After a fruitless 2 hour search of 3 Brasseurs on St. Denis, my friend and I finally settled for Saint-Sulpice at 2AM. (For some reason we could not find that bar though we were in the correct area.) The place was packed and lively, my girl friend and I had to line up and show our IDs to the bouncer. La terrasse was full of drunken anglophones, most of them Americans, and tables and chairs were scattered everywhere. After a long search for an empty table, my friend was kind enough to get a pitcher of sangria as my feet were aching from walking around for 2 hours in 3-inch heels. When she returned, I was disappointed to see that the pitcher was small and it didn't have fruit floating in it.. like the ones I'm used to seeing in Toronto. The sangria didn't taste like it had alcohol in it, it was like fruit punch, or Kool Aid, and it was rather expensive. (Much more expensive and not as good as the ones in Yorkville, Toronto). Although la terrasse was crazier than I would have liked and everyone was kind of roudy, and the sangria didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it, I did appreciate the bar's late operating hours. In Toronto, I would never arrive at a bar at 2AM and expect to be served. In fact, I would NEVER arrive at a bar in Toronto that late, I would have left at 1AM and be in bed by 2AM. If you're looking for a happening place late in the evening in MTL, Saint-Sulpice is a safe bet. Stay away from sangrias and stick with beers from the tap or anything that does not require mixing. But don't count on having a meaningful or quality catch-up session with your friends, cos chances are you won't be able to hear them from all the other patrons sur la terrasse. read more

Having been to this place in both summer and winter I can say that the best part of is the patio. In summer it is really nice to sit out there. Apart from that though it's no different from any other bar. read more

It's an ok place. Large area all around. Several floors. Good size patio in the front. Even larger patio in the back. Kitchen opens at 7pm :(. Had to pay waitress up front. I dropped in during the day on a weekday. Looks like it could be a happening place at night. Only reason I'd drop by is for the patio if no alternatives are available. read more

Can get cocktails, shots, wine, and food too (bar food only --pizza, wings, nachos and poutine) but the best deal is a 60 oz sangria pitcher for $26. Don't expect much from the service though... I wouldn't go here when it's really busy -- you will be elbow to elbow with strangers, and most areas outside are not shaded. read more

I don't mind this bar. I go here once in a while. This bar has the biggest terrace in all of Montreal and a karoake event inside on certain nights. There's a few floors on bars inside too. This bar is really big and also serves food. read more

Had such a good time here. Went to Montreal for the weekend, and stumbled apon this place. First of all... there are 4 floors. The first floor seemed to be all dance music, so I avoided that one right of the bat. The rest of the place was more to my liking. The bartenders were super friendly, and would chat and chat and chat forever (and the drinks weren't that expensive either). A fun time was had by all. read more

This place has been around forever! It has multiple floors with tons of place to party. There is a huge terrace out back that can sit maybe 100 people or more. So on a hot summer it is really one of my favorite places to go. On the weekends the top floor is pretty much a dance floor. I think they even have a karaoke night in the basement, not sure which night though. All in all this is a really fun place, if you live in Montreal you've probably already been there or heard of it. So take a look you won't be disappointed. read more

Am I the only person who hates this place??? Their shots are 5.50 for a 3/4 ounce. They use those measuring devices when pouring just to make sure you're getting as little as possible. It's just so cheap and obvious that you are a nothing but a wallet. Of course, they get away with it because the patio is so popular. Bar service is really mediocre on top of that. read more

Wow this place was pretty disgusting dirty and extremely dissapointing. The food was so bad we didnt finish and left our watered down drinks un-done. Went there for a good co-worker's going away party. We ended up there because the other bars we wanted to go were full, and the experience was comically bad, only saved by my good company. The terrace in the back is very nice space-wise, but that's about all it had going for it. We were lead to the back, at this time of the year it's also getting dark early. Our table had no source of illumination, so it was pretty much pitch black in our corner. You have to pay upfront with cash for food and drinks as mentioned, it may ruffle some feathers but personally I was okay with it. Food's very generic and plain, what stung was many of my friends were told they "didn't have [it] anymore" for several of the things they wanted to order (i.e. the sauce for the mexican poutine). Pizzas were only availale as small, guacamole only comes as an extra for nachos at the cost of 6$+, etc... At least they did bring us everything we ordered, but THEN came the Sangria. It was literally wine plus water, with half the pitcher filled with ice. We split it 5 ways and even the heavy drinkers had trouble finishing it. As a game, one of us threw in 3 packs of salt in their cup, there was no difference. Another one put a bag of ketchup in their cup, and proceeded to declare that it became more drinkable. We left shortly after to go to the Distillerie. It's going to make for a funny and sad story among my friends, but we would still never go back. read more

Gigantic yard, so many places to sit down and drink. But my drink had no alcohol in it. I don't know what's wrong with this city, but I couldn't find one decent alcoholic beverage outside of beer. read more

The first time I went to this place, it was on a beautiful summer afternoon. My boyfriend and I sat on outside and had an incredible time. We decided to go but with friends this time and we can't say the same the second time around. The service was horrible. The large outside terrace was packed. When my group finally spotted a decent spot to accommodate us all, we were told to move to another table (where we couldn't even move our chairs back) because the table we had chosen was in the way of the waiters/waitresses. We understood that it might have been in the way however that's where the staff had set them up, not us. We finally sit where they pointed to and about 10 minutes later, a group of people sat at the table we initially wanted and that was supposedly in the way. AND NO ONE SAID ANYTHING TO THEM! No one asked them to move to another table because THEY were in the way. Did not feel welcomed at all! Then we wait about 30 minutes for a waitress to come to our table, we didn't wait any longer, we just went inside to get our drinks. But the new table beside were served as soon as they sat down. I can't help to think that because we were a group of visible minorities we weren't treated the same way as the Caucasians the were served right away or that were "allowed" to sit at the table that was supposedly in the way. Definitely felt the discrimination from the staff here and will not be going back. I hated this place. There are much better bars in Montreal to check out. read more

Not sure what the single dollar sign is about. My husband and I came here after 3 broissures to find cheap drinks and it was more expensive. The service was good and the patio was nice but unless they have some killer after dark specials or weekend deals these guys are just as expensive as trois and the quality is half as good. read more
