is fabulous! And the Chocolate- holy wowza! It was a tie between those two for me. I didn't find the Vanilla very flavorful; however, it was my husband's favorite. Go figure. Little do you know but I am Chocoholic so no one was surprised. Our friend is Vegan so she opted for a sandwich which was delicious. The deli area is an entirely different counter and the prepared salads looked outstanding. We would go back for those! Oh, and my cappuccino was perfect!

They have so many options and everything is great. Even though it was super busy the workers were very nice and helpful.

One of the reasons I deducted one star is because one of the female cashiers came off as being rude. She said, "If you want a bag, you should've said so" with so much spite. What in the world was going on in her life that she had to take it out on a customer? Meanwhile, on the other spectrum, her coworkers went out of their way trying to help me find shelf stable milk since my hotel didn't have a fridge. So pros: convenient, helps save some money, some of the employees go out of their way to be helpful. Cons: At least one female cashier needs to be spoken to by management about how she talks to customers.

Having every option of meal deal sandwich available may have been a first for me, and they just released the limited edition holiday specialties yum yum yum! The US really needs to get onboard with this prepacked sandwich/wrap/sub/salad/pasta (that are relatively healthy) plus a snack and beverage for $5. It was very busy inside with what I imagine was mostly the regular weekday comminutors. There are many self-checkouts so the line went fast. Advice for visitors: like the vast majority of stores in the UK, make sure you bring your own bag or you will be charged for one.

Their focus here is clearly on apartment ("flat" in Brit-speak) dwellers who have limited kitchen space and limited storage. Large selection of pre-made "heat-and-eat" items, ranging from a full Indian meal with starters, mains and sides to whole roasted chickens. This Sainsbury's has a solid produce section with all the major items and the veggies all looked quite fresh. Sandwiches and salads and drinks and chips all up on display for a quick grab-and-go. The staff were lovely and would help with anything, I'm not used to this Sainsbury's as it was my first time coming but I know for sure I will be coming back. Staff actually have a clue what they are doing unlike some other Sainsbury branches. This shop has everything and I would shop here everyday if I could. I have medically diagnosed social anxiety and don't go out a lot, but you could approach staff slowly and speak to them as little as you want and they still would know exactly what you need. Overall if I could I would give this place infinity stars.

Naturally, I threw in the bin the leaking boxes of soups and inedible broken biscuits and soaking wet Cantal cheese. I then proceeded to contact their customer service to ask for a refund. The day after, they responded to inform me that to receive a refund, I would have to send back the damaged items. I am not in the mood to dig through my bin, and pack leading boxed of soup and biscuits crumbs in plastic bags to avoid causing a mess to DPD drivers. After this, they've asked for more pictures, but the items are now in the building communal bin and for basic hygiene and health and safety reasons, it is not reasonable to ask me to find which bin bag was mine, open it, and locate the products. So I guess all I can do is strongly recommend AGAINST this shop and its extremely poor customer service. (FrenchClick takes ages to deliver but at least, the food from there arrives in decent conditions.) Update: contrary to what their response says, they did not offer to send any replacement in their original email. Update 2: to send replacement, they want me to ship them the damaged items, ie they're asking me to book a DPD delivery for a bin bag. I cannot believe it. Especially since I already put the bin bag in the building communal bin. Update 3: After calling me 3 times in 6 minutes and sending me one email, which I responded to, they're still refusing to find a solution. I informed them that the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says that services must be provided with reasonable care and skill, and in my opinion, they did not use reasonable care and skill when they provided this service. This is unfortunate, but to ensure this doesn't happen to someone else after me, I reported the business to Trading Standards.

Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

The family and I were vacationing in South Kensington and this store was ideally located. It's a grocery store that has all the essentials... and more. And by "more", I mean seemingly random stuff like an aisle of non-branded shirts... and a convenience station which apparently provides shoe repair? Item selection for things (particularly vegetables and fruits) seems a little sparse. But admittedly I'm a tourist so perhaps that's expected for the area, climate, and time of year. Checkout is slightly disorganized (again, probably a "tourist ignorance" thing). Recyclable bags are available for pickup on a rail while walking through self-checkout. There's an automated gate that requires a receipt barcode to be scanned before exit is permitted. Ultimately I think this is a store that's 90% grocery store and 10% variety store. Nothing wrong with that but it was just a little surprising.
