We purchased this system about a year ago because my husband who used to clean our gutters had a stroke. We were attracted by the commercial ad that claims you never have to climb a ladder to clean your gutters again. Not true. We are extremely disappointed! We have had a total of 10 service calls this first year. After the 4th call, we asked for our money back. When they refused, we asked them to take their equipment off our roof because we did not have the problems we are having now before we purchased their system. Again, they refused. Each time the service rep comes out, he has to fix or change, or clean something. One rep told us that we are responsible for cleaning the screens ourselves. That did not set well with us. I would not recommend this product because what they won't tell you is the screens on the system keep getting clogged by tiny granules from the asphalt roof shingles. You would expect that since most roofs have asphalt shingles, as a company would have tested their system on these types of roofs. The asphalt shingles are the perfect size to clog up the screens. I have seen it up close and personally. So far, they have been coming out, and taking care of the problem but how long will that last? Our roof is only 2 years old, so age is not a factor, and we don't plan on replacing it with anything else, anytime soon. What about the lifetime guarantee? That's only as good as the company and we are not happy with them right now. So, if you have asphalt roof shingles; by the way, 70% of all homes built have them, don't buy this system. read more

They'll schedule an appointment and never show up or call. When you finally call them...they'll schedule you another appointment and not show up. I had a pretty negative experience with just getting a quote. The salesman came out to my house and became pushy and negative when I expressed that I wanted to think over his offer, which was quite expensive. The whole experience had a negative energy, like as if my house would make or break his company. He told me upfront that signing today would help his "quota". When I let him know on the phone that I was not going to be moving forward with his company, he gave me an attitude over text messaging saying that he was surprised I called, and that he doesn't get paid for quotes. I called LeafFilter to do estimate at around 3 pm one day and they scheduled me for 7 pm that same day. Around 4 pm that same day I called them back to cancel - too many negative reviews. The estimator shows up at my house anyway at 6:30. Since he already came to my house l told him to go ahead and do the estimate. Ten minutes later he gets a text from LeafFilter telling him I cancelled the appointment! The estimator went ahead and took all the measurements, explained the product etc and said he would get back to me with an estimate. Well he never got back to me! That was two weeks ago. Today I got a call from LeafFilter asking me if I want to schedule another estimate! Way too late, I have already contracted with another company that knows what they are doing. Oh and LeafFilter wanted my wife to be present for the estimate - what!? She couldn't care less about gutters. They probably wanted to scare her into thinking I would fall off my ladder if I was to clean the gutters myself instead of buying their product. I was told my installation would be by a Leaf Filter employee, which was not the case. The work was done by a subcontractor, who had to come out three additional times to semi-compete the job and deal with leakage issues that still are not rectified. Fourth visit was by a Leaf Filter employee, who has to come out yet a fifth time. Meanwhile Leaf Filter sales office called to inform me I needed to pay additionally for parts and service because the salesman didn't include all the gutter materials in his original quote, as if I'm the expert in knowing what it takes to do the job properly! Horrible product and worse customer service. My gutters are covered and plugged by pine needles, leaves, and debris. The screen on the filter blinds over with the lightest mist of water at 32 degrees and acts like another course of shingles causing water to run off the front of the gutter and cause drip damage to your house and foundation. The screws used to install it are rusting after a few months. Customer service is a joke and the company so far has refused to honor their "Lifetime, transferrable, guarantee" against clogging. Called LeafFilter to give me an estimate on cleaning my gutters. I had water pouring over the side of them. The salesman came out and gave me an estimate of $800 and some change, Said the gutters needed to be relined, cleaned and caulked (only put silicone in a corner of the gutters). Come to find out they couldn't be relined because the straps on the gutters go up under the roof. He refunded me $200 back. I thought they were going to take down the gutters put them back up to realign them. I can't seem to get a write up on what they did for $600. $600 is a lot of money to clean some gutters. I called LeafFilter because I needed to have my gutters professionally cleaned. The saleswoman came to my home on time and presented herself and the company very well, so I signed a contract to have the work done. She scheduled an appointment for the upcoming Sunday. On Saturday, the day before, no one called me to confirm. On Sunday morning, I checked the company out online after I still hadn't heard from LeafFilter, and I saw many customers wrote that they had appointments and no one came to the home. I read other things too, which disappointed me, since now I know my time has been wasted. On Monday (today), I called LeafFilter to ask why no one showed up. I spoke with "Serena" who said someone would be calling me by the end of the day. Again, that didn't happen. Grossly overpriced! Agreed to have someone provide an estimate for just my second story gutters. Received a first quote of $6,000! I asked how many feet he measured for the gutters. Wouldn't provide me a direct answer, only stating, "under 200 feet." $30 a foot! Had to sit through a presentation and the standard "if you order today!" discounts. Told salesperson that I wasn't going to be pressured into making a decision today and that he wasn't leaving with a check that day. Pretty much had to throw him out of the house. He is coming back to take care of the wires but didn't have a solution to the mess he left on the driveway that we had just paid to have power washed is a mess, They said the debris would be in buckets and taken off site- which happened but not until he threw it all on the hot concrete where it dried and stained; now our driveway is a mess - can't even tell it had been cleaned earlier this summer read more

If available I'd give zero. My recent experience with Leaf Filter stemming from a postcard received with numerous discounts. The sales pitch reminded me of the Empire Today sales pitch. In this pitch the price began at $6,100 to install on existing gutters. After a 30 minute presentation of the product and some fuzzy math the price reduced to $3800. Asked what I thought appropriate at $1k was told no way. Rep spoke to "manager" who agreed to $3k. I signed, had 2 sleepless nights thinking this is still too much. Called, texted and emailed all I could find on Monday and Tuesday within the 3 day window. Rep calls on Tuesday and brings the price down to $1,900. I was outraged. They're shysters! If you feel like inviting a pushy used car salesman into your living room by all means give them a call. I made the mistake of calling and two salesman arrived. One was the arm-twisting pro and the other was observing the techniques. Now, mind you, these are NOT gutters. Just a "surgical steel" wire mesh over your existing gutters. The first price they quoted was over $6000. But because the wind was out of the east and I was a nice guy the price was reduced to $4500. Oh!! I'm a veteran so the price was dropped to $3500. Wow, who could pass that bargain up (besides me)! I told him that I would think about it. That's not the end of it. Persistent calls at all hours of the day were relentless. Needless to say, I did not use them. Instead I called a local gutter company and they installed new gutters and screen toppers (albeit not surgical steel) for around $1600. read more

We hired LeafFilter to install new gutter protection. The installer showed up on time on Saturday and worked until 2:30. Job was done. He informed us that someone would pick up old gutter protection parts on Monday as he didn't have room on the truck. He didn't clean up any of the crud from the gutters on the deck or walkways. They need to furnish installers with a blower. Also, didn't clean the outside of the gutters. Nothing was picked up on Monday. When we texted salesman, he informed us that he would have the installer manager call us-finally he called and informed us that the thousands of dollars we paid did not include cleaning the outside of the gutters. Also, someone would be by the next day to clean up. He did come by today and cleaned some and took the pile away. I sincerely hope the product does the job well-very unhappy with the service. Not useful if pine needles will be landing on the gutters. We had a brand new gutter installed on our cottage, and after a year we added a mesh from a Leaf Filter competitor. It kept the gutters clear but needles were stuck and caused water to overflow on the deck. We explained this to a Leaf Filter rep at the Haliburton Cottage Show, we were told with Leaf Filter we would not have the water problem. We had it installed and we had the same thing, water running off the gutter onto the deck. We called Leaf Filter service and were told a service rep would come out to fix it. The service rep was honest said they were having trouble with pine needles and there was nothing he could so, he said the the service people had been spraying the gutter mesh with WD-40 (you have to go up a ladder to do that). So here with are with over a thousand $$ spent and nothing to show for it. It may work fine if you don't have pine needles but not for us. Price is per foot of your home and you MUST have your spouse available at the appointment if you are a married home owner, this helps the estimator have more of a chance to lock in his sale...We in the call center, based In Hudson OHIO, must book appointments with both spouses available for the appointment. It is frowned upon if we book an appointment with only 1 spouse available for the estimate and inspection. I will forever regret the day I became involved with LEAF FILTER gutter guards. I will admit I have myself to blame having them installed. Having said that I don't have one positive thing to say about the experience. The first time I experienced a moderate rain following installation of the guards, water flowed over the top of 35% of the guards that had been installed. There was so much water flowing over the guards it appeared as if there were no gutters on the house at that location. Then the fun began. Calling their customer service telephone number is a frustrating exercise in futility. Their recorded message will tell you how important your call is but they won't answer it. Eventually they will tell you to leave a message and they will return your call by the end of the next business day. They didn't. I have called that number 16 times and only once was it answered and then the service rep didn't do what I asked, which was to have the guards removed. Eventually an installer was sent to my home and he put some splash guards on the gutters that weren't working and said they MIGHT fix the problem. They didn't. Every time it rains any more than a drizzle the water continues to flow over and/or around the guards. I've given up any hope of getting the problem resolved. For the last two weeks I've been leaving messages asking that someone come to my home and remove the guards so the gutters will start working. I'm not even asking for a refund, I just want them taken off the gutters. Again, no response to my messages. I would remove them myself but I own a 2 story house and I can't get to them. I don't know how anyone is suppose to resolve warranty issues if the company won't answer their telephone. So now I'm stuck with gutter guards that don't work on my house and no way to get them off unless I pay someone to remove them for me. read more

BE FOREWARNED TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I am only rating the company's customer service and not the product as we have not had decent rainfall. I had the system installed on Wednesday, July 7th. The installers stated they had to repitch all my gutters which turned the project into a longer than expected install. Upon completion, they were to clean up all materials and garbage. I noticed on Sunday, July 12th that they left a caulk gun and tube on my roof. I called my Sales Rep who instructed me to contact the office. (800-290-6106). I left a message on the voicemail and had received no callback. I called the office on Monday, July 13th, and spoke with answering service who stated they would send an email to the install managers and I would receive a callback. NO CALL BACK. I again called on Thursday, July 16th, and was informed the same thing - all they could do was email the install managers and they would get back to me. NO CALL BACK. On Saturday, July 18th, I called again and left a voicemail as well as contacted my Sale Rep, Loren. Today is Monday, July 20th and I have not heard back from the managers nor Sale Rep. I contacted the office today, (for the 5th time) and was informed that an email would be sent. I requested the email be sent to the Broadview Hts Office Manager and I expect a callback today. It's sad when all I am asking is for the company to be responsible and come back to retrieve materials that they left after the install. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the Customer Service of LeafFilter. I just hope the product and quality stand up to their name so I do not have to try to get a hold of the office for a faulty product. read more

First off, I have to say, salesperson was on time, very polite and very professional. Came with his clipboard, binder presentation and samples of the Leaf Filter Gutter system as well as some samples of their competitors. He walked around the house took his measurements and then sat down with my wife and I and gave us his presentation. My wife and I were very impressed with the overall product and it's construction. Unfortunately our home has Yankee gutters along the front and back of house (these are gutters that are built into the edge of the roof) and they are unable to install their product on Yankee gutters. However, we did have a few areas around the house that had traditional gutters that they would be able to cover. After going through his talk, he gave us a price of $3600, but immediately knocked off 40% ($2175) if we signed the contract right there. (Mind you, that's $3600 or $2175 for a partial install of my gutters). I felt like this price was still a bit high and we said that we would need to sleep on it. He agreed. The next morning I texted him and said that we decided to pass on the job mainly due to price and the fact that they could not do all our gutters. I told him if the price had been under $1000 we would probably have gone for it. The reality is, it costs me approximately $100 per year to have the gutters cleaned. At that rate, it would take almost 22 years for me to see a return on my investment! And, I would still have to have my Yankee gutters cleaned every year to boot! He came back with a price of $1000 and said they have to see the crews working! Can you believe that?! He was a willing to knock $1175 off the already - 40% discounted price! I told him $700 was my limit and he said they could not go below cost. If you ask me, that's BS! At $1000 they are still making a profit! I believe at $700 they are still making a profit! To sum it up, they started the quote at $3600, and dropped their price to $1000, that's a drop of over 70%! My advice, it looks like a great product that is grossly overpriced. If you are considering getting the LeafFilter system, whatever the initial quote is that they give you, insist on paying 75% less than their offer or walk away. Be sure to play hardball - 75% less or walk! Chances are you'll get your 75% discounted price! : ) read more

Salesman was to meet me at 9:00 Saturday morning. No show. Called at 11:00 to tell me he overslept. STRIKE 1. Reschedule for 5:30 same day. Quoted me $3,600. Too much I said. Lowered quote to $26,60. Estimate did not include linear feet or cost/foot. Called salesman Sunday after measurement linear footage myself. I got 88 feet. So his quote was for $25.36:foot for partial first floor only. Salesman texted me he was at family function and could he call me later in the afternoon. No problem, although I had to call him back later in the afternoon. STRIKE 2. He explained $25 extra for corners and I had four corners and $34/foot for first level work. No problem. He measured 90 feet, No problem. My wife thought this was too much for the small areas we wanted covered. I agreed, but so be it. Monday, received voicemail message from production manager at almost 3:00. They were to arrive between 2:00-4:00. Crew was still working on first job for the day and they would have to reschedule. STRIKE 3. I called production manager back and told him I had buyer's remorse and wanted to cancel project. He said no problem and was willing to accept the loss of business with no attempt to make things right. YOU'RE OUT! But I thought I owned them my reasons for canceling. We have asked (because the warranty says 100% satisfaction gurantee) they remove them and refund our money. Obviously the guarantee is a lie too because they won't honor it. I had a fellow come out to the house for an estimate. It was very off-putting. It felt like I was stuck in a tacky car sales commercial. He was trying to be very nice, but just overkill on the salesmanship. Kept saying he would make a deal, 20 percent off this, 25 percent off that, discounts, etc. But I had to lock in the deal right then, while we were standing behind his car with the trunk open. If not I would "lose" the discount. The price! Outrageous! $41 per foot! It would cost nearly $4K for my house. Nope. So then he tells me, "I'll tell you what, and this is a secret that I don't tell everyone. If we rip off the old gutters and put brand new gutters on, you'll be an existing customer and then we can get you the Leaf Filter system cheaper." He quoted approximately $1,500 for new gutters and then another $1,400 for the filter system. So that's a savings of over $1K and new gutters? But they can't do all at once? They would have to come back. "Even just one day later," he said. Sorry -- But that makes NO sense. WHY wouldn't everyone just do that then? I even asked him. He said, "Not everyone needs new gutters." Umm no one is going to turn down BRAND NEW gutters and the leaf filter system if the savings is over $1K. And why wouldn't they do the install and filter system at once? Again, that makes NO sense. It clearly was not to my benefit, but to his. No idea how the numbers work, but he tossed so many figures at me (he had his cell phone and his fingers were flying all over the calculator) and basically wanted an instant commitment. I bought a Leaffilter system a little over a year ago and have encountered difficulty with the product keeping everything off of the surface of their product; creating a system that allows overflow when it clutters on the surface. MY complaint is in that they are misleading the public with their advertisement. In addition their sole warrantee is in that your gutters will not clog. (see attached) Well I guess not, they are covered. So they meet that guarantee, however let's look at the other statements. It is advertised and depicted on their commercials that their system effectively sheds debris from its surface to allow proper operation of the system. It doesn't, that is my issue and appears others are having the same issue as shown online reviews. Since it doesn't keep the debris off the surface of their product (as stating in their advertisement) The system allows for overflow due to the buildup of debris on the screen surface, allowing future damage to my home via water damage. The surface captures leaves, shingle grit, trees seeds, leaves and pine needles. This build up, which is not supposed to happen; but it fills up on top and the water goes everywhere but in the gutter. It states it is completely sealed to protect my home, but they are not as this is not one molded piece and there are many areas on each side of the installation pieces that can leak back when clogged on surface. During the first year of its operation I had them come out and clean them off to work properly. No issue the first time. They cleaned them off. Once again I have a surface that continues to build up along the complete length. So I called to discuss this and get someone to come out and blow it off. (Exactly what I paid to prevent, going up there to clean.....dangerous as Leaf Filter states! These are their exact their selling points. They sent a rep out to review and clean off areas. He made his review and stated he will get with his supervisor to get me a recommendation. The inspector told me I have too many trees around my house causing the buildup. (Isn't that what it is made to prevent) Well they are telling me it's my fault as the trees are near the house. Quite frankly it is the edge of two trees. Therefore their implied and written warrantee is worthless to all. It only works if you don't have trees around, but that is the whole purpose of their product; so why buy it! They need to change their advertising to reflect that in which it cures, but then they wouldn't have any advertisement. read more
