We knew immediately we weren't the only ones with that idea. The place was busy, with a line of people putting their names down for a table. It definitely has that destination-restaurant energy. Once we were seated, we ordered several things to share. We tried a mix of fried bites, including croquetas, shrimp, and stuffed squash blossoms. The croquetas were crisp and rich, and the squash blossoms were one of the more interesting things on the table. We also ordered pizza. The crust had a nice char and chew, and the toppings were generous. I enjoyed it, although a couple of my coworkers were a little less enthusiastic. For me, the smaller plates stood out more. The room was lively, and the mix of vintage plates, copper-toned tables, and simple details gave the space a lot of personality. I also liked how naturally the menu lent itself to passing plates around and trying a little of everything. I'm glad we checked it out, especially because Lardo comes up often when people talk about eating in Mexico City. I'd happily come back and explore more of the smaller plates.

It is a beautiful old restaurant which looks far more elegant and stuffy than it really is. "Au Pied de Cochon" offers a traditional old style French Restaurant Menu, most famous for serving the 19th century favorite of a crispy meaty deep fried Pigs Foot (or Trotter as it's called in Britain). I had this dish only once, and it was delicious (although a bit dryer than a braised pig's foot in gravy, which I prefer). But during each visit here I tried to order something new and different. Once when I was taken out here we ordered the 'Grand Seafood Tower', which consisted of nearly an 'All-Raw' 3 story high platter of fresh seafood. There were Oysters, Clams, chilled steamed Mussels & Shrimp, Sea-Snails, small steamed Periwinkle Snails, and both a cold cooked Crab and a half of a chilled cooked North Atlantic Lobster. On another occasion I ordered the large Alsacian Choucroute for two (it is basically a mountain of sauerkraut piled high with sausages, cured meats, and liver dumplings): YUM! And another time I had blood-rare steak (blue) coated in green peppercorn sauce. I had other delicious meals here as well, but these three really stood out. The best thing about eating here was just being here. The service was impeccable, the decor was like stepping back in time, and all of the meals I ordered came to the table slowly as a multi-course feast, with Escargot to start, followed by Pate or a rich Bisques, then the mains - and finally a cheese plate followed by desert & coffee. Plus there was alcohol served constantly, from Pernod or Campari as my aperitif, followed by many bottles of wine, and ending with a cognac or a sweet liqueur. So as you can imagine, I either had to be taken here by someone else, or I had to save up for two months to come here. But EVERY PENNY SPENT and EVERY CALORIE CONSUMED was Well Worth It.

My family came here for dinner in August 2026. Most of the meal was very good; however, the duck…read moreconfit portions were small and somewhat dry. The profiteroles were burned, and the dessert souffle was pretty deflated and watery on the bottom. We used to live part-time in France, and rarely encountered these issues there.

I'm not a fanboy of French food as I think it can be a bit heavy at times, but boy oh boy was this place great! The salmon was perfectly cooked( with a slightly raw interior, served on some of the best roasted vegetables you can imagine. Around it was a delicious sesame ribbon breadstick, absolutely amazing. They also gave us some complementary rose and a shot of lentil consomme, all excellent. The prices were elevated a bit, most diners arrived in jackets, so it if definitely a higher end joint, but it is probably one of the few French themed places I will seek out again. And if you like French fare in the slightest, or even if you are slightly against it, it is definitely worth a try. Oh and since it's a French place I should also mention the bread was served as petite almost crossaint shaped rolls with the balance of a crispy, toasted crust and a perfectly leavened yet glutinous and porous pliable interior. It was so good we saved it for dessert and it was a fantastic finish. Happy eating from John Seeto!

EAR-MAIMING MUSIC. pianist playing elevator music with constant blunders -- one of the people in my party, a pianist herself, was going insane. lol. service good, slow. pros: the waiter Oscar was highly professional and kind. the best thing i tasted was the Sancerre. good wine list cons: the bad food, ambience, bad music, .....bad food....
