One of the best diing experiences we had in Brussels! The food was great and the service was outstanding. Huge shoutout to Julian! He reminded us of a combination of Neil Fak (from The Bear) and Lazlow (from What We Do in the Shadows). He was coordinating the line, seating, and gave outstanding recommendations, as well as praise, when we picked our wine. We were quoted about 45 minutes to wait, as they don't take reservations. A two-top opened up inside and Julian was concerned that it would be too hot, so he made me go inside to check first. Thankfully, it was right by the open area leading to outside, so we took it and were seated in about 20 minutes, rather than 45. The place was packed the entire time we were there; its reputation certainly precedes it. Good energy and beautifully decorated with stunning art inside. Carbonades a la Biere (beef stew; 19.45 Euros) is their speciality and was delicious! So reasonably priced for the flavor and te size of the dish! After Julian mentioned that the lamb is the best dish on the menu, there was no question that I was ordering it. Jarret d'Agneau Roti (Roasted Lamb Shank; 27.35 Euros) was so very good! Full of Rosemary and so tender! As Julian was running by, I quickly asked him: "Tiramisu or Tarte Tatin?" No hesitation, he replied, "Tarte Tatin." I wasn't sure if he actually put the order in for us or not, but then it arrived at our table and it was delicious! Pear Tarte (8.65 Euros) with a side of ice cream. If you want to try Belgian food with reasonable prices then this was one good option in Brussels. I arrived early for Friday night dinner and the restaurant was just over half full with lots of available seating. While the register states No Cards one of the servers told the table next to mine not worry when they didn't have enough euros. Only a drink menu was provided and the dishes being served that day were handwritten on moveable boards or posted on the wall. I had on my list a couple to try but finally went with the Belgian carbonades à la biere which was beef stew with mashed potatoes in a dark gravy made with beer. The plate was quite generous and much appreciated since I devoured it. I enjoyed the creaminess of the potatoes swirled with gravy but the meat could've been a tad bit more tender. Service was good. I think everyone on the floor stopped by my table for one reason or the other. Ambiance was casual and looked like many people were taking their time over their meals. Maybe Brussels is a huge foodie capital and I just didn't know it (because London certainly isn't). I ordered the 17.87€ Stoemp Sausages. They were perfect. I really liked the mashed potatoes and gravy that they were served on. My mom had the 19.45€ Carbonade A La Biere. Her meal was even better than mine. This thing was cooked perfectly and the sauce around it is so delicious. The free bread was really good too. This place got packed right around noon for lunch. I can see why. Ok this is simple dining at its very best.. if you are in Brussels and miss this restaurant you have missed a gem of Belgium. There are no reservations so expect to wait in a line that moves. The decor is simple but definitely Belgium and the staff are helpful and friendly. The food is to die for, the lamb was my choice with mashed potatoes and my wife had the beef stew . Both were amazing and delicious. You can skip the appetizer because the entrees are plentiful but the burrata salad was great as well as the lentil soup. A great authentic Belgian meal while you're in Brussels! This restaurant has been around for a long time, is always packed, often with a lineup outside. But they do their best to seat as many people as possible. I got in fairly quickly because i was alone. The food was fantastic. I had the Carbonade a la Biere, and it was so great! Not sure if you need a reservation, but I went later in the evening and only had to wait about 10 minutes--not bad at all. The menu is written on a chalkboard, so I'm guessing it changes daily??? I originally wanted the entrecôte "Argentina" but they didn't have. :( so I ended up getting the spare ribs. No regrets though! This restaurant was recommended by my hotel and what a great recommendation it was! My party arrived at the height of dinner time, so there was a substantial wait, but it WAS WORTH IT!!! We had a nice table near the window. A tall, narrow blackboard on wheels has the menu on it, and the wait staff wheels it to the table. I went with a tripel to drink and the sausage entree. Both beer and entree were excellent. I wanted to lick the plate and the inside of my beer bottle. I was super satisfied and happy with the space, food, drink, and service. Out of all the places I've tried during my 2 day visit to Brussels, this was probably my favorite/most memorable restaurant. I personally ordered the Carbonnades dish. It came with such a tender/easy to chew beef with a side of creamy mashed potatoes. Everything from the presentation to the taste to the portion were excellent. It was full of carb/protein that I almost couldn't finish it, but eventually did. I also really enjoyed my drink of choice - Lindemans Pecheresse. Of all the Lindeman fruity beers that I've tried, this has to be the best flavor in my opinion. It was sweet - almost tasted like juice and not beer. If you are not a huge fan of beer, then I would highly suggest this one! Overall, I had an excellent meal! Service was great. My friend and I had no trouble finding a table because we arrived on a weekday around 1pm, but definitely saw a line forming as we finished eating. And it does get quite packed. They truly do give a bang for your buck (at least with the pork knuckle)! I came here with friends on their visit to Brussels and we each ordered a dish with wine and beer. I got the pork knuckle, which I expected to be crispy (or similar to a German one), but it seemed baked or roasted? and was served with a side of mustard. Needless to say, I didn't end up finishing the pork knuckle and ended up taking it home to go, but it made for some delicious leftovers! The host/ servers were all really nice, spoke French and English, and offered any assistance if needed. The food menu was posted on the wall and the drinks were on a paper menu they gave us at the table. The servers were knowledgeable about their beers suggesting different kinds based on our taste preference. The food was really delicious. We got two plates, one with the beef stew which had tender pieces of beef and a delicious sauce. The beef was cooked perfectly and was so easy to eat. There was also a hefty serving of creamy mashed potatoes. The sausage dish was also so delicious. The sausage was snappy and meaty. It wasn't that overly processed sausage texture and was so good. We ordered the flemish stew and the ribs. The flemish stew which came with potatoes was not bad. Beef was really tender but there wasn't a lot of it. The mashed potatoes are pretty smooth but not the smoothest I've had. The ribs were so addictive. Just the right amount of sweetness. Lots of meat on the bones. They give you around 10 ribs. Always our first stop in Brussels. While in Brussels for a week we visited Le Fin twice. We enjoyed each visit as much as we have over the past years. They actually have a lot of the same employees as they did during our last visit in Oct 2019. This visit we even got to meet the owner. What a great treat. We knew before we arrived that we were going to order. We ordered the Salade de Chèvre Chaud(Salad with Grilled Goat Cheese) and the Stoemp Saucisses(mashed potatoes with leeks and grilled sausage). On the second visit and almost our last evening we once again ordered the Stomp Saucisses. On both occasions the food was excellent. The stoemp was some of the best we have ever had. The flavors of the potatoes and leeks melded together to make for an excellent meal. The sausages were huge and cooked to perfection...done and moist. A trick to obtain. Can't wait to return.
