Rarely do I comment on products, but I'm making an exception. There's a company called LeafFilter that just installed gutter screens on my house and a house we manage next door. I've noticed in the past that leaves continue to fall well into the winter, well past when I've cleaned the gutters and well past temperatures at which anyone would want to be on the roof. This LeafFilter catches and sheds the leaves and lets the water through. Unlike similar devices I've seen on other houses, these stainless steel screens shed the leaves and really do let the water through. I've already seen it happening. The representative, Chris Byrnes, is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to answer any number of questions. He's been out twice, once for each house, and he's made a fine impression both times. He's a great face for this company and I'm sure they're glad to have him. So now I never have to get on the roof again, and I'm recommending this LeafFilter product to my friends. And to anyone who reads this. Sandy Rapp read more

I purchased the LeafFilter system several years ago. I was concerned when I originally purchased the system as my back yard is surrounded by very large white pine trees. I pointed them out to the salesman and he assured me that they would collect on the top of the filters and blow off in the wind. This is not the case. The pine needles get caught up in the system and completely jam up the filters. So I made a warranty call to LeafFilter of CT. It took several calls and bad online reviews before I heard back from them. They agreed that they would send someone out to clean the filters. This process repeats (without the poor reviews) every time the filters get clogged. It takes several phone calls for LeafFilter to respond, and then they send someone out to clean the filters. This summer, I have made several phone calls and no one answers. I have left messages and no one returns them. Do not work with these people - they are expensive and do not support their "warranty." And when they are forced to do so, make it as difficult as possible for the customer. read more

BEWARE! If you're looking for gutter replacement stay away from a national company called LeafFilter. This company signed a contract with us to repace our gutters and collected a 25% deposit. The contract, signed by its Rep, stated that the work would begin on 9/13/25. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP TO DO THE JOB! Whenever I've called their service department I've been put on Hold or shuttled off to an answering service. No one ever calls back. Now, a company Rep named Haley, is denying that a contract was ever signed and is refusing to return our deposit. It has been OVER a month and this has still not been resolved. We have called multiple times, never reach someone only can leave a message. They call back days later and still have not rectified the issues. I've asked them to resolve it this week or take it ALL off and give me my money back. They just don't care. He arrived ON TIME, presented himself very well, reviewed what he was going to do, answered any concerns I had regarding safety and cleanup. If I could give negative stars I would have. My elderly parents contracted with this company to replace a couple of gutters at their house and fit several for leaf guards. They arrived early - by over two hours. It just happened that I was at the house as my parents are not able to deal directly with visitors. Upon arrival the two "workers" almost immediately informed me that they would be unable to do the job because the house has solar panels. I told them if they couldn't do the job they could leave, and we would find another company. They then refused to leave - which did not make any sense. The "workers" began to argue with me about me asking them to leave or maybe they were arguing about them being able to do the job they told me they couldn't do. Eventually, they pulled into the street and told me to step into the street "like a real man". They only left after I went into the house and shut the doors. I cannot believe that solar panels make a house somehow ineligible for gutter repairs. If this was a matter of simply having the wrong equipment, then they should told me they needed to come back at another time. I also am shocked that this Company would hire such incredibly unprofessional (and frankly dangerous) people to work for them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

Don't do it I got sucked to overpriced job 4400 for for 80 feet. Didn't get discounts promised. My error. One installer was here 3 hours and that included new gutters on one side[not included in 4400.00] Identical product available at Costco for 200 icould find a contractor for 1000.00 or less to install. Salesman used pressure tactics including having installed next day so I wouldn't have time to think over. Funny when he said they were so busy he could use 20 more installers DONT BUY. One person came to install our gutters we have a cape house he left in a hurry leaving debris all in the yard because he had t up his kids andmyiinIn Into my wife's car on the way out with his van leaving a hole in the back bumper. He's denying it even though my neighbor has ring showing him heading directly to the back of her new car where the damage is. The company has been giving me the run around for a month now ..today they told my wife to go through our own insurance. I climbed on the roof to check some installations on several areas. I purchased these last fall after many years of questioning their value. I have a few issues so far. First, the salesman, as part of his pitch said the installation crew would fix the pitch of my current gutters and get them secure before installing the covers. The installer (noticed this is not plural) said he would fix the pitch. He did not. I have two gutter sections on my home that go up in the middle and then down. Water stayed in them previously (not a lot, eventually it overflows and moves down) but this was never done. These are expensive and would not be worth the quoted price ($5k?!) if this was what service at installation I received. I did figure out how much it would cost me to install a similar product myself with a lift rental and they matched that price. My biggest concern is not leaves now, it is snow and ice dams. I had asked this question to many, and it seems all of these systems cause icicles and ice dams if the snow does not melt away a few days. after the storm. So for snow falls over 4", when it is not going to warm up, I need to clear the edges of my roof now. (So far 2x in 2021). My final suggestion, buy 6" gutters, install larger downspouts (about $1k) and then hire someone to clear them annually (or semi-annually inmy case). These filter sections cost about $6 to $8 each. I sell stainless steel, and there is not that much in it. The product works for leaves and is fine for 3 seasons out of the year. If you buy these, buy a good roof rake or add heating elements to your roof line. read more

I saw the commercial for leaf guard and proceeded to call to get an estimate. The sales rep came out, explained how the system worked and gave me a price. I agreed that I wanted to move forward. In the pitch they tell you that they will re-align your gutters if needed. The day of install came and I went out to inspect after the job was complete and was horrified to see that they had used roof straps that were screwed ON TOP of my shingles. It was not made clear to me that this would be the case. I never would have agreed to have this system installed if this was explained to me. I feel like I paid a lot of money to have someone put holes in my roof. I feel that I was misled and all of Leaf filters marketing states that their system doesn't disturb your roof or shingles. FAQ: "Is leaf filter installed underneath my shingles or attached to my roof? NO. To maintain the structural integrity of your roof, leaf filter is not installed underneath your shingles or attached to your roof. This will also protect your roof warranty." And from their website: "Some gutter guards will require you to nail the system into your roof. We can't stress enough how bad this is for your roof. This will create damage on your roof and your shingles will no longer do their job at protecting your home properly from the intrusion of water. Bottom line is you can't fix the holes in my roof now unless you were to replace the entire roof. I'm stuck with what was done. Tree hit my house, LeafFilter was used to replace my old gutters. The process was easy, fast and at a fair price.

I am so glad I did my research before hiring these people. A "Commercial Manager" came to the house with a woman. They arrived in separate cars with no identifiable company logos. (I still have no idea why the woman was with him) The Commercial Manager went around the house and seemed very knowledgeable and nice pointing out areas that we could use existing gutters. I was initially "impressed." I got the obligatory sales pitch and demo that lasted way too long - putting their company in the best light of course. He told me that in 2010, they were #1 in the market and were $20.00 a square foot back. He did some fancy calculator wizardry and put a number of $6400.00 in front of me. We only had 130 square feet so I thought a $50 sq ft price was crazy. He then said we could use an online coupon that would knock off 15%, but I still balked at $5400.00. - That was still double the price of 2010. When I still wouldn't sign, he gave me a great "story" of how he just landed a HUGE account and was doing a job for them next week. He could bundle my order, offer me "commercial rates" but I had to act fast. The new price was $4400. Against my better judgement and not realizing I was being swindled by the oldest trick in the book, I said ok. I had a really bad feeling about things so I did a little more research after they left. I saw that not only has this same tactic happened to several other people, but they delete any negative comments on Facebook and Twitter. (Whoever manages the FB account doesn't realize that when you delete a comment, it still shows how many comments were originally there.) The final straw was when I asked the commercial manager for an entire breakdown of the costs be emailed to me for my records.... materials, labor, etc and the difference between the residential pricing and commercial pricing that I was getting and he said (after sounding very flustered), "we don't do that," I canceled the order right away. Do your research people.... The presentation looks great, but after seeing so many people regretting getting this system, I am very glad I followed my gut. read more

We were impressed and sold a bill of goods by the salesman, but It took numerous phone calls and two more service guys to fix the problems with the installation. They seem overwhelmed by the number of installations scheduled. It took 2 weeks to get the third service tech back to fix our poor installation. These guys are sub contractors, not employees as was said to us. Rick was the third service tech and spent more than 3 hours fixing the poor installation. The gutters ARE leaking between house & gutter. We have been trying to get a resolve and have them fixed to no avail. When someone did call back, they blamed it on me not having a drip edge on my house. MY HOUSE DOES HAVE A DRIP EDGE. Bottom line, they want more money , $7200 I guess is not enough! Purchased leaf filter about 4 years ago and have not got one leaf stuck on the screens. My yard has many trees also!!!

LeafFilter is not recommended as a company to do business with for a number of reasons but primarily because the product does not work in snowfall and the customer service is horrible. The product should not be sold in places that experience snowfall. Shortly after installation, we had a 2" snowfall and the melting snow could not be absorbed by the LeafFilter system creating a situation of water flowing down as though we had no gutters, water on my steps that in winter would freeze and cause a safety hazard. They are rude and don't take responsibility when you call to complain and when they do respond they start to tell you how the gutters are installed wrong, you need more downspouts, etc. Then when we said our gutters worked great until you folks installed a defective system, they sent someone out to fix it but since it is now Spring, there is no more snow and after reading MANY other reviews on line, it is clear that a lot of folks all over the country have trouble with this company's product in the snow. They actually wanted me to sign that I am satisfied with the system when I haven't experienced it in snow but I have a feeling I know what's going to happen. I am giving them one star only because the regional manager and the representative that was sent to check our problem were both extremely nice but then again they have 1200.00 of our money for a product that took a minor nuisance of leaves in a gutter to a major one with dripping water from snow,sleet,and ice that now makes the front walkway hazardous in the winter. This product is not conducive to Northeast winters regardless of what we were told by the representatives at the home show. And yes they offer fixes,however the diverters not only would look unattractive on the gutter but could also create ice jams resulting in more damage. read more
