Even though it was quite dark by the time we made it to the bat bridge, we were able to see them fluttering against the twilight sky. It was such a calming journey back in the dark, with lights on our boats and the twinkling skyline of Houston in the backdrop. My arms, neck, and back are in so much pain the day after but it was well worth the trip and the effort!

We met at the Cafe Express on corner of Capitol and Main and then started the tour in an old bank building (now occupied by Chase). Note, lots of people came late to the tour, we waited 15 minutes to start but then left so it is important to show up on time. The Chase building is gorgeous and has a beautiful Art Deco interior. There are eight frescos near the ceiling when you walk in and they depict the history of Houston. After that, you go down into the tunnels. Michael our tour guide was very informative and personable and we got a primer on the history and facts about the tunnels. There are over 8 miles of tunnels connecting buildings downtown! Maybe that is why you don't see anybody on the streets of the 4th largest city in America! We went from building to building underground and then came up from time to time, learning particular facts about the buildings, the topography and the architecture along the way. We took a break after about an hour and got free cookies at a store in the lower level of the Pennzoil building called Michael's cookies. (No relation to our tour guide) I love infrastructure so for me, this was an awesome experience. The tunnels in Houston are functional and there are lots of places to eat, but it is not like the underground networks in Toronto and Montreal that are kind of like subterranean malls. My friends who went with me aren't quite as nerdy as I am, but they enjoyed it too. The tour lasts about two hours and I feel it was two hours well spent. I would recommend doing this in the morning and then doing a Buffalo Bayou Cistern tour in the afternoon to get your fill of underground Houston.

It's almost 2 weeks post-vacation and I'm still reeling over the experiences I've had and still COVID-negative. Firstly... leave all preconceived notions about having a trip with many women behind! Everyone was pleasant and warm. I felt like I've known some of the girls for years! We all effortlessly ensured each other's safety (when we we're away from the all inclusive resort) to ensure no woman was left behind. lol There aren't any worries about your overall experience! Paris is truly blessed in her gift of travel. She planned every detail brilliantly! She has a way of granting your wish before you can even think to ask her. I felt individually catered to even though there were 75 other travelers! Phenomenal! Live Aqua Resort- I would definitely stay at this all-inclusive resort again without hesitation. The inviting aroma as you enter the innovative entrance instantly calmed my anxiety from all the traveling. lol I was greeted by Paris at the entrance- the definition of hospitality. Paris and her team ensured my friend and myself were checked in and had directions to our rooms. The landscaping of the resort truly transformed me into "vacay mode". The resort security is outstanding. I misplaced my new iPhone the first night of my trip. The security team was able to locate it from the cameras on-site. I left it on a table during our cocktail party. SMH. The resort is completely gated so there isn't any worries... even the private beach has security. Everyone was polite and helpful. There were so many food options so every need is met and the drinks were delicious. Excursions- Booking excursions for this trip was effortless and reasonably priced! The experiences felt tailored to me. Overall- I cannot wait until my next trip with Paris! I had so much fun each day! I could be writing for hours.
