There were demos like birth balls, Rebozo wraps, and yoga mats. Alot of the material focuses on how control your situation and having good support partner. We did breathing exercises at first then transitioned to massage. Mary was great to explain things in her perspective of doula. Overall, my wife appreciated we took this class together. Already we got our birthing ball sized so know which one to get at Target.

While I understand dieticians often begin by asking why you're there, the way she posed the question felt abrupt and uncomfortable, setting the tone for the rest of the appointment. I had hoped to get personalized guidance on managing the final stage of my weight loss journey and support in building long-term healthy habits. Instead, any question I asked was met with silence, followed by her handing me a printed flier and asking if I needed anything else. I walked out with three generic handouts and no meaningful discussion or direction--something I easily could've found on the internet myself. This was one of the worst experiences I've had at HealthPartners, and unfortunately, it's the second time I've had a poor interaction with a dietician through this system. I don't know if it's me, or just bad luck, but this appointment left me feeling more confused and unsupported than when I arrived. Maybe she was having a rough day--everyone does--but it's hard to tell when there's no engagement at all. I would not recommend Joy O'Donnell based on this experience. If you're looking for compassionate, personalized dietary support, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I have been with healthpartners my whole life, I have not trusted some doctors. These are prescribed pills. I sleep and probably need all the coffee I drink, 8 cups a day. I have been trying to lose weight, but medicines can cause weight gain. I finally am fed up, I am changing to different primary doctor NOT with Healthpartners. The doctors seem knowledgeable but push prescription pills. I go to Coon Rapids Clinic not St Anthony. Ihotu came as soon as I called and was beyond helpful, supportive, and encouraging throughout my birthing process. I wanted a natural birth with no pitocin and no epidural and she encouraged me the whole way. She helped me breath through my contractions and supported my pain with massages and calming oils. She coached me threw 24 hours of labor, and never did I feel that she was tired or impatient. She involved my family and was so pleasant with my nurses. I really trusted her advices and loved that she encouraged me to stick with my birthing plan. Even weeks after my daughters birth, Ihotu coached me on postpartum mental and physical health. She also showed me how to give my newborn a massage. I have such warm, happy, and, fond feelings when I think about my birthing experience, which is largely due to Ihotu's amazing support, useful techniques and calming presence.

This was our first child and the entire experience was new for us. We wanted a more holistic and natural birth while still assisted by trained and educated professionals. The entire Roots staff made us feel welcomed, cared for, and most importantly--heard. Their center provided many opportunities for free educational classes and opportunities to meet other families going through the same process we were. Every appointment felt personal and included extra time to focus on talking through our questions, concerns, and the emotional feelings of the pregnancy and preparing for the delivery. The birthing experience was more than I could have hoped for. I was surrounded by support and understanding in a warm and comforting environment. I felt that everyone advocated for my best interest and the wishes I had shared when the situation arose. I never felt scared of birth, I went in to it feeling fully prepared and ready. Extra ready, because this baby was was almost a full two weeks late! My labor was long but beautiful and intensely personal. We can't say enough how thankful we are for Roots helping us guide our healthy boy into this world . It is an experience we will never take for granted and if fortunate enough, would return again!
